    Artykuł porusza kwestię testowania i certyfikacji znajomości języka polskiego u uczniów dwu- i wielojęzycznych. Autorki przedstawiają polskie i zagraniczne rozwiązania systemowe, charakteryzując zróżnicowane podejścia do koncepcji poświadczania znajomości polszczyzny zarówno w Polsce, jak i w Niemczech, Irlandii oraz w Stanach Zjednoczonych Ameryki Północnej. Szczegółowo zostały omówione: niemiecka matura z języka polskiego (Abiturprüfung Polnisch) oraz tamtejszy certyfikat TELC, irlandzki Leaving Certificate Polish oraz amerykańska Seal of Biliteracy i egzamin LOTE Polish. Autorki tekstu zwracają przy tym uwagę na nowość, jaką w Polsce stanowią egzaminy certyfikatowe z JPJO w tzw. grupie dostosowanej do potrzeb dzieci i młodzieży i prezentują wyniki sondażu opinii na ten temat wśród zdających w wieku 14–17 lat, uwypuklając znaczenie i rolę tych egzaminów z perspektywy młodzieży. W podsumowaniu dyskutowana jest kwestia konkurencyjności polskich egzaminów certyfikatowych DiM wobec tego typu oferty zagranicznej.  
    The article deals with the issue of testing Polish as a foreign language of bilingual and multilingual young learners. Authors of the article present different educational solutions to testing and certifying foreign language skills in Poland, Ireland, Germany and in the United States of America. Different language tests are discussed, especially German school-leaving exams in Polish (Abiturprüfung Polnisch) as well as German telc exam in Polish or Irish Leaving Certificate exam in Polish, American Seal of Biliteracy and Languages Other Than English exams (LOTE). The article includes results of the survey conducted among the young learners who decided to take the Polish certificate exam at B1 level in Poland in 2017. The participants of the research confirmed the meaningful role of the certificate exams in Polish as a foreign language. At the end of the article the specific character of the Polish language exams abroad is also discussed in comparison with the Polish language test available for the young learners at the age of 14–17.

    Opis:
    The aim of this paper is to present the efforts intended to develop the Polish Sign Language sentence reproduction test (PJM-SRT). There are no standardised PJM profi ciency tests available yet, which makes it diffi cult to evaluate language skills of learners of this language. The analysis presented in this paper covers the data obtained from 5 hearing persons who learnt to sign for 2–5 years reaching at least the B2 level. 10 example sentences from PJM-SRT were discussed and a qualitative analysis of their reproduction was performed. What follows from this review is that the sentences included in the test fulfi l their role well: they show which elements of the lexical and grammatical system of the PJM are the most challenging for the tested persons.

    Opis:
    Certification of the command of Polish as a foreign language is a phenomenon with an international reach and groundbreaking significance for the promotion and enhancement of the prestige of the Polish language across the world. The certifi cation system for the Polish language was created in 2004 and, in the face of new challenges, reformed in 2015. At present, it is the primary instrument of the migration policy of Poland, which gives rise to diffi culties in its functioning. This paper is an attempt at a comprehensive description of the phenomenon of state certification examinations. It discusses the scientifi c and legal grounds for the examinations, amendments introduced over years to the legislation regulating certification and their consequences, as well as describes and diagnoses the existing situation concerned with certification of the command of Polish.

    The amendment to the Polish Language Act in 2015 has resulted in significant changes in the system of the state certificate examinations in Polish as a foreign language. One of the changes is a revised format of the certificate examination at C2 level. The author begins by briefly presenting the recent revisions to the test. The Polish examination is then compared with its English equivalent: C2 Proficiency, a renowned British test which has undergone numerous changes since its first ad-ministration in 1913. The comparative analysis is focused on the struc-ture of both examinations and their parts, task types that are used and skills that are tested. Through showing similarities and differences between the analyzed language proficiency tests the author reflects on practical implications of various choices made by experts who are responsible for test design and development.

    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie znaczenia, jakie mają kategoria użyteczności i jej testowanie dla oprogramowania służącego do nauki języków klasycznych, a także wskazanie możliwych defektów, które mogą się pojawiać, i ich źródeł. Jako przykład posłużyła aplikacja mobilna Speak Latin: Learn Latin Language Offline. Testy użyteczności przeprowadzono na aplikacji w wersji 1.0.18, w brytyjskiej wersji językowej, na urządzeniu Huawei Mate 10 Lite z systemem Android w wersji 8.1.0. Oprogramowanie testowano pod kątem efektywności i satysfakcji z użytkowania. Zaobserwowano pojawianie się istotnych defektów w kluczowych obszarach aplikacji. Usterki dotyczą przede wszystkim: 1. nieprawidłowej wymowy wyrazów; 2. braku deklarowanego rozróżniania zapisu i wymowy; 3. schematu odtwarzania nagrań istotnie utrudniającego naukę; 4. niepoprawnych i niejednolitych tłumaczeń lub ich braku; 5. nieczytelnych kategorii, w których występują dane słowa. Zauważono, że istotna część defektów wynika z zastosowania syntezatora i translatora mimo słabego rozwinięcia tych technologii w kontekście języków klasycznych. Aplikacja prawdopodobnie nie przeszła też testów użyteczności. Kontrola ze strony człowieka i weryfikacja jakości tego rodzaju oprogramowania okazują się niezbędne. Bez nich nie może ono spełniać wymagań przeciętnych odbiorców, które dotyczą efektywności i satysfakcji z użytkowania, nie jest też w stanie przynosić istotnych korzyści edukacyjnych.
    The aim of this article is to present the importance of the usability category and its testing for software designed for learning classical languages, as well as to point out possible defects that may appear and their sources. The mobile application Speak Latin: Learn Latin Language Offline was used as an example. Usability testing was carried out on the app version 1.0.18, in the British English language version, on a Huawei Mate 10 Lite device with the Android system in version 8.1.0. The software was tested in terms of effectiveness and satisfaction of use. Significant defects have been observed in key areas of the application. The defects relate primarily to: 1. incorrect pronunciation of words; 2. lack of claimed differentiation between notation and pronunciation; 3. the playback pattern of recordings significantly impeding learning; 4. incorrect and inconsistent translations or lack thereof; 5. illegible categories in which words occur. It was noted that a significant proportion of the defects are due to the use of synthesizer and translator despite the poor development of these technologies in the context of classical languages. The application probably did not pass usability testing either. Human control and quality verification of this kind of software prove essential. Without them, it cannot meet the average user's requirements regarding the effectiveness and satisfaction of use, nor is it able to deliver significant educational benefits.

    W artykule opisano język do automatycznego zarządzania instrumentacją kodu źródłowego podczas testowania integracyjnego systemów wbudowanych, zwany językiem LML. Opisano składnię tego języka oraz elementy, z których się składa. W artykule zostały także zawarte opis i zastosowanie plików koniecznych do działania tego języka. Omówiono przykładową implementację procesora języka LML oraz przeprowadzono analizę przydatności języka LML.
    The paper describes the language for automated management of source code instrumentation during integration testing of embedded systems. It is described the syntax of the language and the elements that compose it. The paper also contains a descriptions and application files needed to run the language. It is shown an example implementation of the language procesor and LML conducted a brie discussion of suitability of language LML.

    The authors outline the history of state examinations for certification in Polish as a foreign language, focusing on their organization and structure in Poznań. In particular, the results of the Poznań-based examinations are compared with the average results of all exams carried out in Poland and abroad, proving that, basically, they do not differ much from one another. A detailed analysis of the results makes it also possible to formulate certain postulates related to the preparation for the examination with certification for the School of Polish Language and Culture for Foreign Students at Adam Mickiewicz University that may be taken into consideration in the future.

    Opis:
    A certificate proving the holder’s proficiency in a foreign language for specific purposes (LSP) should guarantee that the person submitting such a document is able to perform specific professional tasks using the particular foreign language. Therefore, an examination measuring such competencies should meet certain requirements and have certain characteristics. What are the differences between testing languages for general and for specific purposes? Are these differences visible in existing certificate examinations? Do the language certificates issued on the basis of LSP examinations give employers a guarantee that the employee can handle professional tasks which demand the use of the foreign language in question? In an attempt to answer these queries, the article will outline the theoretical principles behind testing languages for specific purposes and try to compare the theory and practice through an analysis of several LSP exams available on the market. Reflecting on the observations, it will also try to determine why the reality is often so distant from the theoretical foundations.

    Opis:
    The article presents selected psychological and sociological aspects of the process of evaluating educational attainment in language education. Attention is given to stereotypical and ahistorical opinions connected with the role of assessment in grammar-translation and audiolingual methods as well as in the communicative approach. Distortions are also discussed such as introducing testing techniques of a practical value in mass education as solutions responding to authentic communicative needs of the learners or presenting formative evaluation as one of the recent educational innovations. Several myths which unify the academic community and facilitate interaction are examined and distinguished from complex issues and difficulties such as assessing intercultural competence or objectivizing the evaluation of interactive skills. The text suggests that misrepresentation of the past serves to create an image of continuous progress in SLA/FLT as well as to paint a more optimistic picture of the present educational context with assessment as its integral element.

    W artykule pokazano, że zasady tworzenia tekstów zgodnie ze standardem plain language i narzędzia pomiaru ich czytelności mogą znaleźć zastosowanie w procesie adaptowania tekstów służących do testowania znajomości JPJO. Dostosowywanie wykorzystywanych w zadaniach testowych tekstów oryginalnych (autentycznych) do wymogów standardów egzaminacyjnych wymaga ich modyfikacji. Już ze wstępnej analizy przykładowych zadań służących do testowania sprawności czytania na egzaminie certyfikatowym z JPJO wynika, że będące ich podstawą teksty oryginalne poddano transformacjom zgodnym z zasadami plain language. W przygotowaniu tekstów do testowania znajomości języka polskiego jako obcego można więc posługiwać się schematem upraszczania tekstów opisanym przez badaczy prostej polszczyzny, a w ustalaniu stopnia ich trudności pomocniczo wykorzystywać automatyczne narzędzia pomiaru.
    The article shows that the rules for creating texts in accordance with the plain language standard as well as the tools used for measuring their readability can also be used in the process of adapting texts for testing knowledge of Polish as a foreign language. It is required to modify original (authentic) texts used in exam tasks in order to adapt those texts in a way that they correspond with exam standards requirements. Yet, the initial analysis of sample tasks aimed at testing reading comprehension in Polish as a foreign language exams shows that the underlying original texts were transformed according to the plain language rules. Therefore, when preparing texts for testing knowledge of Polish as a foreign language it is possible to apply the text simplification patterns described by researchers of plain Polish. The level of difficulty of those texts can be determined using automatic measurement tools as an auxiliary method.

    W artykule omawiane są, na podstawie opracowań glottodydaktycznych, niektóre poglądy na temat roli i znaczenia języka ojczystego w procesie nauczania języka obcego. Podkreślamy w nim znaczenie reguły gramatycznej. Omawiamy także znaczenie ćwiczeń tłumaczeniowych z języka ojczystego na język obcy. Opracowanie zawiera rozwiązania dydaktyczne w zakresie wykorzystania języka polskiego w nauczaniu gramatyki języka rosyjskiego na zajęciach z praktycznej nauki języka rosyjskiego. Zaprojektowane przez nas kwanty informacji lingwistycznej mają na celu zbadanie skuteczności oddziaływania ćwiczeń translacyjnych wśród studentów filologii rosyjskiej oraz prezentują znaczenie komentarza gramatycznego i kontrastowania form języka rosyjskiego z formami języka polskiego jako skutecznych środków zapobiegających interferencji języka polskiego.
    In the article, some views on the role and significance of the native language in the process of teaching foreign language are discussed. The author emphasises the significance of grammar rules in forming language awareness of students and discusses the role of translation exercises from a native language to a foreign language. The article contains didactic solutions in the scope of using the Polish language in teaching Russian grammar at classes of practical Russian. The quantums of linguistic information designed by the author of the article aim at examining the effectiveness of translation exercises among Russian philology students and explore the significance of grammar explanation and the importance of contrasting forms of the Russian and Polish language during the presentation of a new language material as the effective means of preventing interference from the Polish language.
