    Opis:
    Narco‑fiction, very popular in the recent Mexican and Colombian literature, emphasizes one of the determinants of narco‑culture: a deep rootedness in the primitive mentality and mythical thinking. Such roots translate into a particular religiosity, the cult of legendary narcos. The same mentality has driven the creation of a culture based on a ritual. The article analyzes examples of these phenomena, on the basis of selected texts of Colombian and Mexican narco‑fiction writers with the aim of showing that mythical thinking remains relevant in the postmodern and post‑political reality.     The weight of the figure of Gabriel García Márquez and of magical realism in later generations is the root of a conflict that has become a part of literary matters. The writer’s work has become an inevitable reference for all Colombian writers, no matter how much it is hated, petrifying into a label that is as frequent as it is erroneous. In the writings of such authors as Fernando Vallejo, Héctor Abad Faciolince, Nahum Montt or Juan Gabriel Vásquez, the complex relationship with the heritage of García Márquez is reiterated as a secondary theme, complementing the image of violent Colombia. The article discusses specific examples of narrative works of the above mentioned authors and their very specific, respectful attitude to the paternal figure of García Márquez and his work, to love-and-hate, to rejection-and-tribute, to a simultaneous affirmation-and-negation, which results in an ironic transformation and reinterpretation of the concept of magical realism and of the Macondian heritage, and subsequently widens the perspective from which the literary image of contemporary Colombia is constructed and read.     This article proposes an analysis of Laura Restrepo’s Leopardo al sol (1993), a novel that proposes a sociocultural interpretation of the impact of the illegal economies of drug trafficking on traditional society. By analyzing the ingredients of the convention and poetics narco in the text, we observe how the violence represented in Leopardo al sol takes the form of a particular syncretism of modern elements of a civilization of spectacle and archaic elements intrinsic to mentalities anchored in mythical and magical thinking.
    Niniejszy artykuł omawia powieść Laury Restrepo Leopardo al sol (1993), która proponuje socjokulturową interpretację wpływu narkobiznesu na tradycyjne społeczeństwo. Analizując obecne w utworze poszczególne elementy konwencji i poetyki narco, obserwujemy, że przemoc przedstawiona w Leopardo al sol wykazuje cechy swoistego synkretyzmu, łącząc elementów nowoczesnej cywilizacji spektaklu z elementami archaicznymi, nieodłącznie związanymi z mentalnością zakorzenioną w myśleniu mitycznym i magicznym.

    In Colombia and Central America, the subject of terrorism – or of the acts of terror – is inevitable in all the literature that aspires to reflect the socio-political reality. In the last few years it has been given an exceptional importance. Taking as the basis various examples of the modern Colombian and Central American narrative, the article presents distinct ways in which the novels try to deal with the trauma of the recent history. The analyzed works are Los ejércitos by E. Rosero, Insensatez by H. Castellanos Moya and El material humano by R. Rey Rosa. The analysis focuses on how the tragic experiences of the common people are absorbed by the narrative, turning trauma into literature. We are particularly interested in a meta-literary reflection regarding social commitment of literature, as well as the impossibility of dealing with trauma and the relations between the esthetic and ethical values in literary representations of trauma.

    This article comprises an inventory of the motif of death within the narrative syntax of several Colombian narco novels. “Sicaresca” novels by Fernando Vallejo, Jorge Franco and Arturo Alape will be discussed. The construct of the characters, young contract killers, whose violent and premature deaths are seen as their fate, will be shown to display an indisputably “Thanatotic” facet. In the second part of this article, the ritual dimension of death, presented in the novels “Comandante Paraíso” by Gustavo Álvarez Gardeazábal and “Leopardo al sol” by Laura Restrepo, will be analysed. The last part will be dedicated to the iconic and symbolic dimension of Pablo Escobar’s death depicted in “El ruido de las cosas al caer” by Juan Gabriel Vásquez and “Happy birthday, capo” by José Libardo Porras.
    Niniejszy artykuł stanowi swoisty przegląd zastosowań motywu śmierci w narracyjnej gramatyce wybranych kolumbijskich narkopowieści. Zostały tu omówione powieści należące do kategorii novela sicaresca (powieści Fernando Vallejo, Jorge Franco, Arturo Alape), niewątpliwie „tanatyczne” w sposobie ukształtowania postaci nastoletnich płatnych morderców, w których życiu gwałtowna, przedwczesna śmierć wydaje się nieuniknionym przeznaczeniem. W drugiej części tekstu został omówiony rytualny wymiar śmierci przedstawiony w powieściach Comandante Paraíso Gustava Álvareza Gardeazábala oraz Leopardo al sol („Lampart w słońcu”) Laura Restrepo. Ostatnia część artykułu jest poświęcona ikonicznemu i symbolicznemu wymiarowi literackich reprezentacji śmierci Pabla Escobara w El ruido de las cosas al caer („Hałas spadających rzeczy”) Juana Gabriela Vásqueza i Happy Birthday, capo José Libardo Porrasa.

    The article analyzes nine novels of a Salvadorian writer, Horacio Castellanos Moya, written between 1994 and 2011, and indicates elements that could be considered to be paradigmatic of the current Central American narrative and its links to the topic of the recent past of the countries of the region, namely, militarisms, political violence, civil war and its consequences, as well as criminal violence and political frustration. The aspects that are analyzed are the distortion of the classic model in of the police, the possible therapeutic value of literature, and finally, the problem of collective and individual identity affected by violence.     The crime novel, which in modern literature has become a kind of a new social novel dealing with topics such as different expressions of violence, crime or corrupt societies, is hardly ever separated from its true realistic and urban Aesthetics. However, in order to build a scenario of a noir novel and convey the air of terror and threat, some authors resort to a repertoire of narrative aspects typical for a horror story, thus transforming the reality into a thriller or giving it some fantasy touch. The following article analyses the space configuration presented in Angosta, a novel by Colombian writer Héctor Abad Faciolince and it proposes to interpret the story as a sort of universalistic thriller in which various human fears of an era of globalism and late capitalism get together.     El presente artículo analiza dos novelas colombianas que pueden calificarse como narconovelas: Comandante Paraíso (2002) de Gustavo Álvarez Gardeazábal y Happy Birthday, capo (2008) de José Libardo Porras. Recurriendo al término propuesto por la filósofa mexicana Sayak Valencia, calificamos a los personajes narcos como sujetos endriagos, actores principales del capitalismo gore. Nos fijamos en la configuración de la subjetividad de los actores principales del narcotráfico para demostrar cierta ambigüedad axiológica con que se representan y una tensión particular entre lo heroico y lo antiheroico en la percepción de los protagonistas. Publicadas hace, respectivamente, quince y nueve años, Comandante Paraíso y Happy Birthday, capo anticipan lo que en los últimos años se observa sobre todo en el mainstream de la cultura popular y de masas: un auge de protagonistas del narco configurados como personajes psicológica y moralmente complejos, cuya actividad parece por lo menos justificable en el mundo degradado de la corrupción de los políticos y las élites tradicionales, tan propio del capitalismo gore.
