    Problemy poruszane w artykule w istocie odnoszą się do szeroko rozumianej socjologii płci i dyskursu z obszaru gender studies. Postawiłyśmy sobie następujące pytania badawcze: Na ile możliwa jest genderowa analiza dyskursu odnoszącego się do problematyki płci w odniesieniu do sytuacji zagrożenia bezpieczeństwa narodowego i walki? Na ile proces militaryzacji konstruuje role kobiet? Możemy zatem pokusić się o pytanie: Czy rzeczywiście żołnierz nie ma płci? W tekście podjęłyśmy próbę „napisania na nowo” wyrywku historii kobiet walczących – stąd analizie poddano teksty powstałe w rzeczywistości wojennej. Uznałyśmy, że pozwoli to na ukazanie ówczesnej perspektywy. Interesuje nas sam język przekazu, utrwalający schematy, archetypy, a być może na obrzeżach ukrywający nowe interpretacje. Do opisu tego posłużyła nam metoda analizy pól semantycznych. Jako teksty źródłowe wybrałyśmy teksty piosenek napisane w rzeczywistości wojennej, szczególnie tuż przed powstaniem warszawskim i w jego trakcie.
    The issues discussed in the article relate to sociology of gender and gender discourse in the area of gender studies. The following research questions were asked in this paper: Is it possible to adapt gender discourse analysis to the context of national security threats and fights? ‒ or in other words ‒ To what extend the process of militarization constructs the roles of women? Thus, is it true that a soldier does not have gender? The authors attempt to rewrite the history of militant women. Therefore, texts created in the times of war were analysed in the paper. Hopefully, it will show the contemporary perspective. The authors are interested in language, which preserves patterns and archetypes, but it may also reveal new interpretations. The semantic field analysis was used for the description and the lyrics written in the reality of war, especially ‒ just before and during the Warsaw Uprising were selected as source texts.

    Kobieta z początku XXI wieku jest już kimś zupełnie innym niż sto lat wcześniej: ma inne zajęcia, ambicje, inny status społeczny i stawiane są jej inne wymagania. Relacje międzyludzkie oraz rzeczywistość obyczajowa również różnią się od tych, w których funkcjonować miała kobieta jeszcze przed stoma laty. Czynnikami które odgrywały istotną rolę i które decydowały o miejscu kobiet w społeczeństwie, poza płcią, były wiek i pozycją społeczna. Obowiązujące uregulowania prawne, sposób postrzegania przez społeczeństwo, stosowane wzorce zachowań czy zakres wolności osobistej różniły się w zależności od tego, czy kobieta była mężatką, wdową, panną. W ujęciu antropologicznym należy zauważyć, iż każda epoka historyczna wypracowała swoiste wzorce kulturowe, ale dopiero powstanie nowoczesnych społeczeństw zaowocowało znaczącymi zmianami jakościowymi.
    A woman from the beginning of the twenty-first century is someone completely different than a hundred years ago: she has different activities, ambitions, different social status and different demands are placed on her. Interpersonal relationships and moral reality are also different from those in which a woman was supposed to function a hundred years ago. The factors that played an important role and that determined the place of women in society, beyond gender, were age and social position. The applicable legal regulations, the way society perceived, the patterns of behavior used or the scope of personal freedom differed depending on whether the woman was married, widowed or maiden. In anthropological terms, it should be noted that each historical epoch has developed specific cultural patterns, but it was only the emergence of modern societies that resulted in significant qualitative changes.

    Opis:
    The present-day media and women's magazines in particular, offer articles on different aspects of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship. They present the relationship problems that arise between the mother, her married son and her daughter-in-law as well as the mother-in-law's unacceptable behaviour, her taking part in running the household and participation in bringing up the grandchildren. The magazines also include advice, both for the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law, which focuses on the positive aspects of their mutual relations. Analysing the articles on contemporary mothers-in-law, it can be seen that the mother-in-law's image they produce remains in keeping with commonplace stereotypes. The older woman's faults are often exaggerated; her values, beliefs and her chosen style of living are disregarded. A responsibility for the problems young married couples experience is attributed to her. The editors of women's magazines, in an effort to bring about a modification of the stereotype, show how to change and improve daughter-in-law and mother-in-law relationships.

    Opis:
    The article concentrate on several aspects related to the person of Saint Thecla. One of the most important issues is the presentation of Thecla as historical figure and her role – a female Saint equal to the apostles – in the history of Christianity. Another aspect of the considerations is the searching for this saint woman iconography based on the analysis of the oldest surviving examples in comparison with the content of the hagiographic “Acts of Paul and Thecla”, which were written in the 2nd and 3rd centuries after Christ. The considerations were used in the development of an iconographic pattern, which contains historiographic premises of presenting the first martyr Saint Thecla on the Deacon’s Doors into the orthodox church of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Topilec village.

    Celem artykułu jest ukazanie działalności pisarskiej i oświatowej polskich kobiet na przełomie XIX i XX wieku, która obejmowała nie tylko wiedzę z zakresu różnych dziedzin życia, tj. „wiedzę nienaukową”, ale także „wiedzę naukową” z rozmaitych obszarów intensywnie rozwijających się wtedy dyscyplin naukowych. W części pierwszej autorka przedstawia etapy wykształcenia, czyli merytoryczne przygotowanie kobiet do działalności popularyzatorskiej, zaś w części drugiej dokonuje wstępnej klasyfikacji piśmiennictwa popularnonaukowego ze względu na tematykę oraz formy gatunkowe, podając odpowiednie przykłady utworów (tytuły), zaczerpnięte z dziewiętnastowiecznych katalogów bibliograficznych. Do gatunków popularyzujących wiedzę naukową autorka zalicza teksty paraliterackie: powiastki i powieści o tematyce dydaktycznej i umoralniającej, powieści obyczajowe, powieści historyczne, a także fabularyzowane biografie sławnych ludzi. Oddzielną grupę stanowią monografie popularnonaukowe (będące często kryptopodręcznikami), pogadanki, odczyty, opowiadania i tzw. „obrazki” o tematyce naukowej (najczęściej przyrodniczej). Autorka zauważa, iż gatunkowe wzorce literatury popularnonaukowej przybyły do Polski z Europy Zachodniej i początkowo miały charakter przekładów oraz wyborów tekstów z polskimi komentarzami i parafraz; stopniowo jednak zaczęły powstawać dzieła oryginalne mówiące o polskich wynalazkach naukowych.
    The aim of the article is presentation of writing activity of Polish women at the turn of the 19th and 20th century, which covered not only knowledge of various areas of life - “unscientific knowledge”, but also “scientific knowledge” comprising diverse, intensely advancing scientific disciplines. In the first part of the article, the author presents stages of education that is the preparation of women for popularizing activity, while in the second part she makes preliminary classification of popular science literature because of subject matter and genre forms. The author indicates thematic and genre groups, by specifying adequate work examples (titles), taken from 19th century bibliographic catalogues. She assimilated paraliterary works (didactic and moralizing novels, novels of manners, historical novels as well as fictionalized biographies of famous scholars) to genres popularizing scientific knowledge. Scientific monographs, lectures, readings, and novels make up a separate group. The author notes that genre patterns of popular science literature came to Poland from Western Europe and initially were in nature of translations and excerpts of texts with Polish commentary and paraphrases. Over time, original works speaking about Polish scientific discoveries and inventions began to arise.

    Na podstawie wspomnień lekarza Czerwonego Krzyża i Laury de Turczynowicz w artykule opisano przeżycia kobiet z okresu I wojny światowej. Przedstawiono okoliczności w jakich kobiety dowiedziały się o wybuchu wojny i jak zareagowały na tę wiadomość. Zarysowane zostały wojenne trudności oraz omówiono wspomnienia, które pozostały z tego okresu. W artykule podano przykłady dezorganizacji funkcjonowania Czerwonego Krzyża na ziemiach polskich pod zaborem rosyjskim. Wyjaśniono także rodzaj prac wykonywanych przez kobiety w organizacjach sanitarnych. Omówiono też przywileje wynikające z przynależności do Czerwonego Krzyża oraz jego wpływ na pozycję społeczną kobiet.
    The following article contains descriptions of the experiences of women during the First World War, based on the memoirs of a Red Cross doctor and Laura de Turczynowicz. The article depicts the circumstancesin which women learned about and reacted to the outbreak of the war. It outlines the difficulties brought about by the war and presents some examples of the disorganization of the Red Cross in the Polish territories under Russian rule. The author of the article discusses the duties of women in health organizations as well as the advantages of being amember of the Red Cross which determined women’s social position.

    From the very beginning, presence of women-mothers in the labor market have been causing a lot of controversy. The intellectual women’s work was particular condemn as an improper and disgraceful. Working women-mothers were blaming for withdrawal from the natural role: the patroness of heart. How are the conviction created by the very popular medium as a television series in the present time? Does it important that in many European countries, women represent more than half of all employees? Does it change a perception and representation the vocational role of the mothers? The aim of the article is an analysis of selected Polish and American television series for the characters working women-mothers and the way they are presented.

    The article discusses the necessity of providing an effective support for women who play the mother’s role. Among many categories of social support, “provision of services” was analyzed, because much research shows that this kind of support is needed. In the view of playing the role of a mother this kind of service would aim at supporting women in performing the duties which result from the fact that they are mothers, for instance, taking care of the child during the mother’s absence. It seems that this kind of support is especially in need, because many women, who decide to be mothers, come across many difficulties, mainly connected with taking care of the baby. It happens due to the fact that mothers, apart from running the household and taking care of the children, are in a regular employment. Nowadays it seems to be crucial to improve the quality and availability of this kind of support, because the one that is now offered, seems to be ineffective and insufficient.

Jest próbą syntetycznej analizy ich życia prywatnego, naukowego oraz zaangażowania społeczno-politycznego. Poszukuje odpowiedzi na pytania, czy nie przeceniona została rola pierwszej damy oraz czy bilans zysków i strat zawsze był wartością dodaną dla samej żony prezydenta, a także jej najbliższych.
    The purpose of this article is to present the biographies of the first ladies of the Third Polish Republic: Barbara Jaruzelska, Danuta Walesa and Jolanta Kwasniewska, as women who had a significant impact on the lives and activities of their spouses while they served as President of the Republic of Poland. It is an attempt to synthetically analyze their private lives, their scientific lives and their socio-political involvement. It seeks answers to the questions of whether the role of the first lady has been overestimated, and whether the balance of gains and losses has always been an added value for the president’s wife herself, as well as her loved ones.

    Wprowadzenie. Współczesnej kobiecie wzrasta zakres obowiązków i nieustannie poszerza się repertuar nowych ról. Szczególnie jednak naznaczona i obarczona oddźwiękiem społecznym jest rola matki. Macierzyństwo stanowi przedmiot analiz wielu badaczy. Najczęściej pozostaje ono w obszarze zainteresowań demografów, psychologów, socjologów i pedagogów. Jest to temat uznawany za stale aktualny, popularny zarówno w dyskursie naukowym, jak i w dyskusji społecznej. Ważne jest zatem permanentne zgłębianie tej problematyki, ukazujące również nowe konteksty – w tym przypadku nawiązano do sytuacji matek w czasie pandemii COVID-19. Cel. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie społecznego postrzegania współczesnych kobiet w kontekście roli matki oraz w odniesieniu do wyborów życiowych przez nie dokonywanych. Kolejnym celem jest zaprezentowanie występujących stanowisk wobec macierzyństwa czy dyskursów jego dotyczących, a także zwrócenie uwagi na sytuację matek w Polsce spowodowaną pandemią COVID-19. Materiały i metody. W niniejszym opracowaniu, stanowiącym przegląd literatury, zastosowano także metodę badawczą desk research. Wyniki i wnioski. Z przedstawionych analiz wyłaniają się różne kategorie współczesnych kobiet, w tym matek, i różnorodność ich postrzegania w kontekście tej roli. Aby można było przygotować rozwiązania (w obszarze polityki społecznej), które wspierałyby je wszystkie (niezależnie od ich preferencji), ważna jest znajomość poszczególnych grup kobiet. Nie chodzi o nakłanianie każdej do macierzyństwa, ale o stworzenie warunków do jego podejmowania i pełnienia tym osobom, które dzieci rzeczywiście chcą, oraz wspomaganie ich w łączeniu i godzeniu ról. W wyniku pojawienia się pandemii COVID-19 jest to tym bardziej potrzebne, ponieważ jej wybuch wzmocnił tradycyjny podział obowiązków i zjawisko retradycjonalizacji, które kobietom nie sprzyja.
    Introduction. The responsibilities of a contemporary woman are increasing, and the repertoire of new roles is constantly expanding. However, the role of the mother is particularly marked, and burdened with a „social response”. Motherhood is the subject of analysis by many researchers. Most often it remains in the area of interest of demographers, psychologists, sociologists, and pedagogists. This topic is considered to be constantly relevant, popular both in the scientific discourse and in social discussion. Therefore, it is important to constantly explore this issue; they also reveal new contexts – in this case, the situation of mothers during the Covid-19 pandemic was referred to. Aim. The aim of the article is to present the social perception of contemporary women in the context of the mother role, the category of women in relation to their life choices and to present positions, or discourses regarding motherhood, as well as to draw attention to the situations of mothers (in Poland) caused by the Covid pandemic-19. Materials and methods. This publication is a literature review. The desk research method was also used. Results and conclusions. The presented analyses reveal various categories of contemporary women, including mothers and the diversity of their perception in the context of this role. In order to be able to prepare solutions (in the field of social policy) supporting them all (regardless of their preferences), it is important to know particular groups of women. It is not about persuading everyone to motherhood, but about helping to combine and reconcile the roles of those who really want children. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, this is all the more necessary, as its outbreak has reinforced traditional division of responsibilities and the phenomenon of retrationalization, which is not favorable to women.
