The purpose of this article is to present the results of research concern setting of motivated and cognitive strategies in learning goals achieving by students with and without dyslexia in secondary school. The study included 110 students studying in secondary schools in the Mazovian region. The study used questionnaire Goal Orientations and Learning Strategies Survey (GOAL-S) M. Dowson and D.M. McInerney (2004) in the Polish adaptation of A. Dłużniewska and I. Kucharczyk. Detailed analysis of the results indicates the relationship between the kind of motivation and choice of cognitive and metacognitive strategies of learning. The current study allows to extract factors that are important in achieving success in academic achievements of students with and without special educational needs.

A dynamic development of the option market on the one hand and finance engineering on the other, have opened the way to construction of a lot of option strategies aiming at hedging, speculations or arbitrage. The article discusses the option strategies that are most frequently used by investors. Among them there are the simplest strategies consisting in buying and selling of uncovered options as well as more advanced complex ones. These include covered strategies and spread and combination constructions, addressed first of all to experienced investors. When characterizing particular strategies special attention is paid to the following questions: in what way and when a given construction should be used, and what are the consequences of using it. The article presents both directed strategies, that is ones aiming at a change of the underlying instrument, exemplified by the bull and bear spread, and strategies based on volatility of the given instrument, like the butterfly spread.

Opis:
Foreign language classes at university should enhance not only knowledge of foreign languages but with the use of different methods, should also develop skills of communication strategies, which are very important to compensate for deficits in communication. These strate-gies are indispensable for language learners irrespective of their level of proficiency. The objective of the study described in the present pa-per is to explore the communication strategies used by Polish students at different levels of knowledge of Italian. Data was collected by two types of questionnaires, one including two open-ended questions. The other was based on a Likert-scale method which examined the fre-quency of usage of avoidance strategies, verbal and non verbal strate-gies, as well as the strategy of transfer. Emphasis was placed on the re-lationship between the use of types of communication strategies and students’ level of proficiency. In the final part the author recommends types of lexical exercises which should be practised during classes to help students to develop their communicative skills.

The aim of this work was to investigate which strategies for coping with stress are chosen the most often by truck drivers. The purpose of this research was also to define the relation between perceived stress and stress management strategies used in this professional group. The study involved a group of 120 lorry drivers aged from 22 to 67 years. The drivers were examined with the Questionnaire for Subjective Evaluation of Work by Bohdan Dudek et al. (1999) and the Mini-COPE Questionnaire which is the shortened Polish version of the Charles Carver and his colleagues’ COPE Questionnaire in polish adaptation of Siegfried Juczyński and Nina Oginska-Bulik (2009). Drivers choose the most often search for instrumental support-strategy. The strongest positive correlation occurred between the overall levels of stress and taking psychoactive substances strategy. The strongest negative correlation occurred between the overall level of stress and planning strategy. The overall level of occupational stress tested drivers significantly correlated with all chosen coping strategies.

The aim of the present article is to determine the extent to which Apollo Nałęcz-Korzeniowski (Joseph Conrad’s father) and Cyprian Norwid - both of whom can be linked to the development of European modernism - shared a common approach to literature and the main social questions of their times. To this end I have made an analysis of the translation and metadramatic strategies adopted by both writers, whose approach to the practical problems of translation is modern in every respect. Korzeniowski and Norwid draw attention to the difficulties involved in adapting a writer’s natural style not only to a different linguistic context, but also to the specific translatability limitations imposed by a different literary culture. Both authors cite the symptomatic example of the musicality of Shakespearean verse, which Korzeniowski examines in the case of A Comedy of Errors and Norwid in Julius Caesar. Unlike Korzeniowski, who treats the original text as a literary whole, Norwid strays beyond the bounds of his own theory of translation by adding a philosophical component based on neoplatonism - as well as his own theory of “reading idiolects” - thus assuming the position of a ‘modern fragmentarist’ who makes a creative selection of text to be translated. The metadramatic ideas of Korzeniowski and Norwid found their fullest expression in the former’s Studya nad dramatycznością w utworach Szekspira (An Enquiry into Shakespeare’s Dramatic Art - 1868) and in the latter’s preface to his play entitled Pierścień Wielkiej-Damy (The Great Lady’s Ring - 1872). In their reinterpretations of Shakespearean drama, both writers sought to join in the literary ‘revisionism’ that took place in Europe after 1848 (and in Polish literature only after 1863) in order to lay the foundations of ‘modern comedy’. What they came up with was Norwid’s concept of the tragicomic (or ‘white tragedy’) and Korzeniowski’s concept of ‘flight into the realm of delusion’, both of which relate to the Shakespearean experience of ‘theatre within theatre’: in Norwid’s ‘actor’ and Korzeniowski’s ‘Man being in a state of delusion’ we have two models of a humanity that resorts to internal escapism in reverse, as it were - a Hamlet-like ‘flight into consciousness’. The legacy of the events of the 1863 January Uprising can be seen in the idea - put forward by both authors (albeit from differing standpoints) - of a synthesis of dramatic art and the life of the nation, in order that Society may take a long, hard look at itself.

Objective of the article is to present Chinese concept of cyberdiplomacy which refers to globval trend in foreign affairs to use model of new public diplomacy as modern approach in international relations. The Chinese government, observing a significant increase in the number of network, Internet users and analyzing the bene& ts which has been achieved by Western countries, activated its actions and strategies in the cyber environment in order to promote domestic and foreign policies. Due to the progressive modernization of the country and the desire to alter its international image, the importance of new tools acquired in the field of soft power focusing on the attractiveness of the state in order to achieve its political objectives connected with concept of „China’s peaceful rise”. Their cyberdiplomacy strategy involves the use of the Internet, social media, portals to integrate a wide international audience. However China faces many challenges to create effective cyberdiplomacy and widely used censorship and propaganda are the biggest obstacle in this matter.

The article presents the opinions of enterprises about the relationship between lending banks and their clients. The authors confront these opinions with previously analyzed views and strategies declared by Polish banks. The article is based on a survey conducted on a sample of enterprises via the Internet in December 2005. The survey shows that enterprises are fully aware of the diversified treatment of borrowers by banks, even though banks declare that they treat everyone in the same way. The basic criterion seems to be the size of the company. Although many enterprises use the services of several banks at the same time, contrary to expectations, they tend to be loyal-in the sense of the long-standing nature of their contacts with their servicing banks. Companies generally attach more weight to their own reputation than their servicing banks. They also reveal a smaller (than widely believed) level of informational shortcomings involving providing incomplete data. Relations between banks and borrowers are largely influenced by the fragmentation of the banking sector, which encourages aggressive competition for the best clients and restricts access to loans for high-risk borrowers. It is possible to expect that small and medium-sized enterprises will find it increasingly easier to obtain loans as the banking sector undergoes progressive concentration, accompanied by growing competition from the international bond market.

The main goal of the article is to propose such oxymoronic word combinations that accurately designate the phenomena of paradoxical character which were identified in international empirical research devoted to competency management. The research project was cofounded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union and covered Poland, Spain and Austria. A research reflection that appeared as a consequence of data analysis in the scope of competency management strategies inclined the author to divide the oxymora into paradoxical and nonparadoxical. At the same time the final result of the conducted considerations is an attempt to introduce such nonparadoxical oxymora to management language as hierarchical egalitarianism, flexible formalization, present future, collectivistic individualist, female masculinity, individualistic collectivist, and male femininity.

The main objective of the paper is to shed the limelight on the issue of cultural conditioning of the changes and implementing strategies depending on levels of cultural dimensions such as power distance, individualism and uncertainty avoidance. The necessity to implement the innovations in management coming from the financial crisis, referred to in English literature as the man-made crisis, is the result of the orientation undertaken by companies- mainly for profits- before the crisis began. The purpose of the article is also to determine the cultural factors enabling any company operating in the particular cultural environment to enter the path leading to more socially responsible management.

The purpose of the investigation was to establish the relationship between beliefs about pain control and pain coping strategies and predictors of pain coping strategies. 103 patients with rheumatoid arthritis participated in the study – 59 were women, 43 men. The mean of age was 38.1. Beliefs about Pain Control (BPCQ) prepared by Skevington and Pain Coping Strategies Questionnaire developed by Rosenstiel and Keefe were used in the study. The results indicated on the differentiation in choice of pain coping strategies dependently from beliefs about pain control and revealed predictors for two pain coping strategies. Predictor of diverting attention appeared internal control and predictors of catastrophizing appeared all three kinds of pain control.

To succeed in the marketplace, companies must adopt competitive strategies. Economic, as well as ethical aspects of competitive strategies, are of great importance. A lack of healthy competition leads to difficult problems in economic life, especially in the banking sector. The most irresponsible competitive strategies have the potential to make the highest return. However, risky financial decisions usually resulted in banking crises. They were frequently resolved through bailouts at the taxpayer’s expense and contributed to moral hazard.

The subject of corporate crises is important and in recent years has gained great importance, mainly by the subprime crisis, where the majority of companies in the world felt its effects and had to adapt their operations to the changed market realities. Currently, the corporate crisis topic is not often discussed because as the world economy has improved and gained momentum. Nevertheless, this is an ideal situation for the existence of a crisis as managers attention, in the possibility of a crisis occuring in their company, has decreased. This article presents the issues related to the anti-crisis management, which apply to prevention and further development of crises in companies, as well as methods which can eliminate the crisis once it occurs. Different management styles are being examined in terms of effectiveness and strategic options for recovery. The article adopted the thesis that changes in the market and lack of response to them can cause a corporate crisis. On the basis of the arguments used in the article, it can be concluded that any changes in the market should be analyzed and evaluated. If the analysis indicates any potential hazard then strategies shall be developed and implemented in the company at the appropriate time.

The primary objective of this paper is to pay attention to the need for inclusion of economic human and social capital management of public joint stock companies. Purpose of the article concerns multi- and interdisciplinary problems such as: economic, social and technical issues. In the spectrum of interest there are also elements within psychology, axiology and culture. For the its realization, there was formulated a research hypothesis, stating that the real need of inclusion approach in management of stock limited companies capital produces the need for appropriate and responsible development of not only economic capital but also properly balanced human capital and social capital. It can be said, with great certainty, that this thesis is as attractive and important for every company and every organization. Selection to the considerations listed companies is justified by the specificity of their action, significantly high value of financial capital and social capital of trust. They have an influence on economic growth and social development. Moreover, like no other companies they are exposed to very high business risk. The article consists of two parts. The first part presents the issues concepts and types of capital of companies. The second part is to place the analysis of the nature, sources and functions social capital of company.
