landscaping - Opis:
- Present landscape researches contain various approaches – from the geocomplex models or matrix – flake – corridors to mental landscapes (acoustic, aromatic, multisensoric, and childhood ones). According to European Landscape Convention, watchword of protection of quality and character of landscape, considered as individual distinction in identified regional features is the most important. Man should consciously influence landscape or form it so that to protect the most valuable features, parts and landscape structures. In the case of degraded landscapes recultivation, revalorization and revitalization are also needed. A landscape planning or perspective strategies for enlargement, reconstruction and forming of landscapes is also important. Four main directions of activities are pointed out in landscape planning of the European Union countries, these are: enhancing of the landscape quality in areas which are characterized by considerable improvement of its features, protection of valuable natural and landscape regions of continent, creation of new spatial solutions in postindustrial environment devastated by human impact, and reconstruction of the most valuable parts of landscape related to cultural heritage. Taking into consideration perceptive context is necessary for landscape planning. Landscape gives human complex stimuli which influence his decisions and spatial behaviors. These ones are the source of information about structure and functioning of landscape, and also the source of aesthetic experiences. Apart from visual stimuli, the sound ones play very important role in the perceptive landscape. Sound influences the quality of landscape, and forms its character. So it is important to discus planning of “soundscapes”, or sound layer of landscape; landscapes considered complexly, but specified on the basis of variability of tones. The main aim of the paper is presenting directions of the soundscape planning. Possibilities of soundscape protection were exemplified on border area of the Bug river valley, and creation, reconstruction and enhancing of soundscapes was proposed on the example of Lublin city. Results of researches conducted between 2000 and 2007 using questionnaire method and field surveys were presented. The role of sound in the landscape, interdisciplinary soundscapes studies, and acoustic designing and management has been also described. Necessity of acoustic designing activities was emphasized. Due to acoustic designing recognizing of places is easier, and their geographic and cultural identity, unique character is reinforced, landscape gets new quality. Sounds should be characterized by high quality of tone, proper time of duration, connection with environment and should be accepted by inhabitants. Consideration of informational context of sound and important role of silence is necessary. In relation to declined areas acoustic revitalization (process of improvement of human life conditions, economic activity and reconstruction of social relationships through spatial reconstruction, social-economic and cultural activity in declined districts of cities with special emphasis on new sound quality of landscape planning) is legitimate. Using the important role of sound in public spatial planning in cities and also drawing attention to natural soundscapes values is relevant. Mentioned activities are necessity of present time, dominated by noise.
