    Opis:
    The departure point of the analysis presented in this article is a poem written by Tadeusz Różewicz learning to walk (nauka chodzenia). The protagonist of the poem is Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who created the theory of “religionless Christianity”. According to Bonhoeffer, a modern Christian has to immerse himself/herself in the “godless” world so that – in tandem with the Saviour – he/she can be experience the final abandonment. The author of this article tries to prove that the theology of Bonhoeffer had a great impact on Różewicz, making him reconsider his viewpoint on faith. Due to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the poet also found a solution for a basic contradiction that was explicated in the famous poem entitled Bez (Without): “life without god is possible / life without god is impossible”.

    Farewell volume by Czeslaw Milosz was entitled ‘It’. Because of the importance of the text, some re-viewers compared the text with the epilogue to ‘The Tempest’ by William Shakespeare. Tadeusz Rożewicz published a parody of Miłosz’s text entitled ‘This and That’. By adding ‘… and that’, he produced an effect resembling the puncturing of the bubble of illusion. The goal of this and similar polemics by Różewicz was not to arouse uncontrollable laughter, but recall a smile. Smile is always associated with the form and serves to maintain the continuity of culture. In intertextual games, the poet uses dif-ferent styles. The fact that he often reached for ludic and farcical conventions does not diminish the sophistication of his media. In the process of ridicule, the poet always kept the authenticity and naturalness. What is the kind of humor by Różewicz? We should rather talk about the many shades of his humor.

    The subject of the article is the problem of adolescence to sex and sexuality. As illustrated in the literature, the behavior associated with bodily maturation is subject to strong restrictions on adults. The sexuality discourse tells how much he is silent. The analysis was: Frank Wedekind’s drama of the early twentieth century, „Awakening of the Spring” (sexual taboo limits children and adults), Robert Musil’s prose „The anxiety of Törless’s pupil” (indicates repressed sexuality as a source of aggression and violence), and Polish tragedy of Tadeusz Różewicz „White marriage” (silent about sex hidden in words).
    Tematem artykułu jest problem dojrzewania do płciowości i seksualności. Jak pokazuje literatura, zachowania związane z cielesnym dojrzewaniem podlegają silnej restrykcji ze strony dorosłych. Dyskurs o seksualności tyle informuje, ile przemilcza. Analizie poddane zostały: dramat Franka Wedekinda z początku XX wieku „Przebudzenie się wiosny” (seksualne tabu ogranicza i dzieci, i dorosłych), proza Roberta Musila „Niepokoje wychowanka Törlessa” (wskazuje represjonowaną seksualność jako źródło agresji i przemocy), i polski dramat Tadeusza Różewicza „Białe małżeństwo” (o milczeniu o płci ukrytym w słowach).

    Though ideally a translator should have a sound knowledge not only of the language of the source text but of the literary culture from which it has arisen, examples can readily be found of satisfactory poetic translations made by translators with little or no knowledge of the original language. Examples also abound of cases where an inadequate knowledge of the source language has led a translator into errors of interpretation, which may or may not be counterbalanced by felicities of expression in the target-language text. The author’s Scots translations of poems in Polish, a language of which he has only a rudimentary knowledge, are presented and examined as case-studies of the practical and ethical problems of translating from an imperfectly-known language.
