    The Catholic Church is experiencing a Synod on Synodality from October 17, 2021, by decision of the Holy Father Francis. The aim of the Synod is to revive this forgotten form of life for all members of the Church and to make it the natural style of their life. The synodal walk in faith (syn - together; hodos - journey) increasingly counts on the laity and the use of their potential in bearing responsibility for the Church. The current Synod is both an invitation and a chance to learn to listen to one another, to talk about living the faith and to discern correctly what the Holy Spirit wants to remind his Church today. In the documents of the Magisterium for the synodal process there is the word parrhesia (Gr. παρρησία), the content of which is no longer obvious. “All are invited to speak with courage and parrhesia, that is, integrating freedom, truth, and charity” (Preparatory Document, 30). In this paper we will discuss the meaning of this term primarily from a biblical perspective. We note that it is a special charism of the Holy Spirit. Using specific passages from the New Testament and the Eastern liturgy as examples, the paper reveals the richness of content and the practical use of parrhesia in the synodal walk.

    Dokument Medzinárodnej teologickej komisie z roku 2018 s názvom „Synodalita v živote a v misii Cirkvi“ venuje pozornosť synodalite v živote a v misii Cirkvi. Synodálny proces vytvára priestor pre osobitný druh stretnutia, vzájomného počúvania, všímavosti a dialógu. Vtelenie Ježiša Krista predstavuje mimoriadny spôsob otvorenia sa Boha pre trvalý dialóg s Bohom. Uskutočňuje sa v živote Cirkvi a jej stálom misijnom poslaní. Predmetný dokument zachytáva oblasti života viery a Cirkvi, v ktorých otvorený dialóg vo vnútri cirkevného spoločenstva napomáha komunitnému rozlišovaniu a má význam aj pre ekumenickú cestu. Zámerom príspevku je poukázať, ako sa otvorený dialóg v Cirkvi stáva prostriedkom v konkrétnom prehĺbení a obnove života veriaceho človeka a cirkevného spoločenstva.
    In the document Synodality in the Life and Mission of the Church, the International Theological Commission presents Pope Francis’ initiative as a continuation of efforts to renew the life of the Church according to the intentions of the Second Vatican Council and Pope Paul VI. The community of believers is in permanent relationship with the world; for this reason, a constant renewal of life according to the teaching handed down to the Church by her founder, Jesus Christ, is essential. Believers are to be faithful witnesses of the Gospel of Christ according to the plan of salvation. The Church fulfils her mission in a particular environment which is the stimulus for her growth and renewal, which consists in the growth of moral and spiritual excellence in contact with the transformations of the world around. Dialogue has an indispensable place in the renewal of the Church, which is based on a mature self-awareness of the Church in the history of the world. Hence the very nature of synodal dialogue, which depends more on the courage to listen than to speak. Dialogue in the service of the renewal of the Church requires specific attitudes for the fulfilment of the mission of the synodality: love, respect for the opinions of others, trust and discernment in judgment and word.

    Článok pojednáva o jednom z dvoch subjektov moci v Cirkvi, o kolégiu biskupov a osobitne vyjadrení jeho moci v synode biskupov. Teológia a kánonické právo jasne deklarujú, že moc v Cirkvi je organizovanou službou veriacim. Najvyššia moc v Cirkvi, vyjadrená v kolégiu biskupov je prejavom ich spoluzodpovednosti za tú istú univerzálnu Cirkev, ktorá je prítomná a vyjadrená aj v miestnych cirkvách. Druhý vatikánsky koncil ustanovením Synody biskupov vytvoril veľmi pružný cirkevný orgán, kde biskupi, zastupujúci jednotlivé biskupské konferencie z celého sveta, ponúkajú Rímskemu veľkňazovi neoceniteľnú pomoc a vzácne rady. Synoda biskupov tak vytvára užšie spoločenstvo medzi pápežom a biskupmi, poskytuje mu svoje rady a skúma otázky týkajúce sa činnosti Cirkvi vo svete. Na tomto mieste je priblížená teória biskupskej kolegiality vyjadrená vo fungovaní a aktivite synody biskupov.
    The article discusses one of the two subjects of power in the Church, the college of bishops and, in particular, the expression of its power in the Synod of Bishops. Theology and canon law clearly declare that power in the Church is an organized service to the faithful. The highest power in the Church expressed in the college of bishops is a manifestation of their shared responsibility for the same universal Church which is present and expressed in local churches as well. By establishing the Synod of Bishops, the II. Vatican Council created a very flexible ecclesiastical body, where bishops representing individual episcopal conferences from around the world, offer the Roman Pontiff great help and precious advice. In essence, the Synod of Bishops acts permanently, creates a closer community between the Pope and the bishops, offers him advice and examines issues related to the activities of the Church in the world.     Synodalita predstavuje základný, konštitutívny rozmer Cirkvi. Je hnacím motorom misionárskeho úsilia Cirkvi, ktoré energicky zdôrazňuje pápež František, schopným pretvoriť všetky stránky Cirkvi, aby sa jej zvyklosti, jazyk, štýl komunikácie a štruktúry stali adekvátnymi prostriedkami evanjelizácie súčasného sveta a nie iba stratégiami sebazáchovy. Tento príspevok, vychádzajúci zo skúmania jednotlivých etáp synodálnej cesty v Rímskej diecéze, sa usiluje o hlbšie porozumenie konceptu synodality. Predkladá niekoľko postrehov, ktoré vzišli z procesu širokospektrálneho načúvania realizovaného na diecéznej úrovni a ktoré majú bezpochyby potenciál prispieť k efektívnejšiemu priebehu synodálnej cesty v Taliansku i v celej Cirkvi.
    Synodality represents a basic, constitutive dimension of the Church. It is the driving force giving life to missionary effort of the Church strongly emphasized by Pope Francis. Synodality is capable of reshaping all aspects of the Church in such a way that its customs, language, style of communication and structures become adequate means of evangelizing the contemporary world, and not just strategies of self-preservation. This contribution, based on the examination of the synodal way in the Roman Diocese, strives for a deeper understanding of the concept of synodality. It presents several incentives that emerged from the extensive process of listening realised at the diocesan level which undoubtedly have the potential to contribute to a more efficient proceeding of the synodal way in Italy and the entire Church.
