The paper presents three main definitions of theoretical entity: basic definition, definition from unobservability, and ontological definition. These are the definitions of theoretical entity that are most popular and widely accepted by philosophers of science (both realists and antirealists). All these definitions contain significant defects, which lead to unacceptable conclusions. The author also offers an alternative definition from explanation, which avoids the defects of previous definitions. The aim of the paper is to prove that proper definition of theoretical entity is necessary in debates over scientific realism. To make a legitimate claim about the existence of theoretical entities, one should know what theoretical entity really is.

W artykule przedstawione zostały metody oceny autotermiczności wytłaczarki ślimakowo-tarczowej. Jednym z zagadnień jest określenie kryterium elementarnego i kompleksowego oceny autotermiczności wytłaczarki ślimakowo-tarczowej, a drugim określenie przestrzeni, w której występuje autotermiczność, a także określenie jej wpływu na uplastycznianie i jednorodność tworzywa w strefie tarczowej wytłaczarki ślimakowo-tarczowej.
The paper deals with methods for measurement and evaluation of autothermity of an innovative, experimental, autothermal screw-disk extruder used for processing polymer materials [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9] (Figs. 1, 2). One of the problems presented in the paper concerns determination of the elementary criteria for evaluation of the screw-disk extrude autothermity, namely thermal stability - St ε {0, 2, 4, 6, 8} (Fig. 3) and the quality of extrudate - Jw ε {I, II, III}, where Jw = I means good quality of extrudate, Jw = II means nearly good quality of fusion and homogenization of extrudate and Jw = III means poor fusion of extrudate (Fig. 4), and also the complex criterion for evaluation of autothermity, that provides a general state of autothermity - Ja ε {0, 2, 4, 6, 8}. The second problem is deter-mining the space in which the autothermity occurs (Fig. 5), as well as its influence on plasticization and homogeneity of material in a disk zone of a screw-disk extruder [10, 11, 12, 13, 14]. The above elementary and complex criteria make it possible for the quality of the extrusion autothermity in a screw-disk extruder to be expressed comprehensively, whereas the nature of the spaces obtained allows an influence of individual factors on achieving the autothermal effect of extrusion in a screw-disk extruder to be analysed.

The article presents spiritual guidance, startchestvo in the Eastern Churches. On the basis of two sayings of the Desert Fathers the author carried out a moral analysis of two spiritual starets’ behavior. Based on this analysis behavioral and moral norms were determined which regulated starets’ activities. We presented problems which can be observed in spiritual guidance when a starets violates the norms in relation to his supervisees. We pointed out that this violation in pastoral ministry can be caused by the phenomenon called “mock startchestvo”.

W pracy przedstawiona została metoda klasyfikacji oparta na kryterium dipolowym. Przeprowadzone testy numeryczne skłoniły autorów do modyfikacji początkowego kryterium prezentowanego w pracy [1] w taki sposób, by znaleziona hiperpłaszczyzna separowała jak największą liczbę obiektów należących do różnych klas, nie rozdzielając obiektów z tej samej klasy. Nowe podejście zostało przetestowane na wygenerowanych zbiorach danych, a otrzymane wyniki pozwoliły na implementację w postaci wywołań rekurencyjnych.
Finding a separating hyperplane for two classes by minimizing an error functional summing contributions for each poorly classified data point is by now common practice. Effective implementations in the framework of SVM or in terms of CPL functions are available and shown to work well for quite large sets of data. In this article a classification method based on dipoles is presented, which is a modification of a criterion given in [1]. We search for a hyperplane cutting between classes and not through their middle. The crux is to define a suitable functional, which is small on lines with good separation power and little damage, easy to calculate and to minimize. We perform numerical tests and modify the criterion in a way that preserves the intention of finding cuts between classes (and not through their middle), which separate as many data points as possible. However, we do not count (in integers), but weigh by taking the distance to the wrong side. The approach was tested on some synthetic data sets using a recursive implementation.

Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia francuską metodę projektowania konstrukcji nawierzchni podatnych oraz próbę przystosowania jej do polskich specyfikacji dotyczących mieszanek mineralno-asfaltowych. Opisano sposób dobierania parametrów materiałowych oraz obliczania współczynników modyfikujących trwałość zmęczeniową warstw asfaltowych konstrukcji nawierzchni. Dodatkowo opisano sposób obliczania trwałości nawierzchni ze względu na kryterium deformacji strukturalnych. By zobrazować sposób obliczeń konstrukcji nawierzchni wykonano przykład obliczeniowy dla podbudowy z betonu asfaltowego o wysokim module sztywności.
This article presents French design method for flexible road pavements and an attempt of using this method with Polish specification of asphalt mixtures. Author presented how to select material parameters for typical asphalt mixtures and how to calculate coefficients which modify fatigue life of asphalt pavement. In addition criterion of structural deformation was presented as well. Example calculation for flexible road pavement with road base made of high-modulus asphalt mix was made to illustrate French design method with Polish material parameters.

This paper discusses the orthographic standard of the modern Polish language as regards capitalisation. On selected examples, we point to the fact that the general nature of orthographic rules governing capitalisation makes them ignore numerous phenomena characteristic of the economic and legal sphere. The absence of an up-to-date and diverse sample material illustrating the individual rules, in turn, hampers making prescriptive decisions with regard to the spelling of specific expressions from the domain of the latest official Polish language. As a consequence, the mismatch between codification and usage increases, which is exemplifi ed in the analytical part of the paper. The conducted research leads to the conclusion that such standardisation of the spelling of specialist varieties of Polish as satisfi es the needs of its users is an urgent matter.

The article contains the reporting definition for the criterion of identity, a classification of criteria of identity and the general conditions that criteria of identity should meet. The author suggests replacing the binary division of criteria of identity into one- and two-level ones with a ternary division into one level, mixed and two-level criteria. In this suggestion the key role is played by the definition of the range of relation. The article is concluded with a partial solution to the dispute between T. Williamson and E. Lowe over the value of one-level criteria of identity.

The main objective of this article is to explain the role of the concept of a ‘criterion’ in Ludwig Wittgenstein’s philosophy. To do so, the author juxtaposes a few well‑known interpretations of this issue, and compares the notion of a criterion with the notion of a rule. Contrary to Peter M.S. Hacker’s reading, he points out that according to Wittgenstein, to give the ‘criteria of use’ of an expression is to determine its ‘grammar’. To meet the criteria does not merely mean justifying the fact that a given thing occurs, but means that a given expression has an application under the particular conditions. Thus, there is no difference between the determination of the criteria of an expression’s use and the explication of its meaning. It should be noted that the fact that the expression ‘x’ has an application in a given situation does not always imply that the sentence ‘this is x’ is also true in this situation. The Wittgensteinian notion of a criterion is a semantical rather than an epistemological concept. Therefore, the conceived criteria cannot be used to reject scepticism, if by rejecting it we mean demonstrating its falsity. According to Wittgenstein, we can show at most that a sceptic, who rejects all criteria of use of words, cannot frame any doubts.

Ostatnia część artykułu zawiera przemyślenia i wnioski autora na temat uregulowań w omawianym zakresie.
One of the employer’s right is the possibility of the verification if employees fulfil their official duties. Periodical opinion of the quality of employee’s work with reference to self - government employer is also the employer’s duty. The article shows the current analysis of solutions in the range of the opinion of the self – government employees. It shows the right bases these activities, subjective and objective range opinions and procedures connected with its realization. The last part of the article contains the author’s reflections and conclusions about the regulation in the discussed range.

This article is focused on considerations of taxonomic methodology of traditional historical design, and is a development of the article entitled "The geometry of domes." A basic parameter referred to in the analysis is the criterion of geometric complexity. On this basis every object was analyzed and classified according to the adopted category. The dimensions and construction material were also given. The practical use of the proposed method is illustrated in examples by the outstanding works of architecture such as: the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Florence, the chapel of San Pietro in Montorio Basilica of St. Peter in Rome, the Church of Santa Maria della Consolazione at Todi, Il Redentore in Venice, Church of s. Ivo in Rome. Those selected objects are European provenience and come from the Renaissance and Baroque. According to the above parameters the table in which the individual structures were systematized was created. It aims to compare the changes taking place in the field of geometry, size and the way of constructing the objects. Analysis, which were made, lead to the obvious conclusion that each following geometric solution are is based on the existing achievements.

CEL NAUKOWY: Naczelnym celem badawczym niniejszych rozważań jest przedstawienie przejrzystości oraz skali zjawiska outsourcingu politycznego w Polsce w okresie od 2007 do 2019 roku. PROBLEM I METODY BADAWCZE: Kluczowym problemem poruszanym w artykule jest zewnętrzna działalność doradcza, która wspomaga ideowo, programowo i medialnie partie polityczne w toku ich bieżącej działalności. W części teoretycznej wykorzystano metodę analizy krytycznej literatury przedmiotu. W części empirycznej poddano analizie dane dostępne na stronach Państwowej Komisji Wyborczej PROCES WYWODU: W pierwszej kolejności ustalona będzie definicja outsourcingu politycznego, w drugiej przedstawione zostanie kryterium jego oceny etycznej, w trzeciej zostanie podjęta próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy outsourcing polityczny jest w Polsce transparentny, a w czwartej przedstawione będą wydatki polskich partii politycznych na działalność outsourcingową w ciągu lat 2007–2019. WYNIKI ANALIZY NAUKOWEJ: Analiza wykazała, że działalność doradcza na rzecz organizacji partyjnych jest prowadzona w Polsce w warunkach mało przejrzystych dla statystycznego wyborcy oraz badacza przedmiotowego zjawiska. Ogólnie dostępne dane zawierają zbyt mało informacji w zakresie praktycznej identyfikacji pomiotów świadczących tego rodzaju działalność. Jednocześnie skala samego zjawiska – jak dowiodło badanie empiryczne – jest na tyle szeroka, że wymaga dalszych pogłębionych badań. Artykuł ma w założeniu autorów stać się przyczynkiem do zintensyfikowania dyskusji na temat sposobu i celów wydatkowania subwencji partyjnych na usługi outsourcingowe. WNIOSKI, INNOWACJE, REKOMENDACJE: Ustalenia zawarte w artykule – zarówno czynione z perspektywy teoretycznej, jak i na bazie przeprowadzonego badania empirycznego –mogą być przydatne w dyskusji interdyscyplinarnej na temat sposobu wydatkowania środków budżetowych przeznaczanych na subwencjonowanie działalności partii politycznych w Polsce. W zakończeniu autorzy sygnalizują potrzebę wprowadzenia kompleksowego systemu przepływu informacji publicznej, umożliwiającego statystycznemu wyborcy-podatnikowi weryfikację podmiotów świadczących usługi doradcze na rzecz partii politycznych oraz zakresu przedmiotowego zawieranych umów.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The main research objective of this publication is to present the transparency and scale of the political outsourcing phenomenon in Poland in the years 2007–2019. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The key problem raised in the article is the external advisory activity that supports ideologically, programmatically and medially political parties in the course of their current activities. In the theoretical part was used method of critical analysis of the literature. In the empirical part was analyzed available data on the website of the State Electoral Commission THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The reasoning will be based on the presentation of definition of political outsourcing and the criterion of its ethical evaluation. Then an attempt will be focused to answer the question whether political outsourcing is transparent in Poland. Finally will be presented the expenses of Polish political parties on outsourcing activities in the years 2007–2019 RESEARCH RESULTS: The analysis has shown that consulting activity for polish political parties is conducted in not transparent conditions for a statistical voter and a researchers of this phenomenon. Generally available data contain limited information on the practical identification of entities providing this kind of activity. Simultaneously the scale of this phenomenon proved by the empirical studies was so wide that it requires further detailed research. The article is intended to be a contribution to intensify the discussion on the methods and purposes of spending parties subsidies on outsourcing services. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The conclusions contained in the article, both from the theoretical perspective and on the basis of empirical research, may be useful in the interdisciplinary discussion on the way of spending budget funds allocated to subsidize the activities of political parties in Poland. In conclusion, the authors signal the need to establish a comprehensive system of public information flow. Statistical voter‑taxpayers should be able to verify the entities providing consulting services to political parties and the scope of their contracts.

In this article, I undertake an attempt at recognizing and critically analyzing antecedents of fallibilism in the philosophy of Carneades. Because descriptions of fallibilism are somewhat ambiguous, it is imperative that we first determine the semantic root of this doctrine (both in its negative and positive dimensions) before discussing it in historical and philosophical reflections. The main goal of this article is not to prove that Carneades was a fallibilist before Peirce and Popper, or that he was a precursor of this position; rather, the aim is to critically review arguments for and against fallibilistic interpretations of Carneades’ views. To this end, I introduce a distinction between global and local fallibilism, as well as discuss the position of eudaimonological fallibilism. The reflections contained in this article fit with the current lively debate on the historical roots of fallibilism.
Artykuł podejmuje problem rozpoznania i krytycznego rozważenia antecedencji fallibilizmu w filozofii Karneadesa. Warto zwrócić uwagę na fakt, że fallibilizm jest stanowiskiem, którego charakterystyka nie jest jednoznaczna. W pierwszej zatem kolejności należy wyodrębnić rdzeń znaczeniowy tej doktryny (przede wszystkim zarówno wymiar negatywny, jak i pozytywny), aby się nim posługiwać w rozważaniach historyczno-filozoficznych. Intencją artykułu nie jest próba dowodzenia, że Karneades był fallibilistą przed Peircem i Popperem, czy też że był on prekursorem tego stanowiska. Zasadniczy cel rozważań koncentruje się na krytycznym przeglądzie argumentów dotyczących fallibilistycznego odczytania jego poglądów. W tym celu odróżniony zostanie fallibilizm globalny i fallibilizm lokalny, a także omówione zostanie stanowisko eudajmonologicznego fallibilizmu. Tym samym rozważania podjęte w tym artykule mieścić się będą w obrębie ożywionej obecnie dyskusji nad historycznymi źródłami fallibilizmu.

Opis:
W pracy staramy się sprawdzić wpływ jaki ma dobór kryterium wyboru testu na nadmierne dopasowanie w drzewach decyzyjnych. Uważamy, że losowe kryterium doboru może okazać się nie gorsze od kryterium entropijnego. Nasze przypuszczenia potwierdzają wstępne badania wykonane dla trzech (niewielkich rozmiarów) zbiorach trenujących, co w naszej opinii zasługuje na dalsze eksperymenty.
In this paper we try to check the influence of selection criteria for the test selection for excessive fit in decision trees. We believe that a random criteria selection may not be worse than the criteria of entropy. Our supposition is confirmed by preliminary tests performed for three training sets, which in our opinion deserves further experiments.
