    An insult is one of the cases of verbal aggression and undoubtedly it is an everyday life phenomenon. Insulting is a display of direct aggression which arises from anger and aims at the effect on the recipient’s mind. The act of abuse on the other hand, is conditioned by multiple factors. Its success depends, for example, on the knowledge of culture to which the recipient of an insult belongs. Despite the fact that an insult is a cultural phenomenon, i.e. dependent on a particular culture, the mechanism of abuse itself is identical in the entire world. Generally, it is possible to determine a list of universal human disabilities which are subject to insults as well as a universal list of topic areas of insulting expressions.

    The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive, theoretical overview of how proverbs are used as a communicative and discursive strategy, taking into account the speaker’s communicative intention. I will pay attention both to the benefits of the use of this type of formulaic sequence in the construction of the speech, and to the illocutionary force and pragmatic implications entailed by these utterances. In order to do so, some considerations will be required – the encoding of the meaning of the proverbs, the decoding process by the addressee, and the way proverbs are inserted in the discourse. This paper inspects the importance of such factors as the need for articulation of fluent speech, the assumption of cultural patterns, the appeal to proverbiality that aligns the speaker with power structures of the community, or the masking of the speaker’s voice behind a collective entity in order to socialize and release tensions related to interpersonal contact.

    El artículo se centra en las estrategias discursivo-interaccionales a las que recurren los usuarios de habla hispana de YouTube dirigiendo sus comentarios a los enfermos de Covid-19. De modo especial nos fijaremos en la expresión de apoyo y solidaridad. Partimos del supuesto de que los comentarios con los que los youtubers reaccionan ante los testimonios de los enfermos de Covid-19 constituyen una forma particular de comunicación que, sin ser una expresión prototípica del principio de «reciprocidad interaccional», presenta diferentes manifestaciones de interacción dialogante. Las estrategias seleccionadas (entre ellas: buenos deseos, formas vocativas, fórmulas de ánimo, muestras de interés, cumplidos, referencias de tipo religioso…) parecen indicar que la realidad pandémica ha contribuido a la creación de una particular community of practice, la cual dentro de un espacio virtual cumple con el principio interaccional de solidaridad, valorando, además, los tiempos marcados por la epidemia de coronavirus.
    Przedmiotem artykułu są strategie dyskursywno-interakcyjne, do których odwołują się hiszpańskojęzyczni użytkownicy serwisu YouTube w komentarzach kierowanych do chorych na COVID-19. W sposób szczególny interesują nas mechanizmy, przy pomocy których wyrażane jest wsparcie i solidarność. Wychodzimy z założenia, iż komentarze pozostawiane pod filmikami umieszczanymi w Youtube stanowią szczególny rodzaj komunikacji, która nie będąc prototypową realizacją zasady interakcyjnej wzajemności wykazuje znaczny stopień interpersonalnego i interakcyjnego oddziaływania. Wydzielone strategie (a wśród nich życzenia, nacechowane ekspresywnie formy wołaczowe, werbalne sygnały empatii i zainteresowania, komplementy i pochwały, inwokacje o charakterze religijnym itp.,) wydają się wskazywać, iż pandemiczna rzeczywistość przyczyniła się do wytworzenia sowitego rodzaju wirtualnej community of practice, która we właściwy sobie sposób realizuje interakcyjnie pojmowaną zasadę solidarności, wartościując przy tym czas naznaczony epidemią koronawirusa.
    The aim of this article is to analyse the discourse-interactive strategies applied by Spanish speakers in YouTube comments addressed to people infected by COVID-19. We are especially interested in the mechanisms that reflect support and solidarity. Our main assumption is that the comments that accompany YouTube videos constitute a special type of communication which, though not fulfilling the prototypical principle of “interactive reciprocity”, demonstrates a considerable level of interpersonal and interactive mutual influence. The strategies analysed (including greetings, expressive vocative forms, verbal empathy and signals of interest, compliments and praise, religious invocations, etc.) seem to indicate that the “pandemic reality” has contributed to the creation of a certain type of virtual community of practice that, in its own way, fulfils the interactive principle of solidarity, whilst simultaneously evaluating the time of the coronavirus epidemic.
