The paper concerns on advantages and disadvantages of survey researches used as tools in the process of evaluation of education quality in contemporary Poland. Education quality is usually surveyed by using questionnaires accessible in electronic internet form as a part of the USOS system. It is implied that survey, as a research method, is an effective means applicable to measure opinions, attitudes and expectations of the students. Moreover, the internet form of survey takes the most of advantages of the traditional forms of research, which makes it an efficient tool in the process of evaluation in the higher education. Benchmarking stanowi metodę poszukiwania najlepszych wzorców i używania ich we własnym działaniu. W procesie doskonalenia zajęć konieczna jest analiza procesu edukacyjnego, pozwalająca na wskazanie obszarów poprawy. Celem badania było poznanie opinii studentów o jakości kształcenia i możliwości doskonalenia zajęć z wykorzystaniem platformy e-learningowej. Na podstawie literatury oraz własnych doświadczeń popartych wynikami badania ankietowego przeprowadzonego wśród studentów, uzasadniono potrzebę usprawniania e-learningu w procesie nauczania na uczelni publicznej.
Benchmarking is a method of finding the best patterns and using them in your own actions. In the process of improving the classes, it is necessary to analyze the educational process and to identify areas of improvement. The aim of the study has been to get acquainted with the students' opinion about the quality of education and the possibility of improving the classes using the e-learning platform. Based on the literature review and the authors’ experience supported by the results of a survey conducted among students, the necessity of improving e-learning in the teaching process at the public university was justified.

This paper discusses the research results and reflection on competences, especially didactic competences of geography teachers and candidates for geography teachers in the aspect of challenges which education faces nowadays. The most important challenges are: the high quality of the process of training, innovation and the necessity to adjust to constantly changing requirements of the job market. The author of this article has for over ten years conducted research on geography teacher-trainees’ development of subject competence and didactic competence. Personal and interpersonal competencies graduates of higher education significantly affect his chances in the labour market. A profile of the graduate should also help potential employers choose competent employees. Author of this paper believes that the acquisition of the appropriate competences by geography students – candidates for teachers constitutes the most important element in professional training of the future teacher including a geography teacher.

Tutoring as a teaching method is associated with the most prestigious European universities. More and more Polish universities decide to implement tutoring recognizing it as a way to create the image of an institution whose objective is to treat students subjectively and care about the quality of education. It is also a great method of improving talents and developing students’ and teachers’ academic potential. On one hand it is a method representing the elite personalized education; however, on the other hand, by means of providing the appropriate organizational conditions, it would also supplement the current educational process, which is typical for the mass education. The article presents the specific nature of the academic tutoring in terms of benefits that it would bring to the university, teachers and students. On the basis of the qualitative data collected during interviews with 15 participating in the program students from four Polish higher educational institutions, the program specificity and elements that, in students’ opinion, influence the program effectiveness were presented. The elements are as follows: relational nature of tutoring, tutor’s personality and classes in the form of individual meetings. Quoted comments indicate the effectiveness of this method, both in the context of students’ ability to be familiarized with the appropriate knowledge but also in the context of developing students’ communicative competence, ability to learn as well as increasing their motivation for learning. For teachers, tutoring is an opportunity to develop their didactic competence, to get rid of the academic routine, a chance to teach on the basis of constructing a good relationship with a student. For the university, tutoring is an opportunity to improve the quality of education and to implement methods of personalized education, which is associated with elite education and the best foreign universities.

The concept of the quality of consumer products and services is fairly well defined. Although today quality of life, including quality of education and training, is a commonly discussed topic, one has to admit that the evaluation system of educational processes and the quality of work of educational institutions is surprisingly low. At the same time, the modernization processes in the system of universities forces basing development decisions , including funding, on achieved indicators of work effects of universities. Existing, domestic and international, external and internal quality assurance systems of university work have been criticized for arbitrariness, unilateralism (eg. the criteria exclusively on the results of teaching, or solely on the results of research), ambiguity of the methodology, unreliability of sources of used data, etc. This means that further inquiry to identify their strengths and weaknesses as well as the directions of their consolidation in the complex policy tool for scientific, educational and social decisions is necessary.

Cel badań. Celem artykułu jest próba wskazania, jak socjologiczno-ekonomiczne czynniki warunkują współczesną edukację akademicką w Polsce. Obecnie wiele szkół wyższych i uniwersytetów masowo kształci społeczeństwo, tracąc przy tym swoją elitarność i prestiż. Na skutek dokonujących się przeobrażeń edukacja stała się „produktem” współczesności. Zmiana postrzegania edukacji zarówno przez młodsze, jak i starsze pokolenia nasuwa pytanie – czy współczesna edukacja to próba przetrwania? Metoda badań. W pracy wykorzystano wyniki badań uzyskane w 2011 i 2017 roku przez Centrum Badania Opinii Społecznej na temat kształcenia wyższego oraz wyniki badań własnych przeprowadzonych w 2018 roku wśród studentów różnych kierunków, na podstawie których przedstawiono obraz szkolnictwa wyższego w Polsce w opinii społecznej. Wyniki. Na gruncie przeprowadzonych rozważań teoretycznych i empirycznych ukazano, jakie są uwarunkowania współczesnej edukacji oraz przedstawiono opinię badanych osób na temat edukacji wyższej. Kształcenie na tym szczeblu stało się masowe, dostępne dla wszystkich, tracąc przy tym dotychczasową elitarność. Wnioski. Przeprowadzona analiza teoretyczna oraz analiza wyników badań własnych, jak i wtórnych jednoznacznie pokazuje, że współczesna edukacja boryka się z wieloma problemami, które pogarszają jakość i wizerunek nauczania na szczeblu wyższym.
Purpose of research. The aim of the article is an attempt to indicate how socio-economic factors condition modern academic education in Poland. Currently, many universities and higher education institutes engaged in mass social education are losing their elite status and prestige. As a result of socio-economic transformations education is now become a contemporary ‘product’. Changing the perception of education by both younger and older generations raises the question – is contemporary education an attempt to survive? Test method. The study uses the results of research obtained in 2011 and 2017 by the Center for Public Opinion Research on higher education, and the results of the author’s own research carried out in 2018 among students of various courses, on the basis of which an image of higher education in Poland according to public opinion is presented. Results. On the basis of the theoretical and empirical analysis, the conditions of contemporary education and the opinion of those surveyed about education are presented. Education has become a mass product, accessible to all, losing its prestige and elitie status. Conclusion. The theoretical analysis and analysis of the results of both the author’s own and secondary research clearly show that contemporary education is struggling with many problems which are worsening the quality and image of teaching at a higher level.

In 2003 Madagascar joined the UNESCO “Education for All” programme. The primary objective of the programme is to improve accessibility to and the quality of the education system. Although there has been progress in achieving universal primary education, this progress has not been accompanied by the necessary safeguards for ensuring quality of education. According to the UNESCO report “Éducation pour tous. Madagascar 2015" only 79% the Malagasy children who started school went on to complete their primary education. The PASEC (Program on the Analysis of Education Systems) report also shows the low quality of education – children repeating school years together with low educational outcomes in Mathematics and French. This poor quality of education is undoubtedly in violation of the rights of children to their individual development. This article attempts to answer the question about the causes of the low quality of education in Madagascar. According to the author it’s important to note that apart from poverty and child labour the low professional qualifications of teachers is also a contributory factor.

The characteristic feature of the beginning of the XXI century is the development of modern teaching forms with the use of the internet. The development of network technologies and globalization processes favoring the growth of distance learning significance are the reasons for such a phenomenon. The distance learning various models are being constantly discussed tested and implemented. It concerns the use of the Internet as the additional source of information and entirely remote learning process, including the activities monitoring, assessment of learning outcomes and creation of learning communities.

Nowadays it is increasingly difficult to find a teacher who is only qualified to teach one subject. Teachers are faced with very high demands, which are often difficult to meet. This has contributed greatly to the state of affairs of the civilization revolution, the huge increase in information and the unprecedented pace of change that has strengthened the value of education in the labor market and has made its quality one of the priorities of modern education. More and more often we are dealing with multi-faceted teachers, which means that one teacher has the competence to teach two or more subjects. Often these extra items are quite distant from this basic.This situation is largely dictated by economic considerations. The school prefers to have fewer omni-directional teachers who do the work of a dozen or so people, which greatly reduces the cost of employment. It is also beneficial from the perspective of the teachers themselves, who find it increasingly difficult to keep up in school. Acquiring qualifications in areas that do not coincide in any way is currently a common phenomenon in the Polish education system.The aim of the research was to get acquainted with the opinions of teachers from the Ostrowiec district on the quality of supplementary education. The research was conducted among teachers of primary and lower secondary schools in the Ostrowiec district. The diagnostic survey method was applied, which used the polling technique.
W dzisiejszych czasach coraz trudniej znaleźć nauczyciela, który posiada kwalifikacje do nauczania tylko jednego przedmiotu. Wobec nauczycieli stawiane są bardzo wysokie wymagania, które niejednokrotnie okazują się trudne do spełnienia. W dużym stopniu przyczyniła się do tego stanu rzeczy rewolucja cywilizacyjna, ogromny przyrost informacji i niespotykane dotąd tempo przemian, które wzmocniły wartość wykształcenia na rynku pracy i sprawiły, że jego jakość stała się jednym z priorytetów współczesnej edukacji. Coraz częściej mamy do czynienia z wieloprzedmiotowością nauczycieli, która oznacza, że jeden nauczyciel posiada kompetencje do nauczania dwóch lub kilku przedmiotów. Często dodatkowe przedmioty są dość odległe od tego podstawowego.Sytuacja taka w dużym stopniu podyktowana jest niestety względami ekonomicznymi. Szkoła preferuje posiadanie mniejszej liczby nauczycieli wielokierunkowych, którzy wykonują pracę kilkunastu osób, co w ogromnym stopniu zmniejsza koszty zatrudnienia. Jest to również korzystne z perspektywy samych nauczycieli, którym coraz trudniej utrzymać etat w szkołach. Zdobywanie kwalifikacji w dziedzinach, które się ze sobą nie pokrywają, jest obecnie w polskim systemie oświaty zjawiskiem powszechnym.Celem przeprowadzonych badań było poznanie opinii nauczycieli z powiatu ostrowieckiego na temat jakości dokształcania z przedmiotów dodatkowych. Badania przeprowadzono wśród nauczycieli szkół podstawowych i gimnazjalnych powiatu ostrowieckiego. Zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego, w ramach której wykorzystano technikę ankietowania.

Having the ability of the efficient getting around the labour market is now necessary for everyone who enters the adults life and intends to start professional work. Finding a job these times, requires the skills of coping with the constantly changing conditions. Some jobs have been disappearing, while others are appearing. Therefore, the need for the constant improvement of qualifications and lifelong learning, must be often satisfied by almost all participants in the labour market. Finding the first job usually causes a lot of problems, thus it is important to have the appropriate support system, which can be provided by schools. Its mission is to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills needed in order to select the proper fields of education, or profession and appropriate incorporate their aspirations into the expectations of the employer. The school can achieve such tasks by a number of its own initiatives, namely, the career counseling, and/or special subject-matter projects. The school plays a very important role in preparing young people for the entry into the adults life. However, a person who wants to remain active in the labour market should be flexible and adapt himself/herself to constantly changing conditions. He/she will be still professionally active, if he/she keeps fulfilling such conditions.

In recent years, the situation of people with disabilities in Poland has been attracting ever-growing public attention. Changes in higher education influence university candidates and students with disabilities as well. While necessary infrastructure is operational and functioning, there is still much to be done by the academics and the administration. However, we notice gradually increasing awareness that disability does not have to be a restriction, and it should not definitely be an obstacle to students who want to study. Universities strive to ensure all students have equal opportunities for education and their possibility of participating fully in the life of the academic community, due to a disability, is not anyhow limited or diminished.
Od kilku lat w Polsce zainteresowanie sytuacją osób niepełnosprawnych rośnie. Zmiany w szkolnictwie wyższym obejmują także kandydatów na studentów i studentów z niepełnosprawnością. O ile infrastruktura działa coraz lepiej, o tyle zarówno nauczyciele akademiccy, jak i administracja mają jeszcze wiele do zrobienia. Stopniowo zwiększa się jednak świadomość, że niepełnosprawność nie musi być ograniczeniem, także w dostępie do nauki na uczelni wyższej. Uniwersytety dążą do tego, aby studenci mieli jednakowe szanse na kształcenie i nie doświadczali ograniczeń w uczestniczeniu w życiu społeczności akademickiej np. z powodu niepełnosprawności.
