Opis:: Natural languages include a network of associated concepts, which allow creating and/or understanding new metaphors, based on two relatively systematic types of models: archimetaphors and culturemes. An example of the productivity of both macromodels of figurative language is the concept of fruit, both as a source domain and as a target domain, that undergo the interaction between multiple linguistic metaphors and extralinguistic symbolism.

Opis:: In Spanish, motion verbs are among the verbs that show most polysemic variation. Apart from being used in a literal sense, they also appear in periphrastical expressions that encode temporal and aspectual information. The article shows how the grammatical value of motion verbs is deduced from their lexical meaning, and how both meanings can be distinguished on a formal level due to formal restrictions imposed on certain versions that appear when the grammatical meaning stands in contradiction to some aspects of the lexical meaning.

Opis:: The creation and improvement of automatic translation tools and technologies has been irregular. The application and purpose of some of these tools is still problematic, in particular, while implemented without linguistic resources like dictionaries or parallel corpora. In this paper, I explore some fundamental dimensions within texts that should be taken into account for the design and implementation of any automatic translator. I critically consider the theoretical approaches and methods applied for the design of automatic translation software by analysing different texts translated into spanish by the Instituto Cervantes online translation service. The purpose of this succinct study is to illustrate the challenges put by translation and suggest some answers related to the combination of methods and tools; the design and implementation of ontologies and formal rules based not only on linguistic information but also on knowledge; and the effective interaction of the machine and the human translator.
