    The paper “The Economics of Body: On Marta Syrwid’s Novels” aims, on the one hand, to sketch a portrait of the writer and place her within the space of the Polish literary field; on the other hand, it makes an attempt to interpret her first novel Zaplecze. The author of the text seek to break off with the dominant feminist existential perspective, in which Syrwid has been often inscribed by the critics. Instead, he proposes to view her writing as a continuation of the modern thinking (references are made to e.g. Kafka) about the subject in economic categories, that is as an impossible project of the complete breaking from and becoming independent of the outside reality.

    W artykule autor przedstawia znaczenie pojęcia traumy w koncepcji męskiej podmiotowości rozwijanej przez Kaję Silverman w książce pt. "Male Subjectivity at the Margins". Rozprawa Silverman pochodzi z 1992 roku, a więc z czasów, gdy powstawały kluczowe dla współczesnych gender i queer studies rozprawy Judith Butler, Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick czy Pierre’a Bourdieu (nieco później, bo w 1995 roku, została opublikowana równie kluczowa praca Raewyn W. Connell). Koncepcja Silverman ma podobny rozmach co wspomniane koncepcje, lecz nigdy nie zyskała takiej popularności i nie stała się kluczowa dla badań genderowych początku XXI wieku. Autor nie rozważa w artykule przyczyn, dla których tak się stało, lecz stara się ukazać drzemiący w niej potencjał teoretyczny.
    The article is an attempt to present the importance of the category of trauma in the titular concept of Kaja Silverman’s "Male Subjectivity at the Margins" published in 1992. Her theoretical work appeared at the same time as other important gender and queer theories developed by Judith Butler, Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick or Pierre Bourdieu (also R.W. Connell’s seminal work on masculinity published a little bit later in 1995). Silverman’s work has similar scope as the remaining mentioned works, but it has never reached their level of popularity and its position within the field of gender studies is constantly underestimated. This article focuses on possibilities offered by Silverman’s approach for gender research.

    In the contemporary hispanic literature, one of the dominant phenomena is the so-called "narconovela"or „narconarrative” tendency, i.e. fictions that show the violent reality of the drug trafficking and the broadly defined (social, cultural, ethical, axiological, etc.) consequences of the cartels' activities. The narconovela reached its peak at the end of the 1990s and the first decade of the 21st century. In recent years, however, the Colombian narconovela has seen the emergence of a tendency of a settlement with the Pablo Escobar era, attempts to work out the time of the great drug cartels and the war waged by the drug barons against the Colombian state; a war that has affected public figures but has also, and perhaps above all, affected ordinary citizens. In the generation of writers born in the late 1960s and 1970s, the era of narcoterrorism is an important point of reference as a formative period in which they were children, adolescents, entering adulthood with a sense of constant threat, uncertainty and omnipresent violence. Nowadays, in novels such as El ruido de las cosas al caer (Polish translation by Tomasz Pindel) by Juan Gabriel Vásquez (born in 1973), published in 2011, or the posterior El cielo a tiros by Jorge Franco (born in 1964), published in 2018, the authors return to their experiences from that period, creating literary attempts to summarize, settle accounts with those times and the legacy they left behind in the generation of children and young people of that time. In the paper 'Pablo Escobar’s Heritage. Trauma and the Perspective of the Victims in El ruido de las cosas al caer by Juan Gabriel Vásquez’, Adriana Sara Jastrzębska analyses the novel as an example of the first literary attempt of overcoming trauma and settling accounts with the past, indicating at the same time the privileged perspective and the voice of the victims and the subversion of the dominating paradigm of the aesthetic and ethical configuration of the represented world within the narconovela tendency.
