    The present analysis attempts to characterise a certain specific aspect of the image of God as reflected in the language of Willibald Omansen as well as to uncover some of the linguistic mechanisms this German writer employs. Maintained in the general framework of lexical semantics, the analysis focuses on the central lexeme God together with its connotational frame as well as on the indirectness with which the conceptualisation of God is encoded linguistically, typical of Omansen’s idiolect.

    Opis:
    This article focuses on comparative characteristics of associative images of female and male saints. The study was aimed to reconstruct and compare associative representations. The respondents were 80 students of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The methods used in the study included a “but-test” (X is A, but…) and a free association test. The data collected (received from respondents) for a saint-woman demonstrate that she is frequently attributed with features such as e.g., humble, merciful, virtuous/chaste, while a saint-man is typically presented as: strong, principal, adamant. The image of a female and male saint may strongly depend on the general image of a woman and man (respectively). According to the participants of the present study, both female and male saints have common attributes. Features of a saint include: goodness, altruism, helpfulness, devotion to God and faith, making miracles, courage, high-mindedness, serenity and humility.

    Opis:
    Tekst jest poświęcony analizie wypowiedzi poselskich. Źródłem materiału badawczego były zapisy przebiegu posiedzeń Komisji Etyki Poselskiej publikowane na stronie internetowej Kancelarii Sejmu VIII kadencji (od 10 stycznia (nr 48) do 14 czerwca 2018 r. (nr 56)). Celem artykułu jest próba doprecyzowania norm, odnalezienia sposobu kwalifikowania sposobów komunikacji naruszającej określone zasady. Opis przykładowych wypowiedzi osadzono wparadygmacie badawczym komunikatywizmu i aksjolingwistyki. Treści zawarte w tekście zostały uporządkowane w następujący sposób: wstęp, charakterystyka materiału badawczego, przedstawienie zbioru zasad stanowiących punkt odniesienia dla prowadzonych analiz, opis metody badawczej, prezentacja wybranych przykładów, wnioski. Zauważono m.in., iż wypowiedzi poddawane ocenie, kwestionowane przez odbiorców odnoszą się niekiedy do rzeczywistości w sposób uogólniony, z użyciem negatywnie nacechowanych etykietek, dotyczą treści niezweryfikowanych oraz często naruszają dobre imię przeciwnika politycznego.
    The text is devoted to an analysis of statements uttered by Members of Parliament (MPs). The source of the material was some records of the Committee for MPs Ethics meetings published on the website of the Sejm Office of the 8th terms (as of 10 January till 14 June 2018 (no 56)). The aim of the paper is an attempt at delineating norms as well as finding out ways of qualifying communication that breaches certain rules. The description of sample statements is embedded in the research paradigm of communicativism and axiological linguistics. The analysis has been organized as follows: introduction, characteristics of the material, presenting a set of rules that make a point of reference for the analyses under investigation, a description of the research method, and, finally, the presentation of select samples and conclusions. On the basis of the study it has been observed that the examined statements, questioned by the addressees, sometimes make reference to reality on a general level, with the use of negatively charged labels, concern unverified contents and, frequently, besmirch the political opponent's good name.

    Opis:
    This paper constitutes a summary of studies in the field of axiological linguistics. Its main aim is to present a relationship between the moral judgement and the aesthetic evaluation of characters in the Polish fantasy literature and to elaborate on some of their their characteristics. The study shows that most of the analysed characters were created on the basis of an aesthetic and ethical parallelism, which means that the righteousbeautiful or the evil-hideous types are realized. Yet the parallelism is by no means overt in the literature. A tremendous role in modification of the character’s profile is played by such attributes as the character’s eyes and voice. Descriptions of the character’s body frame and scars, recurring features in the character’s profile, and means of indirect valuation (mostly colour) are axiologically analysed. Also, the most pronounced trends in the use of primarily evaluative means are pointed out.

    Opis:
    This article is the voice of Etnolingwityka’s editor-in-chief on the current tasks of ethnolinguistics as a scholarly subdiscipline, as well as of the journal. According to the author, of the two foundations of Slavic ethnolinguistics mentioned by Nikita Tolstoy (i.e., its pan-Slavic character and the unity of language and culture) it is mainly the latter that has preserved its topicality: language is the source of knowledge about people and human communities, as well as the basis for building one’s identity (individual, national, regional, professional). The agenda of cultural linguistics has been followed by the contributors to the present journal and its editorial team with a focus on various genres of folkore, the problems of the linguistic worldview, and in recent issues with studies on the semantics of selected cultural concepts (family, democracy, equality, otvetstvennost’, etc.). Ethnolinguistic research of this sort, seeking “culture in language” (i.e. in the semantic layer of linguistic forms), render ethnolinguistics (especially in its cognitive variant) close to Western cultural or anthropological linguistics. When Slavic ethnolinguistics, being treated as a cultural linguistics, focuses on the semantics of value terms, it stands a good chance of engaging in a dialogue with Western anthropological linguistics and contributing original insights to the common body of research on values. A specific proposal in this direction is the international project EUROJOS.
    O aktualnych zadaniach etnolingwistyki jako subdyscypliny badawczej i rocznika o tej nazwie  („Etnolingwistyka”  1988–2015) wypowiada się  redaktor naczelny pisma. Uważa, że z dwóch zasad,  które u podstaw etnolingwistyki słowiańskiej stawiał Nikita Tołstoj – wymiar ogólnosłowiański i jedność języka i kultury – aktualność  zachowała głównie ta druga zasada, tj. traktowanie języka jako źródła wiedzy o człowieku i społeczności  i podstawy budowania własnej tożsamości  (indywidualnej, narodowej, regionalnej, zawodowej). Program  lingwistyki kulturowej był realizowany przez redakcję rocznika i autorów piszących na jego łamach w latach 1988–2015 z nastawieniem na różne gatunki folkloru, na problemy językowego obrazu świata, w ostatnich numerach pisma – na studia szczegółowe dotyczące semantyki wybranych  konceptów kulturowych (rodzina, demokracja, równość, otvetstvennost’ itp.). Tak uprawiane badania etnoligwistyczne – szukające „kultury w języku”, w semantycznej warstwie  form językowych – zbliżają etnolingwistykę  (zwłaszcza w jej wariancie kognitywnym)  do zachodniej lingwistyki kulturowej. Etnolingwistyka słowiańska traktowana jako lingwistyka kulturowa, obierając za wyróżniony  przedmiot swoich zainteresowań  semantykę nazw wartości, ma szanse wejść w partnerski dialog z zachodnią lingwistyką antropologiczną i wnieść do wspólnych badań nad wartościami swój oryginalny wkład. Propozycją ram dla takiego dialogu jest międzynarodowe konwersatorium etnolingwistyczne  EUROJOS.
