The presented contribution deals with the issue of alcohol dependence in a modern day family from a viewpoint of family counseling. The methodology of family counseling related to recovery process of a family member addicted to alcohol is considered a major problem. A primary research goal was to clarify the status and changes of family counseling in the recovery process with regard to time factor. This goal emerges especially from the lack of clarity and non-systematic nature of family counseling in Slovakia. The main method was a semi-structured interview. Interviews with family counseling and/or alcohol dependence experts were analyzed by means of interpretative content analysis. Interviews with family members were subjected to a phenomenological data analysis. Analysis results were transparently presented by the author in the tables of common topics reflecting subjectively per ceived status of family counseling in Slovakia. The author can, among other things, state that the methodology of family counseling in Slovakia does not exist and unification of these methods is not expressly desirable from the experts’ point of view. She also points to a number of weaknesses of family counseling which need to be solved in a system way. Interpretation of experts’ results is complemented by the counseling experience of families themselves, where always one member was addicted to alcohol. The time factor is at the same time important especially in the three years of family counseling which is marked by the occurrence of most life changes.

The family is the basic cell of society. Positive experiences for the child's primary socialization in the family is essential to create and maintain an atmosphere of certainty and security. In the conception of Roma family is a social institution that represents and shapes the social relations not only within its own, internal space, but also externally. Roma family is characterized by the multiplicity of its members. Raising children in a Roma family in segregated settlements is frequently on the shoulders of only one parent, or grandparents, and can be seen frequent expressions of aggression within families, communities, but also externally. Roma family can be understood as an organic whole, which in relation to the outside acting coherently. All activities, both positive and negative costs are comprehensively assessed as either progress or failure as a whole community. Segregated settlements, situated near the villages or small towns have not developed infrastructure, there are settlements without electrification or water supply is not built sewerage etc. These facts pose a risk not only increase morbidity, lack of care, children's homework on the teaching process itself or the possibility of integration. If the mother is uneducated, socially incompetent, professionally and economically passive, is unable to do anything more for your baby, just give him the same socialization process, which she passed.

Probably also because the traditional family model has appeared so he mocked that show lack of pragmatic family and social networks. Acceleration time is felt more and more. Being demolished relations is atomized families. We are seeing new types of family life, such as single, mingle, patchwork families, gay families, and so on. More young heterosexual couples does not enter into a marriage, because marriage is considered unnecessary formalities with the statement that “do not need a paper that they love!”

Education influenced and continues to affect human understanding. Adopted the concept of education determines the character and re-education affects not only the concept itself, but also society as a whole. The beginnings of education are found in ancient human cultures. In accordance with these influences, each person, company, social group creates its own general and specific value systems and codes.

Looking after a sick person in the family not only requires a lot of mental and physical strength, but it is difficult for the family financially. Introducing new law about volunteer activities in Slovakia in 2011, created a platform for the implementation of voluntary activities in families with a sick person. The article defined volunteering as a supporting area. The following are the obligations of a beneficiary of volunteering as well as the organization which organize work for volunteers. In the article is defined the costs associated with volunteering in a family with a sick person.

One addition to the existence and ability to work with others in the community, is also able to be unselfish helping gift because it owns himself, himself and the government itself decides to subject and the administrator of his act or conduct. Thanks to this ability as one person is able to create community with others and the community, which still has a deeper family character . It is based on mutual love: human, but also the love of God. Love is the principle strength and double-family community, it is born of the marriage indissoluble unity and brotherly love to the wider community. Love and its preservation is the structure of the community of persons and therefore the life of the spouses and family members should be constantly trying to expressions of love such as respect, forgiveness and mutual giving and receiving all the family members of the community.

Thanks to unprecendented technologies and applications, the media space is constantly expanding, social media is gaining ground in the lives of children and adolescents, and the discussion about the positives and potential risks associated with it is intensifying. Based on theoretical and research findings, the paper maps the use of social media in relation to adolescents and their mental health.
