Opis:
The paper discusses the underresearched issue of the artistic anthropology of a “second-class” writer as a typological phenomenon, i.e. one which possesses semiotic characteristics independent of particular historical circumstances. Taking as examples Faddei Bulgarin, Mikhail Voskresensky, Alexander Yakhontov and others, the author shows that what they have in common is the kind of artistic reflection, typical of “second-class” writers. This reflection encompasses the following: defining their own place “on the Parnassus” as compared with the classics, interpreting the well-known verbal clichés and the way they construct their image as authors, taking into account certain literary benchmarks. The author of the paper reflects on the ambiguous nature of imitation and on its consequences, which might include an unjustified treatment of the “secondary” cultural phenomena as mere talentless epigonism. The author concludes by defining the position of the “second-class” writers as vulnerable, regardless if they aspire to a high status in the literary hierarchy or just assume the modest role of stewards of the cultural heritage and faithful satellites of the writers perceived as the coryphaei.
В статье рассматривается малоисследованный вопрос о художественной антропологии литератора «второго ряда» как явления типологического, обладающего семиотическими признаками, не зависящими от конкретного исторического времени. На примерах Ф. В. Булгарина, М. И. Воскресенского, А. Н. Яхонтова и других показано, что их сходство обусловлено свойственным «второстепенным писателям» общим характером литературно-творческой рефлексии. В основании ее лежат определение места таких писателей «на Парнасе» в соотношении с классиками; интерпретация ими признанных словесных образчиков; подход к формированию собственного писательского образа с учетом преломления в нем избранных литературных ориентиров. Развивается мысль о неоднозначной природе подражательства и его следствиях, которые могут состоять в неправомерной трактовке культуры «второстепенного» как бездарного эпигонства. Делается вывод об уязвимом положении писателей «второго ряда» вне зависимости от того, претендуют ли они на высокий статус в литературной иерархии или признают за собой роль скромных «проводников» культурного наследия и неизменных верных «спутников» писателей-«корифеев».

The author considers the correlation between grammar and pragmatics as a problem of functional linguistics. The discussion focuses on pragmatic restrictions concerning the use of grammatical forms, i.e., the extent to which the grammatical meaning corresponds to the characteristics of speech acts. In this respect, the author analyzes Russian imperfective verbs in the second person of indicative. The analysis of the material collected from the Internet corpus of the Russian language demonstrates that the verbs in the 2nd person form are rarely used to implement the representative (assertive) speech acts. However, the use of verbs of the 2nd person in the general-personal, indefinite-personal and in the meaning of the 1st person is very common. The author concludes that the pragmatic-cultural factor is decisive in limiting the use of the verbs in the 2nd person form.

A process of town foundation and the formation of the municipal self-government makes the first and most important step in the shaping of the city organism, this “living tissue” made up of people exercising power and those subjected to them, the rulers and the ruled. The knowledge of this process, occasionally very long, makes it possible to verify numerous questions about the formation of the power elite in the city. Within the system of municipal self-government - the City Council and the Bench – a group of people stood out as those who occupied the dominant positions and exercised the authority entrusted to these entities. They participated in court sittings, legalized property transactions, registered last wills etc. This group could be termed as the “power elite” - the term which is not fully clarified in the literature on the subject. In Lvov the power elite included city councilors, hereditary wójts (community heads), and jurors, who in the second half of the fourteenth century exercised power in the city. First references to the wójt and councilors date to 1350 and they prove the existence of fully crystallized municipal self-government in the city under German law prior to the renewed foundation of the city by King Casimir the Great in 1356. The whole group comprised of 43 persons, with a majority of German origin; but also with some people from Silesia, Toruń, Cracow, and in later years from the Crown Ruthenia. As regards their profession, usually they were merchants, sometimes very rich, trading with townsmen in Cracow, Wrocław, Toruń. Occasionally, there are some references to craftsmen designated as bench jurors. Thus, the social advancement meant to be appointed municipal juror, and then councilor, although the mobility of this group was quite significant. The post of hereditary wójt, which was taken over by the municipal authorities in 1378, lost its prestige. Gradually, before the early fifteenth century, a group of people emerged which entered the rank of city’s patriciate and could be defined as its power elite.

The article examines the Orthodox church music of Italian composers of the second half of the eighteenth century, who were invited to the capital of the Russian Empire for the post of first court bandmaster. The main duties of the Italian bandmasters were to compose secular music, especially operas for the court theater. The creation of choral concerts for the court choir that took part in church services with the participation of the first persons of the Russian Empire was not included in the contractual obligations. The main purpose of the appeal of Italian ban-dmasters to this area of creativity was to create a new church repertoire, which was closer in style to the European one. The domestic choir directors, brought up on the traditions of the old church singing art, did not cope with this task. The article contains an overview of the hand-written sources in which the sacred music of the Italian bandmasters was discovered.

Nowadays, it is hard to imagine internet culture without memes. To achieve a humorous effect, meme creators use various means, displaying unprecedented creativity. They often draw inspiration from cult Soviet comedies by Leonid Gaidai, Georgiy Daneliya, Vladimir Menshov, Eldar Ryazanov, Aleksandr Sery and other famous directors. This article is devoted to the analysis of iintertextual connections in Russian internet memes related to the current COVID-19 pandemic. The intertextual references can be in the form of a frame from a Soviet comedy, a movie catchphrase, or both at the same time. Catchphrases can be used in the analysed internet memes in their original version, or they can undergo various modifications, such as the replacement of some components and/or the extension of phrase composition. The fact of making use of a specific movie scene or catchphrase by meme creators proves that Soviet comedy is still deeply rooted in Russian culture. Soviet comedies begin to “live a new life” in internet memes.

Lysenkoism was a political campaign against genetics and science-based agriculture conducted by Trofim Lysenko, his followers and Soviet authorities. Many books on this theme were forbidden in Russia and published abroad. Novel The White Robes by Dudintsev is a fictionalized version of the devastation, which Lysenko wreaked on Soviet genetic study. Novels Nikolai Nikolaevich by Aleshkovsky and The Life and Extraordinary Adventures of Private Ivan Chonkin by Voinovich describe the topic in  a satirical style. The actuality of the theme is confirmed by its presence in Russian mass media in the form of materials aimed at justifying Lysenko's activity in the recent years.

The article discusses the semiotic parameters of the locus of the study room in the Russian novel from the second half of the 19th century. It outlines the socio-cultural context that makes this locus topical in the works of the Russian novelists from the epoch after the reforms. The given examples of presence of the study room in the novels of I. Turgenev, I. Goncharov, F. Dostoevsky and L. Tolstoy are interpreted in several principle aspects: – objects in the composition and its selection – the relation character – material detail – semantic transformations and their motivation.

The emergence of Ukrainian political emigration on the territory of the Second Polish Republic was due to the defeat of the Ukrainian revolution. The desire to settle on the territory of the Volyn Voivodship was motivated by the people’s eagerness to get into the Ukrainian-language, mostly Orthodox religious environment, which reduced the intensity of the psychological adaptation of the emigrants. The figure of Symon Petliura was controversially evaluated by various political environments, however, in the Volyn Voivodship, the chieftain’s companions treated him mainly respectfully. Starting from 1926, every year in May throughout all western Volyn mourning events took place in the form of memorial services, academies, presentations of abstracts. In the regional centers there were Ukrainian public committees to commemorate the memory of Petliura. The sympathizers of Symon Petliura offered the format of celebrations, their ideological content, celebrated the honor of the Chieftain by collecting funds for the assistance of the Symon Petliura Library in Paris and donations to the funds of the Museum of the Liberation Movement of Ukraine in Prague. Remembrance of the name of Symon Petliura played an important role in unifying emigration, the formation of historical memory. The beginning of the Second World War interrupted this tradition on the territory.

In order to investigate the book fairs participants’ attitude to such events and to use their potential with the professional purpose the second wave of sociological investigation was carried out in Kyiv. According to the survey of 44 respondents in 8 major cities in Ukraine, which carry on publishing, book business and printing activity, we defined a set of participants interests and needs, evaluation criteria and level of satisfaction. In particular, the subject of the investigation were: frequency, regularity and geography of participants, the main criteria for choice and evaluation of book fair, exhibitors’ purpose and main tasks, sources from which the participants got information about the fairs and preparation time for participation. On the base of evaluation the communicative, marketing, organizational components and exhibitors success has been formed an original rating of book fairs and exhibitions in Ukraine. Numerous practical advices to the participants and organizers of book fairs have been given for providing further competition and in order to create a successful book market.
W celu zbadania stosunku uczestników targów książki do tych wydarzeń oraz wykorzystania ich potencjału w branży, przeprowadzono w Kijowie drugi etap badania socjologicznego. Na podstawie wyników ankiety zrealizowanej w grupie 44 respondentów z 8 wielkich miast Ukrainy, w których działa branża wydawnicza, handel książką i poligrafia, zdefiniowano wspólne zainteresowania i potrzeby uczestników, kryteria oceny i poziom ich satysfakcji. Przedmiotem badania były m. in.: perio-dyczność, systematyczność i geografia udziału, podstawowe kryteria oce-ny i wyboru targów, cel i podstawowe zadania wystawców, źródła uzyska-nia informacji o targach oraz czas przygotowania do udziału w targach. Na podstawie oceny części komunikacyjnej, marketingowej i organiza-cyjnej oraz efektywności działalności wystawców ułożono swoisty ranking targów książki na Ukrainie. Uczestnicy i organizatorzy targów uzyskali praktyczne rekomendacje w dalszej działalności na rynku i rozwijania rynku książki, takie jak: zmiana nacisku i kryteriów wyboru targów, zwiększenie poziomu zawodowego uczestników i organizatorów, bardziej efektywne wykorzystanie baz danych i zawartości strony internetowej targów książki.
