Opis:
Nursing home, designed in a modernist trend, is a place of isolation of older people from society. A new approach in the design of such facilities is to create a therapeutic environment, changing their role and importance in the urban space. Changes in the theoretical approach in designing take place in two contexts: on the inner space, involving the creation of friendly and stimulating living conditions and outer space including integration with the environment. The therapeutic approach is presented in an exemplary project, which focuses on the importance and position of the residents, the organization, forms of architectural and interior design as well as relationships with the public and surrounding space.

The article is devoted to an attempt to present a biographical approach in pedagogical research, taking into account not only exploratory but also therapeutic functions of narrative interviews. The reflections focus of looking for the answer to the question: whether and to what extent telling a story of one’s life (especially marked by traumatic experiences) may contribute to integrating the past and the present, increasing self-awareness, and thus (re-)constructing the narrator’s identity? I ask a question about the conditions to be met in order for the narrator to realize the limitations posed by the past and next to overcome the crisis by pointing out the main motives of action, epiphanies, crises, or breakthrough moments.

The article focuses on the phenomenon of therapeutic culture that is considered as a set of patterns of thinking and acting concentrated on human’s inner life. Nowadays we perceive our emotions and feelings as a key elements of identity problems, therefore we’re searching help in coaches and therapists’ studies. In higher education the therapeutic ethos is manifested by an affirmative action and reduced requirements for students. The result of treating students’ emotional needs as a priority is the decline of teaching quality and reducing the distance necessary for transmission of knowledge and skills. The solution might be developing emotional competence seen as a way of character building.
Celem artykułu jest zasygnalizowanie obecności we współczesnej kulturze etosu terapeutycznego, który rozumiany jest jako zbiór wzorców myślenia i postępowania nakierowanych na życie wewnętrzne człowieka. Koncentracja na swoich emocjach i uczuciach powoduje, że zaczynamy je postrzegać jako kluczowe elementy naszej tożsamości, a ich chwiejność zmusza nas do poszukiwania wsparcia na zewnątrz – u doradców, coachów i psychoterapeutów. Kultura terapeutyczna zadomowiła się w obszarze edukacji wyższej w postaci akcji afirmatywnej i obniżania standardów nauczania. Traktowanie potrzeb emocjonalnych studentów jako priorytetowych obniża jakość kształcenia i redukuje dystans między wykładowcami a uczniami, który jest potrzebny do przekazywania umiejętności i wiedzy. Remedium na ten stan rzeczy jest kształtowanie kompetencji emocjonalnych rozumianych jako praca nad charakterem (samowychowanie).

According to the author, Article 9 para. 2 of the proposed wording of the Act on Laboratory Diagnostics should expressly state that the resolution on the entry in the register of laboratory diagnosticians must be taken by the National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians “immediately” after the adoption by this authority of a resolution in which it gives a person the right to practice the profession. In the draft provisions the legislature should not limit itself to succinct naming the profession of laboratory diagnostician an “independent” profession, but should also indicate in what such independence of the profession consists and how should be manifested. As pointed out by the author of the opinion, the proposed Article 6 para. 2 of the Act on Laboratory Diagnostics in its current wording is completely inconsistent with Article 16g para. 3 of the Act on the Professions of Physician and Dentist. The bill requires further legislative work.

Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą kontekstowej prezentacji i krytycznej analizy społeczeństwa terapeutycznego. Bazując na trzech zastrzeżeniach związanych z pracą Katie Wright, prezentuję zwięzłą historię idei społeczeństwa terapeutycznego w perspektywie zmian społecznych i kulturowych, począwszy od drugiej połowy lat 60., oraz przemian w obszarze zdrowia publicznego i polityki zdrowotnej. Główni teoretycy „zwrotu terapeutycznego”, Thomas Szasz, Philip Rieff i James L. Nolan, których prace stanowią główną inspirację dla Wright, postrzegają społeczeństwo terapeutyczne jako niepokojące zjawisko nierozerwalnie związane z kondycją amerykańskiej psychiatrii początków drugiej połowy XX wieku. W niniejszym artykule proponuję odmienne podejście od dominującego kanonu interpretacji, dlatego w drugiej części przedstawiam analizę fenomenu Prozacu, symptomatyczną dla zjawiska społeczeństwa terapeutycznego. Następnie, badając kontekst omawianego zjawiska, przywołuję koncepcję healthismu Roberta Crawforda. W czwartej części koncentruję się na problemie pozytywnej interpretacji społeczeństwa terapeutycznego w perspektywie koncepcji Health-in-All-Policies, stanowiącej udaną próbę redefinicji społecznego znaczenia zdrowia. W ostatniej części prezentuję Strategię walki z rakiem w Polsce 2015‒2024 jako przykład pozytywnej interpretacji społeczeństwa terapeutycznego, której podstawowy sens zasadza się na solidarności pomiędzy światem zdrowych a mniejszością ludzi chorych. 
 The article is an attempt to contextual presentation and critical analysis of the idea, as well as phenomenon of the therapeutic society. Starting from three methodological reservations with respect to Katie Wright’s (2010) comprehensive study, I try to show a brief history of the therapeutic society in the perspective of social and cultural change since the late 60s. The well-known theoreticians of “therapeutic shift”, Thomas Szasz, Philip Rieff, and James L. Nolan Jr., see the therapeutic society as an alarming phenomenon deeply related to American psychiatry and psycho-politics of 60s and 70s. In this paper, I try to present another approach. First part is devoted to the analysis of the transformation of contemporary therapeutic and medical culture. In the second part, commenting Peter D. Kramer’s Listening to Prozac, I trace the origins, as well as crucial symptoms of the therapeutic society. In next part, I focus on the Robert Crawford’s idea of healthism that I see as a parallel phenomenon to the therapeutic society. Then, according to the idea of Health in All Policies, I consider the possibilities of positive and more integrative interpretation of the therapeutic society. In the final part, I present and comment the crucial element of this paper. Based on the political reading, I present The Polish Cancer Control Strategy 2014- 2024 as a new form of therapeutic society primarily focused on solidarity between healthy majority and sick minority.

Cerebral palsy is a set of symptoms caused by the damage of the central nervous system during its development. People affected by cerebral palsy require care from a multidisciplinary team of therapists. The positive impact of the people close to a patient plays a crucial role. Since playing board games is a popular leisure activity, this article aims at encouraging people to engage a disabled person in this form of entertainment. The conclusions are based on the observations made by the author, who has worked with people affected by cerebral palsy for several years.

Every day a teacher, especially a speech therapist who works with the youngest children, uses a variety of texts that are helpful in improving the child language. Cognitive, therapeutic and educational values (and learning outcomes) presented in A Songbook for Children [Śpiewnik dla dzieci] by Maria Konopnicka multiply educational and therapeutic benefits, which is usually achieved by a set of repeated language and articulation exercises. It should be emphasized that the poet uses a beautiful poetic language that is tailored to the developmental needs of the child. What is more, even in the 21st century Konopnicka’s style of writing should be appreciated as it is so simple that makes a child repeat her songs easily and with pleasure. This is why, frequently repeated sequences of words may contribute to correct pronunciation.

Udowadnia, że poezja Świrszczyńskiej ma wymiar terapeutyczny, jest jednocześnie autoterapią oraz próbą przepracowania kobiecych, pokoleniowych i tożsamościowych traum.
The article presents a new look at the work of Anna Świrszczyńska. It proposes a reinterpretation of the poet's lyrics using the category of trauma and memory present in the new humanities. It proves that Świrszczyńska's poetry has a therapeutic dimension, being at the same time self-therapy and an attempt to work through female, generational, and identity traumas.

The article presents and emphasises any early actions and planned activities taken to support the development of children who are in the early stages of development visible symptoms of atypical brain development (ABD). The methods and forms of early therapeutic intervention and its impact on children’s development are discussed on the selected case studies. It should be pointed out that the need for multidisciplinary diagnosis of children and then the consequences of the lack of specialised holistic therapy, which should be implemented are also indicated in the article. What is more, the article presents a proposal for “Therapeutic work program for children with ABD”, containing physical development, visual perception and spatial orientation, speech and thinking development and improvement of reading skills. The above-mentioned program is a good example of supporting the early development of children from infancy period till a primary school period.

Niemiecka dyskusja na temat podstawy legalności interwencji leczniczej koncentruje się zasadniczo, podobnie jak w Polsce, wokół pytania, czy interwencja taka wyczerpuje istotę czynu zabronionego. Odpowiedzi pozytywnej udziela koncepcja określana jako Rechtfertigungslösung zaś koncepcja zwana Tatbestandslösung odpowiada na to pytanie negatywnie. Pierwsza z tych koncepcji, reprezentowana od ponad stu lat przez niemieckie orzecznictwo i część doktryny, opiera się na założeniu, że interwencja lekarska, naruszająca integralność cielesną wyczerpuje ustawową istotę czynu zabronionego uszkodzenia ciała z § 223 1 StGB, niezależnie od jej leczniczego celu lub skutku oraz od zachowania reguł sztuki przez lekarza. Legalność takiej interwencji wymaga zaistnienia okoliczności wyłączającej bezprawność (Rechtfertigungsgrund), jaką jest prawnie skuteczna zgoda pacjenta. Druga z wymienionych koncepcji przyjmuje – z pewnymi różnicami w kwestiach szczegółowych – że interwencja lecznicza, wynikająca ze wskazań medycznych i przeprowadzona lege artis nie wyczerpuje istoty czynu zabronionego z § 223 StGB. Część zwolenników Tatbestandslösung uniezależnia powyższą oceną od zgody pacjenta, a część wymaga zaistnienia zgody, uznając ją okoliczność wyłączającą istotę czynu zabronionego. Tytułowy spór jest w istotnej mierze uwarunkowany brakiem w prawie niemieckim odrębnej podstawy ochrony karnej prawa pacjenta do samostanowienia i poszukiwaniem jej w § 223 StGB. Fundamentalnym przedmiotem przedstawionej dyskusji jest jednak też pytanie, czy uwzględniać w ocenie prawnej uboczne i nieuniknione dolegliwości dla ludzkiego organizmu, nieuchronnie związane z interwencją leczniczą.
The German discussion on the grounds of the legality of therapeutic intervention is essentially focused, as in Poland, around the question of whether such an intervention fulfils the statutory elements of a prohibited act. The affirmative answer is provided by the conception referred to as the Rechtfertigungslösung, while the conception called Tatbestandslösung responds negatively to this question. The first of these positions, represented for more than a century by German jurisdiction and part of the doctrine, is based on the assumption that therapeutic intervention violating the integrity of the body fulfils the statutory elements of the criminal act of § 223 1 P.C., regardless of its healing the purpose or effect and compliance with the rules of art by the doctor. The legality of such an intervention requires the existence of a circumstance excluding unlawfulness (Rechtfertigungsgrund), which is the valid consent of the patient. The second of the concepts mentioned above assumes – with some differences in specific issues – that therapeutic intervention resulting from medical indications and carried out lege artis does not fulfil the statutory elements of the crime of bodily harm. Some supporters of Tatbestandslösung make this assessment independent of the consent of the patient, but some require consent, recognizing it as an exclusion of the statutory element of a prohibited act. The title dispute is to a large extent conditioned by the lack of a separate basis in German law for the criminal protection of the right of the patient to self-determination and seeking it in § 223 P.C. The fundamental subject of the presented discussion is, however, the question of whether to include in the legal assessment the side and unavoidable ailments for the human organism, inevitably occasioned by therapeutic intervention.

One of the most discussed topics about organization of the Polish health care system is providing full accessibility to the financing of the latest drug therapies. According to the institutions implementing the programs most serious causes of problems in access to innovative pharmacotherapy are too low level of funding programs and their low profitability, or even hospitals pay the extra to such benefits. Due to the increasingly high cost of treatment of severe illnesses and ongoing development of new medical technologies, in choosing the method of treatment are taken into account the results of economic analyzes. The authors, by analyzing the level of funding and implementation of treatment programs, have attempted to answer the question whether the claims are true, and health care providers and Polish patients have equal access to the most expensive drug therapies? To verify the above hypothesis also performed an cost analysis of selected therapeutic programs. Cost analysis conducted based on the identification and analysis of the costs of four therapeutic health programs indicated that the refund value of National Health Fund for providers implementing health programs may be substantially higher than the costs incurred by them. The current way of financing most expensive innovation therapy has many weaknesses, but most frequently mentioned causes of the problems with the availability of treatment programs are not supported by actual data.

CEL NAUKOWY: Celem artykułu jest analiza myśli politycznej Philipa Rieffa, a zwłaszcza jego teorii kultury terapeutycznej i charyzmy, w kontekście szeroko rozumianej problematyki legitymizacji. W szczególności interesują mnie następujące kwestie: 1) Teoria kultury terapeutycznej Rieffa; 2) Miejsce autorytetu w kulturze terapeutycznej; 3) Spór z Maxem Weberem dotyczący rozumienia charyzmy. PROBLEM I METODY BADAWCZE: W artykule zajmuję się problemem prawomocności autorytetu w kulturze, która programowo jest jemu niechętna. Sięgam w tym celu do teorii kultury Rieffa, aby znaleźć odpowiedź na dwa główne pytania. Pierwsze, bardziej ogólne: Dlaczego we współczesnej kulturze autorytet napotyka na tak silny sprzeciw? Drugie, bardziej szczegółowe: Jakie miejsce w tym kontekście zajmuje charyzma? Artykuł jest studium z zakresu myśli politycznej, osadzonym w tradycji hermeneutycznej. PROCES WYWODU: Punktem wyjścia wywodu jest zarysowanie koncepcji kultury terapeutycznej Rieffa. Dowodzę, że wyłonienie się tego typu kultury stwarza trudności dla funkcjonowania autorytetu. Pojęciem charyzmy posługuję się jako kategorią, która może być potraktowana jako, w pewnej mierze, antidotum na kryzys autorytetu. Nie zgadzam się jednak z dominującą w naukach społecznych teorią charyzmy Webera. Odwołując się do Rieffa, staram się przeformułować tę koncepcję. WYNIKI ANALIZY NAUKOWEJ: Twierdzę, że kultura terapeutyczna jest wielkim wyzwaniem dla uprawomocnienia autorytetu. Charyzma może być inspiracją, ale pod warunkiem, że przeformułujemy jej sposób rozumienia. Charyzmę powinniśmy przede wszystkim pojmować jako zdolność do odtwarzania systemu norm, bez którego nie może istnieć żaden ład polityczny. WNIOSKI, INNOWACJE, REKOMENDACJE: Na zjawisko charyzmy powinniśmy spojrzeć w bardziej przychylny sposób. Charyzma, właściwie rozumiana, jest nam potrzebna, zwłaszcza w małych społecznościach.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of this article is to analyze Philip Rieff’s political thought, especially his theory of therapeutic culture and charisma, in the context of the broadly understood problem of legitimation. In particular, I am interested in the following issues: 1) Rieff’s theory of therapeutic culture; 2) The place of authority in therapeutic culture; 3) A dispute with Max Weber about understanding charisma. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: This article deals with the problem of the legitimacy of authority in a culture that is programmatically reluctant to it. To this end, I turn to Philip Rieff’s theory of culture to answer two main questions. The first, more general: Why is authority so strongly opposed in contemporary culture? The second, more specific: What is the place of charisma in this context? This article is a study of political thought in hermeneutical tradition. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The starting point of my argument is to outline Philip Rieff’s concept of therapeutic culture. I argue that the emergence of this type of culture creates difficulties for the functioning of authority. I use the concept of charisma as a category that can be treated, to some extent, as an antidote to the crisis of authority. However, I do not agree with Weber’s theory of charisma, which is dominant in social sciences. Referring to Philip Rieff, I am trying to reformulate this concept. RESEARCH RESULTS: I argue that the therapeutic culture poses a great challenge to the legitimization of authority. Charisma may be a source of inspiration, but only if we reformulate its understanding. Charisma should first of all be understood as the ability to recreate a system of norms without which no political order can exist. The category of trust has been considered in numerous philosophical, sociological, psychological, economic, legal, and educational deliberations. The issue of whether trust occurs in or is absent from human relationships has been widely discussed in the social discourse and has been a component of social capital of organisations.This paper reviews interdisciplinary literature to characterise and describe the phenomenon, identifying its dimensions, types, and patterns. It focuses on interpersonal trust as a factor characterising the functioning in organisations, also with reference to educational institutions. The author also identifiestrust in the context of helping relationships in which it is a component of the contractforming process between those who provide and those who use help, of establishing and developing relationships.
