    The main thesis of the article assumes, that honesty and effectivenes or eficacy are complementary values of political action. This claim is still valid especially in conemporary normative political theory. Meanwhile, the results of empirical research shows, that voters perceive voters both of these features, as the contradictions of political action. The author analyzes the key reasons of this contradiction and indicates the conditions of its limitations.

    Research report „Political Behavior of the People of Toruń” is a part of a research project „People of Toruń on Politics”. The aim of the project was to learn about opinions, interest in politics and political activity, including electoral behavior of people who live in Toruń. The sample was composed of 350 people who filled in questionnaires. The results show that young people (up to 24) are less interested in politics then the older cohorts, that the main source of political knowledge are: TV and the Internet, and that the people who live in Toruń are not very engaged in political activities except voting. Not many of them are members of political parties or other political organizations; they rarely take part in political manifestations or marches. Analysis of electoral behavior of the sample suggests that the Civic Platform is loosing its popularity and the new parties, which emerged during the last electoral campaign, are popular mostly among the youngest.

    This short article is connected with the issue of political image and how it impact on the elections result. It is obvious that nowadays when the ability of autopresentation very often decides about the future career and position the world of policy use it. In this article authors tried to analyze Polish politics and matched them to the canons of political images. This analysis was done by the vote's materials which was used by the last Polish presidential campaign in June 2010.

    Nauki humanistyczne i społeczne, w szczególności politologia, rozwijają się w oderwaniu od szybko przyrastającej w ostatnich latach wiedzy o człowieku jako istocie biologicznej, której dostarcza biologia ewolucyjna, neuronauka czy psychologia ewolucyjna. Tymczasem zastosowanie perspektywy naturalistycznej pozwala wyjaśnić pochodzenie i funkcję zachowań i instytucji politycznych jako ewolucyjnych adaptacji zwiększających przystosowanie (wyjaśnienie ultymatywne, ewolucyjne) oraz ich fizjologiczne, osobnicze uwarunkowania (wyjaśnienia bezpośrednie, biobehawioralne). Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, że wiele spośród najważniejszych instytucji społecznych, w tym politycznych, powstało jako rozwiązanie fundamentalnego problemu kooperacji wewnątrzgrupowej, a także zakreślenie pola badawczego biopolitologii jako nauki o polityce uwzględniającej biologiczne uwarunkowania zachowań politycznych homo sapiens.
    The humanities and social sciences, including political science, have largely ignored the expanding knowledge of a man as a biological being offered by evolutionary biology, neuroscience or evolutionary psychology, whereas applying this knowledge could help explain the origin and function of political behavior and institutions (ultimate, evolutionary explanation), as well as their physiological, individual underpinnings (proximate, biobehavioral explanation). The paper aims to demonstrate that some of the most important social and political institutions have developed in response to the fundamental problem of within-group cooperation; and to demarcate the research area for biopolitical science as a biologically informed study of politics.

    Recently, researchers have shown an increased interest in examining the impact of individual characteristics of voters (personality traits, attitudes and personal values) on a political choice. The aim of this paper is to examine the relationships between voters› basic values, their political orientation and voting behavior in Polish national election in 2011. Personal values were treated as a cognitive representations of desirable, abstract goals. According to Schwartz's theory, there are 10 basic, universal values (power, achievement, hedonism, stimulation, selfdirection, universalism, benevolence, tradition, conformity, and security), organized into four higher-level types (conservation, openness to change, self-transcendence and self-enhancement). To assess the participants› basic values, the Schwartz's Portrait Value Questionnaire was used. Comparisons between the groups of voters were made using the ANOVA method and the Tukey's post-hoc tests. The results of the study indicate that right-wing voters scored higher in tradition, conformity and benevolence and lower in self-direction, achievement, stimulation and hedonism than left-wing and centre voters. Voters' political party preferences were associated with distinct value profiles. According to the results of the research, voters' personal values can be important for understanding and predicting voting behavior.

    Opis:
    The present article presents results of research conducted with the working assumption that voters perceive political parties in terms of traits characteristics for people, giving them a unique identity. Research was focused on defining the “personality” of a perfect political party; voters were asked about desired intensity of certain characteristics in such imagined perfect political entity. The taxonomy of traits presented to the respondents used the HEXACO model, by Kibeom Lee and Michael C. Aschton, which refers to a six-dimensional personality structure. The authors distinguished the following personality factors in the model: Honesty, Emotionality, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness and Openness to Experience.

    Civil political competency, but especially public trust are the basis of development of the civil society. Level of civil political competency also influence the electoral behaviour. In a research made in the end of 2014 we asked about Polish people civil political competency and about chosen reasons when taking electoral decisions. The group who declares an absence in the election or not taking big care about their electoral decisions and also have lack of skills to determine on which place on the left-right line they are, give evidence of a very low level of civil political competencies. Less important for them are programs and future plans presented by the politicians and political parties and also how they realize them (or not). When taking an electoral decision on the local level, this group take a lesser degree of care then other voters about the local elections candidates (for mayors, council member etc.) memberships to the political parties.

    This text is devoted to the problem of the concept of mass in the social sciences. The departure point is a proposed division — on the basis of past works — into practical mass (the quantitative aspect of collective behaviors) and abstract mass, which is an ideological construct. Mass in the second meaning has five properties: meaning, durability, intangibility, subjectivity, and mystique. The political history of abstract mass is described, beginning from the moment of its appearance in contrast to the ruling elite and ending with the pop culture aspect. Theoreticians on the subject are referenced, in particular, Peter Sloterdijk. Then the author concentrates on how mass functions in contemporary political systems and societies (which are born of mass). He considers mass behavior, that is, those behaviors in which the participants have the consciousness of the meaning and strength of the abstract mass. He proposes a division of mass behaviors into proliferating, functional, and phantom actions. He asks whether mass today, in order to obtain a political voice, must still have a real quantitative force, or whether even the actions of an individual could acquire a mass character.

    Opis:
    W opracowaniu przedstawiono aktualny stan analiz dogmatycznych w odniesieniu do zagadnienia tzw. subiektywnych komponentów: czynu, bezprawności oraz okoliczności wyłączających bezprawność. W pierwszej kolejności przedstawiono rekonstrukcyjne uwagi dotyczące obecnego stanu badań nad problematyką komponentów subiektywnych w strukturze czynu, bezprawności oraz okoliczności wyłączających bezprawność. Na bazie zarysowanej dychotomii prezentowanych w polskiej teorii prawa karnego ujęć – obiektywnego oraz subiektywnego – zarysowano część płaszczyzn, na których dokonywać należy analizy oraz weryfikacji koncepcji odnoszących się do funkcji i znaczenia komponentów subiektywnych w ramach karnoprawnych ujęć: czynu, bezprawności oraz okoliczności wyłączających bezprawność. Odwołując się do płaszczyzny teoretycznej, normatywnej, dogmatycznej oraz strukturalnej, przedstawiono wady i zalety konkurencyjnych koncepcji. W podsumowaniu zamieszczono propozycję zobiektywizowanego ujęcia świadomości, jako jednej z właściwości opisywanego w ustawie zachowania, stanowiącego możliwy kierunek rozwiązania paradoksów łączących się immanentnie z prezentowanymi dotychczas w polskim piśmiennictwie konkurencyjnymi ujęciami analizowanego zagadnienia.
    The paper presents the current state of dogmatic analysis in relation to the issue of the so-called subjective components: act, unlawfulness and circumstances excluding unlawfulness. First of all reconstructive remarks concerning the current state of research on the subject matter of subjective components in the structure of the act, unlawfulness and circumstances excluding unlawfulness were presented. On the basis of the outlined dichotomy of the conceptual and objective perspectives presented in the Polish criminal law theory, some areas have been outlined for analysis and verification of concepts relating to the function and meaning of subjective components within the framework of criminal legal actions, unlawfulness and circumstances excluding unlawfulness. Referring to the theoretical, normative, dogmatic and structural levels, the advantages and disadvantages of competing concepts are presented. The summary contains an offer of objectivized recognition of consciousness as one of the properties described in the Behavior Act, constituting a possible direction of solving the paradoxes immanently combining with the previously presented in the Polish literature competing perspectives of the analyzed issue.
