    The author in this research article analyses the names of witnesses in the period from Ancient Russia to the end of the 17th century. Vocabulary is analysed from the point of view of origin, semantics and sphere of usage. Russkaya Pravda (Rus’ Justice), birch bark manuscripts and business documents of the 15–17 centuries were used as research sources.

    This article assumes the introduction into scientific circulation of one of the rare items of the early medieval defensive weapons - a armoured glove. Details of the mitten and fibula are found in the Sochi district of the Krasnodar Region near the village of Lesnoye. Published items come from the amateur illegal excavations of the early 2000s, but are currently in the funds of the State Historical Museum in Moscow. In the note are drawings and photographs of things, as well as data of spectral analysis of the metal. Judging by the dating of the buckle from the destroyed complex, the findings should be attributed to the second half of the 6th century CE.

    The purpose of this article is an attempt to characterize the category of corporeality in the poetry by Vera Pavlova and to identify its sources. The analysis shows that this category is realized in different images and motifs, becoming the dominant poetics. In her works, the carnality is not limited to describing the man but it turns out to be an important, universal code that allows you to see the world in terms of unity and organicity. In this respect, Pavlova’s aesthetic exploration resembles the acmeist and – more distant – an ancient tradition.

    The article analyzes deantroponymic toponyms of Grodno land, recorded in written materials of 15th – 17th centuries in comparison with current data. The origin, structure and evolution of the areal features of Slavic and Baltic names are investigated to conform the language, cultural and historical features of the region. From the historical and etymological point of view different time strata can be allocated. An extensive group was formed by oikonyms of the Baltic and Slavic origin, derived from personal names and nicknames of appellative character. A significant part in the oikonyms group is the group based on foreign-language Christian names. The third group includes settlement names, derived from the ancient complex Indo-European names. The fourth group consists of hybrid of Balto-Slavic names; a typical feature of which is the reconstruction of a Slavic-Baltic bases, which corresponds to the chronology of the development of this territory. Baltic names in the investigated territory, in the form of phonetic and morphological substitution, are the evidence of close Balto-Slavic linguistic and cultural contacts. Many oikonyms of Baltic origin are preserved in the investigated territory as part of modern Belarusian surnames.
    Artykuł analizuje toponimy pochodzące od antroponimów na ziemi grodzieńskiej, odnotowane w materiałach piśmiennych od XV do XVII w. i porównuje je z aktualnymi danymi. Celem określenia językowych, kulturowych i historycznych uwarunkowań tego regionu zbadano strukturę i ewolucję przestrzenną cech nazw słowiańskich i bałtyckich. Z historycznego i etymologicznego punktu widzenia można wyznaczyć różne okresy. Liczną grupę tworzą ojkonimy pochodzenia bałtyckiego i słowiańskiego, tworzone od nazw osobowych i przydomków o charakterze apelatywnym. Znaczna część ojkonimów wywodzi się od obcojęzycznych imion chrześcijańskich. Trzecia grupa obejmuje nazwy osad, pochodzące od złożonych nazw indoeuropejskich. Na grupę czwartą składają się hybrydy nazw bałto-słowiańskich, zrekonstruowane od podstaw słowiańsko-bałtyckich, odpowiadające stosunkom etnicznym i historii osadnictwa na badanym obszarze. Nazwy bałtyckie na badanym terytorium, w formie substytucji fonetycznej i morfologicznej, dowodzą bliskich bałto-słowiańskich kontaktów językowych i kulturalnych. Liczne ojkonimy pochodzenia bałtyckiego zachowały się na badanym terytorium jako element występujący we współczesnych nazwiskach białoruskich.

    The article describes and analyzes an artistic context of valuable objects in famous texts of ancient Belarusian literature (16th century – the first half of the 17th century) from the perspective of art studies and antiquarian practice. According to the author valuable objects in famous books of ancient Belarusian literature comprise gold and silver coins, pearl and precious stones, inlaid cult objects and weapons, exotic plants and animals, antiquarian books, coats of arms, musical instruments, imported fabrics and luxurious interiors. In the artistic context all above-mentioned objects are symbols of beauty ideals and diversity of the Renaissance and early Baroque in Europe.

    To the history of the ancient family names format on of modern Belarus arealThe aim of the article is investigation of the ancient family names formation of the modern Belarus areal covering three aspects: areal topological, comparatively historical and lingua cultural.The Object Subject of the article is the etymological reconstruction of the anthroponymycal archetypes, cultural possibilities and modes of ancient family names conceptualization. We understand the term “ancient family names” as family naming in the XIV–XV centuries when this territory belong to the Great Principality of Lithuania. We attributed to the ancient family names’ nuclear composite and formed out of them short onomastic units that go back, regarding X. Krae, to the ancient European areal. Many anthroponymycal roots entering into the composition of ancient complex names are referred by investigators to the category of relict proper names.Methods of investigation is areal‑typological, comparatively‑historical and descriptive. Some methods of onomastic investigation such as etymological, structural and word‑formative analysis were also used.The scientific novelty of the investigation lies in the fact that we propose the concept of the ancient family names formation in Belarus areal in the context of the formation of the European anthroponymycal systems; singled out and systematize the corpus of ancient anthroponymycal and toponymycal lexemes of investigated areal and their etymological conceptual analysis was carried out.

    Multilingualism in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania as reflected in old antroponymsThis article analyses historical anthroponyms in the Vitebsk and Mogilyov areas of Belarus. The dialects of this area are categorised as transitional within the Balto-Slavic, West-East Slavic and Russian-Belorussian dialect continua. The materials used for the study are business texts from the 15–17th centuries as well as birth registers of the 17th and 18th centuries.The analysis has shown that in the eastern part of Belarus, the surnames of ancient knightly clans of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania are related to the history of a given territory. The anthroponyms reflect the phonetic, lexical, word-formation processes that have taken place in the languages of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. What is characteristic, the anthroponyms in the analysed region often mix and impose ranks. This has been caused by the difficulties in the development of antroponyms, as well as the interference of different languages and the cultural specifics of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

    В статье анализируются имена существительные среднего рода древней -t- основы типа тэля, функционирующие в украинских говорах современной Воронежской области России, выявляются особенности склонения данных имен. Привлекаются этимологические данные. В описываемых говорах имена существительные -t- основы выступают как имена среднего рода и представляют собой названия невзрослых существ, как и в украинском языковом пространстве. Ставится задача определения степени сохранности падежных формантов у подобных имен существительных в условиях интенсивного контактирования генетически родственных языков.
    The article analyses the neuter nouns of the ancient –tbase type of tel, functioning in the Ukrainian dialects of the contemporary Voronezh region of Russia. The analysis reveals the features of declension of these nouns. Etymological data have been studied. In the described dialects, the noun -t- bases act as neuter names and represent words for nonadult creatures, like in the Ukrainian language space. A scholar’s task is to determine the degree of preservation of case formants in these nouns in the conditions of intensive contacts between related languages.
