- The article deals with a designed and practically applied bisectional passive filter that works as a reactive power compensator as well as suppresses the 5th harmonic of the supply voltage. There are presented calculations concerning harmonic currents in the supply power and in the switched sections of the 5th harmonic filter. The calculations are illustrated by diagrams of current transfer functions versus the harmonic order. In the second part of the article there are presented time variations of parameters of the electric Power consumed by a high power dc converter drive applied to a pipe rolling mill. These quantities include: Power factor tg?, the mean phase current in the supply circuit and the percentage content of the chase voltage 5th harmonic for different configurations of the filter compensator. The presented measurements and analysis allow to formulate conclusions and design recommendations.
