Od blisko trzydziestu lat Al Gore jest aktywnym działaczem ruchów społecznych na rzecz obrony środowiska naturalnego. Ostatnie jego wypowiedzi mają charakter katastroficzny, bowiem głosi, że jeśli nie powstrzymamy wzrostu emisji dwutlenku węgla już za 10 lat grozi nam być może zagłada całego ziemskiego ekosystemu. Rozgłos tej wypowiedzi na całym świecie świadczy o tym, że problemy dotyczące ochrony środowiska odgrywają coraz istotniejsza rolę w polityce. Świadectwem tego jest także przyznanie 12 października 2007 roku Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla Al Gore'owi wspólnie z Międzyrządowym Panelem do spraw Zmian Klimatu ONZ. Al. Gore jest także współlaureatem z 2007 r. Oskara, nagrody Amerykańskiej Akademii Filmowej za swój film "Niewygodna prawda" (Inconvenient Truth). Zdobycie w jednym roku dwóch prestiżowych nagród: Oskara oraz Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla w uznaniu zasług za przeciwdziałanie globalnemu ociepleniu, nie jest przypadkowe. Poczesne miejsce wśród publikacji Gore'a zajmuje książka "Ziemia na Krawędzi - Człowiek i Ekologia". Gore w swej książce zaproponował nowy "Globalny Plan Marshalla", którego realizacja miałaby doprowadzić do osiągnięcia pożądanego i zrównoważonego rozwoju na poziomie globalnym.
From nearly thirty years Al Gore has been an aetivist of social movements for natural environment protection. His latest speeches has a catastrophic character because he claims that if people will not stop increasing of emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, in ten years terrestrial ecologic system could be destroyed. The publicity of this statement in all over the world speaks volumes for that problems concerning environmental protection play morę and morę important role in politics. The testimony to that was Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Gore on October 12th in 2007, which was shared by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In 2007 Al Gore also starred in the Aeademy Award - winning documentary on the topie of global warming, An Inconvenient Truth. Winning two of prestige awards during one year: Oscar and Nobel Peace Prize was not an accident but approbation of his merits in counteraction against global warming problem. A prominent place in Al Gore's publications oceupies the book Earth in the Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit. In his book Gore proposes the new Global Marshall Plan. The realisation of this plan could lead to desirable and balanced development on global level.

The paper discusses the reception of Olga Tokarczuk’s works after the author received the Nobel Prize in Literature. It addresses the issue of politicisation of literature – the Nobel Prize winner’s novels are read through the angle of her left-wing views, with less importance attributed to the quality of the works as such. The paper answers the question as to what the Nobel Prize winner enchanted the Swedish Academy with, explains how Tokarczuk structures her novels and what makes them stand out (the psychological approach), and also discusses the author’s view on the role of literature in today’s world.

Opis:
The hoard of coins from Smolnik (formerly Alteiche, Kreis Rosenberg) was discovered in the early 1930s. A forestry worker came across the 19 well-preserved gold coins in the sandy soils of the forest. The hoard consisted of a total of 15 nobles and 3 half-nobles of the English King Edward III (1327–1377) and one franc á cheval of the French King John II ‘the Good’ (1350–1364). Based on the work of Prof. Grollmus of Iława, the author aims to carry out an analysis of the structure of the hoard. It is also very important to interpret the phenomenon of the inflow of gold coins to Prussia. The second half of the XIV century until the start of the 15th century was a period of increased trade relations between the Order and England. In addition, there is an increase in crusading, which includes the Teutonic Order’s campaigns into Lithuania. Guests of the Order participated in these, including English crusaders.

The Bulgarian initiatives related to Tokarczuk’s Nobel Year are presented, including the publication of the wonderful book The Lost Soul, the second edition of the novel Flights and a series of publications in the press.

The paper discusses selected reactions to the Nobel Prize for Literature awarded to Olga Tokarczuk. The author focuses on the dispute about the legitimacy and justification of the Swedish Academy’s decision, highlighting the sceptical opinions, in some cases challenging the Academy’s members’ verdict. Referring to a book by James F. English on cultural prizes, the author recalls the role of public controversies as an essential tool of influencing the general public. He also compares the situation of two winners of the Nobel Prize in Literature (Olga Tokarczuk – for 2018, Peter Handke – for 2019), announced on the same day. Concluding, the author seeks to present the most important aspects of the dispute on the position and influence of Tokarczuk’s literary output.

The article is a response to the proposal to create a space for discourse on the dramatic dimensions of contemporary humanities. Dramaturgy, creativity and transgression are notions in the master discourse of three women Nobel Prize winners. The basis for the text is the issues contained in the speeches given by these Nobel Prize-winning authors. The intersubjective discourse around humanistic concerns about the changes in the present regards the limits of creation, the process of creative transgressions in designing the world and the potential in the space of sense-creating experiences. It shows a vision of a human who “thinks through creativity, sees the world differently”. Transgressive activity allows us to transform reality, and going beyond the boundaries is like successive acts of creating, or at least the creation of the world.

W artykule przedstawiono zakres zagadnień ekologicznych i ekonomicznych obejmowanych przez Goldman Environmental Prize, jej genezę i sposób przyznawania. Autorka nazwiska zestawiła wszystkich dotychczasowych laureatów oraz rodzaje wyróżnionej działalności. Dokonała również analizy znaczenia nagrody dla współczesnych ekologów. Nagroda Goldmana należy do najbardziej cenionych nagród ekologicznych na całym świecie i zyskała miano „Zielonego Nobla”. Podobnie jak w przypadku Nagrody Nobla, docenia się wkład laureatów Nagrody Goldmana w ochronę środowiska przyrodniczego w różnych regionach kuli ziemskiej oraz we wdrażanie zasad rozwoju zrównoważonego i trwałego. Praktyczna strona oceny dorobku potencjalnych laureatów Goldman Environmental Prize jest dominująca i uwzględniana w procedurze jej przyznawania. Podział świata na sześć regionów, dla których określa się osoby wyróżnione, ma akcentować jedność środowiska przyrodniczego naszej planety w duchu koncepcji Matki Gai czy bouldingowskiego statku kosmicznego Ziemia.

It seems that some of the facts of the rich and interesting but also very instructive bio graphy of Amarty Kumar Sen, a modern economist of Indian origin, allow to understand better not only his selection of issues from a wide range of the latest economic problems, which differs from many other economists and to which he has devoted his research works, but also to understand a system of values adopted by him. Het article is therefore an attempt to reach the source of thinking of one of the most interesting contemporary economists. Th e author tries to show the deep roots of his economic and social thoughts, mainly derived from the Hindu philosophy but fi ltered through the Western way of thinking, with many interesting references to the European philosophy. The author also attempts to outline a surprisingly rich area of his interests and to draw attention to a social rank of problems undertaken by him.

Tematem artykułu jest sytuacja literatury tworzonej w Hiszpanii w języku mniejszościowym, katalońskim, i ocena szans, jakie literatura w tym języku miała na pokonanie stereotypu literatury peryferyjnej, a także recepcja tej literatury przedstawiona z perspektywy synchronicznej, współczesnej Àngelowi Guimerze, w Katalonii, w Hiszpanii i za granicą, a następnie w perspektywie diachronicznej – przełomu XX i XXI wieku. Pretekstem do poruszenia tego tematu stało się wielokrotne podejmowanie przez rodaków katalońskiego dramaturga Àngela Guimery prób (ostatecznie nieudanych) zarekomendowania go do Literackiej Nagrody Nobla. 
This article is concerned with literature created in Spain in the minority language of Catalan, examining the question of whether this literature could ever overcome its stereotypical reputation as peripheral. The article is also concerned with the reception of this literature, both from synchronic perspective – contemporaneous with Catalan playwright Àngel Guimerà, in Catalonia, Spain and abroad – and the diachronic perspective of the turn of the 20th century. The impetus to address this topic has come from renewed and ultimately unsuccessful attempts by Àngel Guimerà’s compatriots to nominate him for the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The International Year of Chemistry (2011), intertwined with commemoration of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded in 1911 to Marie Skłodowska-Curie, made me to ask about the philosophical background of this outstanding woman. The first factor which I could see was the positivism, launched by August Comte in France and developed a few decades later by his Polish followers. Another factor which seemed to me important was the interplay between the emotional (romantic) and intellectual (positivistic) attitudes among the Poles in the 19th century. In her research, Marie Skłodowska-Curie used the positivistic, rationalistic method. This has led her (jointly with her husband Pierre Curie) to elucidation of the radiation phenomena discovered by Henri Becquerel in 1896. The research initiated by the Curies (rewarded by the half of the Nobel Prize in Physics 1903) caused a subversion of the 19th century’s views on the structure of Matter. The way to such spectacular results must have been paved not only by the positivistic intellectual discipline but also by a dose of romantic enchantment. In the applicative terms, Marie Skłodowska-Curie became a pioneer of the evidence-based medicine. In moral terms, she represented a rare example of the practical altruism, inspired indirectly by Christianity, and directly by the Comte’s “religion of Humanity”.
