    The article analyses the sources of phraseological units occurring in the media and in journalistic texts of contemporary Polish language. The first part of the article contains a few remarks on two types of new noun phrases, e.g. Europa dwu prędkości (two-/multi-speed Europe), mowa nienawiści (hate speech), dane wrażliwe (sensitive data). The second part indicates the main problems related to the linguistic description of phraseology in journalism: the phraseologism – term relation and the difficulties in identifying the sources of phraseological units (the type of loanword).

    In the contemporary linguistic research, the colour system occupies a special position. Today’s culture space is supersaturated with colours, which are important semiotic components of human functioning and their relationships with other people. This paper attempts to describe colour semiotics from the point of view of the human development period. The author tries to determine whether colours can also determine the age frame of a person. First, the relationship between colours and time is analysed. The suggested description of the stages of life through the colour spectrum allows answering the question of how the respective stages of human life are determined by the colours assigned to them by the culture.

    This article describes the usage and occurrence of metaphorical phraseologisms and their functions in non-scientific medical articles. According to Harald Weinrich’s theory [1976] and cognitive theory of metaphors by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson [1980], metaphorical phraseologisms, as well as single metaphors can be associated with subordinate concepts. Due to high complicity of metaphors described in this article they appear in the form of constellations and have been arranged according to such concepts as: MEDICINE IS A GAME, ILLNESS IS AN ENEMY AND THERAPY IS A STRUGGLE and also SICKNESS AND LEADING TO SICKNESS IS A CRIME.

    This article focuses on the issue of drug nominations above the word level. It assumed that every jargon expression composed of two or more elements is a phraseologism. The analysis encompasses 274 phraseological expressions excerpted from the most recent lexicogra- phic sources. Among the analyzed drug nominations there were observed all kinds of expressions divided according to semantic as well as formal criteria. Moreover, phraseological phonetic, mor- phological-grammatical, word-formation and lexical variants were distinguished.

    Celem artykułu jest wstępna charakterystyka frazeologii operacyjnej, której kształt wyłania się z gramatyki operacyjnej Andrzeja Bogusławskiego. Rozważania w pierwszym podrozdziale szkicu – osadzone na gruncie amerykańskiej filozofii neopragmatystycznej – dotyczą statusu ontologicznego idiomów. Dwie następne partie tekstu są poświęcone, kolejno, terminom: schemat syntaktyczny oraz frazeologizm aktualny. Drugie ze wskazanych wyrażeń oznacza realizację tekstową związku frazeologicznego, tzn. elementu sfery langue. W ostatniej części artykułu autor określa (z proporcjonalistycznego punktu widzenia) właściwy przedmiot badań omawianego paradygmatu frazeologii teoretycznej – jest to byt językowy (frazeologizm, dokładniej: matryca frazeotwórcza) objawiający nieregularność już na poziomie schematu syntaktycznego i/lub na płaszczyźnie suprasegmentalnej.
    The aim of this article is to provide a preliminary characterisation of operational phraseology, the shape of which emerges from Andrzej Bogusławski’s operational grammar. The reflections in the first subsection of the article, based on the American neopragmatist philosophy, concern the ontological status of idioms. The next two parts of the text are devoted to the terms: sentence pattern and present phraseologism. The second of these terms denotes the textual realisation of a phraseological compound, i.e. an element of the langue sphere. In the last part of the article, the author defines (from a proportionalist point of view) the proper research object of the discussed paradigm of theoretical phraseology – it is a linguistic entity (phraseologism, more precisely: phraseologism-generating matrix) manifesting irregularity on the sentence pattern level and/or on the suprasegmental level.

    Autor artykułu, na podstawie dostępnych danych leksykalnych (ze słowników języka polskiego oraz Słownika gwar polskich PAN i jego kartoteki), weryfikuje status wyrazów (i kilku frazeologizmów) uznawanych za regionalizmy białostockie (łącznie 83 jednostki). Przedstawiono je w artykule Piotra Wróblewskiego Regionalizmy w języku inteligencji białostockiej (1981), stanowiącym swoisty raport z wieloletnich obserwacji bezpośrednich badacza. Autor niniejszego artykułu zadaje następujące pytania: Czy te leksemy występują (występowały) poza badanym obszarem i w jakiej odmianie języka? Okazuje się, że tylko nieliczne (w sumie 12) można bez większych wątpliwości uznać za regionalizmy, np.: dętka ‘rodzaj ozdoby na choinkę, bombka’, pacan ‘człowiek niskiego wzrostu’, sokotać ‘gderać’. Z drugiej strony – niektóre wyrazy (w sumie 14) zalicza się do tej grupy intuicyjnie. Znaczna część leksemów poddanych analizie jest w języku znana – z innych odmian, czasów, stylów czy terenów występowania. Przeprowadzona weryfikacja po raz kolejny potwierdziła tezę o niewielkim zróżnicowaniu regionalnym polszczyzny w zakresie leksyki. Taki stan rzeczy utrudnia identyfikację regionalizmów. Ukazuje jednak polszczyznę jako język względnie jednolity, nieprzysparzający większych kłopotów w komunikacji między mieszkańcami poszczególnych regionów Polski. Ta sytuacja zasługuje na podkreślenie, zwłaszcza na tle (nieraz znacznych) różnic regionalnych w języku obecnych w wielu krajach. Ponadto autor dołącza do badaczy, którzy wskazują na dużą potrzebę precyzowania terminu regionalizm w odniesieniu do języka polskiego. Do artykułu dodano obszerny aneks zawierający dane o analizowanych wyrazach i frazeologizmach pozyskane z uwzględnionych źródeł leksykograficznych.
    The author of the article, using the available lexical data (from dictionaries of the Polish language and Dictionary of the Polish local dialects and its card index), verifies the status of words (and several phraseologisms) considered as regionalisms in Białystok and the surrounding area (a total of 83 units). These regionalisms were presented in the article by Piotr Wróblewski Regionalizmy w języku inteligencji białostockiej (1981). This article is a kind of report from many years of direct observations of the researcher. The author of this article asks the following questions: Do these lexemes occur (did they occur) outside the studied area and in what variation of the language? It turns out that only a few (12 in total) can be considered, without any doubts, as regionalisms, e.g.: dętka ‘Christmas ball’, pacan ‘man of short stature’, sokotać ‘grumble’. On the other hand, some lexemes (14 in total) intuitively fall into this group. A significant part of the analyzed words is known in the language – from other varieties, times, styles or areas of occurrence.The verification once again confirmed the thesis about the slight regional differentiation of the Polish language in the field of lexis. This state of affairs makes it difficult to identify regionalisms. However, it shows Polish as a relatively uniform language, which does not cause any major communication problems between the inhabitants of particular regions of Poland. This situation deserves to be emphasized, especially against the background of sometimes significant regional differences in the language in many countries. In addition, the author joins the researchers who point to the great need to specify the term regionalism in relation to the Polish language. An extensive annex is added to the article, containing data on the analyzed words and phraseologisms obtained from the lexicographic sources included.
