This article is the second and the last part of a series dedicated to the characteristics of a description of Christ’s seven words uttered on the cross as accounted in Old Polish biblical and apocryphal narrations. In part one, I focus on the origin of the words, the characteristics of Old Polish texts containing them. I highlight the most important differences in the narration of the specific fragments of Old Polish Passions of Jesus. Part two is entirely dedicated to the language of the fragments of Old Polish texts on Christ’s seven words uttered on the cross (ŻPJK, SCh and RD). First, I present the enumeration schemes in each apocrypha. They are strictly related to the tradition of religious instruction and teaching and are an attempt at sorting out the material. The article presents also the various ways in which Christ’s specific words are called. The regular word-forming structure of the modifiers affects the rhythmic form of the specific fragments of texts. Finally, I show how quotations from Christ were introduced into each apocrypha: how the utterances’ modal frame was shaped and what verbs of speech were used. It turns out that in each historic text, Christ’s words were treated differently: in the SCh, they were described most extensively and in the RD – least extensively but it is the RD where the enumerations are most precise with respect to the syntax, perhaps because the specific parts are at the smallest distance from each other. Christ’s seven words on the cross are least structured in the ŻPJK.

The city in Seven is full of dark and claustrophobic spaces, dominated by three colors: black, green and red. The significance of these colors is associated with sin: laziness (green), impurity (red) and pride (red, white). Desaturation of color and deep blacks throughout the film are the result of artistic treatments such as flyflashing and bleach-bypass. Color is complemented by light – sometimes minimal, other times quite blinding. The sound of thunder and rain complete the picture of the city as a place of moral decay, where two forces are fighting: light and darkness, purity and sin.

There is an eighteenth-century painting depicting Allegory of Divine Providence in the convent of the Sisters of the Visitation in Kraków. The iconography is unique. In addition to figures of people and animals abandoning themselves to the care of Divine Providence, it also shows the seven archangels. Although the Catholic Church only recognizes three Archangels (Gabriel, Michael and Raphael), portrayals of seven archangels appeared in European art at the end of sixteenth century and in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, which also showed figures representing Uriel, Barachiel, Sealtiel and Jehudiel. The Reverend Ignacy Tłuczyński also mentions them in a book—on to the subject of angels and the care which angels and heavenly spirits provide to people—published in Kraków in 1677. It would be impossible to have a full understanding of the message conveyed in the Kraków painting without having knowledge of Polish eighteenth-century religious songs devoted to Divine Providence. The dominant motif—which also appears on other Polish paintings depicting Divine Providence—is the portrayal of people and animals together, to whom Providence is offering various gifts.

This article is the first of two parts of a description of the motif of the seven words uttered by the crucified Christ in old Polish biblical and apocrypha narrations. The author presents the origin of the motif, characteristics of old Polish texts in which it occurred; the most important differences have been highlighted in the feature arrangement of the specific fragments of old Polish Passion of Jesus. The body of the article is represented by depiction of the sources of the seven words uttered by Christ on the cross, presentation of various ways of medieval scribes using the Holy Scriptures and an attempt to capture the motif severing itself from the original source. While the words uttered by Jesus on the cross come from the Gospels, neither of the four evangelists confirmed all of them. The chronology of the words is also arbitrary. In all old Polish apocrypha containing a description of Christ’s death on the cross, the motif of the seven words plays an important role and has been analysed with respect to the content and the vocabulary. The second part of the characteristics will be devoted to the linguistic development of the description of the motif in question.

Units with a numeral component are clearly noticeable in phraseo-paremical resources. This is particularly the case of richly represented multiword combinations with the lexeme “seven”. The comparative analysis presented in this article considers the phrases and paremias of Slavic languages with the component “seven”. They manifest a conceptualising numerical dimension in indications of quantity and intensity by reference to the value of seven units of something, and also by variance or opposition within numerical indices with the central segment “seven”.
W zasobach frazeologiczno-paremicznych wyraźnie zauważalne są jednostki z komponentem liczebnikowym, w szczególności bogato reprezentowane są związki z leksemem „siedem”. W przeprowadzonym badaniu porównawczym analizie poddano frazeologizmy i paremie języków słowiańskich ze składnikiem „siedem”. Ukazują one konceptualizacyjny wymiar liczbowy przejawiający się we wskazaniach na miarę ilości oraz intensywność poprzez odniesienie do wartości siedmiu jednostek czegoś, a także poprzez oboczność bądź przeciwstawność w obrębie odniesień liczbowych z ośrodkowym segmentem „siedem”.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przebadanie tradycji dotyczącej śmierci Sary, która została opisana w Rdz 23,1-2. Fundamentem są tu dwie informacje, które nadają tekstowi biblijnemu szczególnie ważnego i ciekawego charakteru. Mowa o wieku i miejscu śmierci żony Abrahama. Zarówno tradycja chrześcijańska jak i żydowska przedstawiają w tej materii dwa podejścia, które wzajemnie się uzupełniają. Choć na pierwszy rzut oka Rdz 23,1-2 nie wyróżnia się niczym od towarzyszących mu wersetów tekstu natchnionego to jednak po głębszej analizie można dojść do intrygujących spostrzeżeń i ciekawych wniosków.
The purpose of this article is to examine the tradition concerning Sarah’s death as described in Gen 23:1-2. The foundation for this is two pieces of information that give the biblical text a particularly important and interesting character. These are the age and place of death of Abraham’s wife. Both Christian and Jewish traditions present two traditions on this matter that complement each other. Although at first glance Genesis 23:1-2 does notstand out from the accompanying verses of the inspired text, intriguing insights and interesting conclusions can be reached upon deeper analysis.

Prace polskich archeologów w Sudanie, trwające od tzw. „Kampanii Nubijskiej” (1961-1964), stale wzbogacają wiedzę o chrześcijańskiej Nubii. Nowe badania nie tylko zmuszają do korygowania wiedzy na temat Nubii, ale także do świeżego spojrzenia na średniowieczne chrześcijaństwo. Ciekawym wątkiem nubijskiej angelologii są świadectwa kultu siedmiu archaniołów potwierdzone w inskrypcjach, a także w malarstwie i architekturze. W przypadku Nubii nie zachowały się obszerne opisy rozwoju kultu archaniołów i wiedza opiera się na łączeniu pojedynczych informacji, które po zebraniu tworzą pełny obraz. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zebranie tych informacji i pokazanie, iż kult archaniołów rozwijał się w Nubii i istniał pewien stały skład imion tych archaniołów. 
The works of Polish archaeologists in Sudan, ongoing since "The Nubian Campaign" (1961-1964), constantly enrich our knowledge about Christian Nubia. New research not only forces us to correct our knowledge on Nubia, but also to take a fresh look at Mediaeval Christianity. An interesting thread of Nubian angelology is the evidence of seven archangels’ cult confirmed in inscriptions as well as in painting and architecture. In the case of Nubia, we do not have extensive descriptions of the development of the archangels’ worship and our knowledge is based on the combination of individual data, which, when collected, may form a complete picture. The purpose of this paper is to gather these single tesserae and show that the worship of archangels was developing in Nubia and that there was a certain permanent set of the archangelic names.

Przypuszcza się, iż opisany w XVI wieku przez św. Filipa Nereusza szlak wędrówki dewocyjnej po siedmiu bazylikach Rzymu mógł mieć swoje źródła w tradycji ludowej, a bez wątpienia wynikał z przywołania i zaadaptowania do nowych warunków pamięci o znanej niegdyś ludycznej w charakterze obrzędowości modlitewnej. Opisane przez tego świętego itinerarium pielgrzymie wyznaczały cztery bazyliki większe: św. Piotra na Watykanie, św. Pawła za Murami, św. Jana na Lateranie, Najświętszej Maryi Panny Śnieżnej oraz trzy mniejsze: św. Krzyża Jerozolimskiego, św. Wawrzyńca za Murami oraz św. Sebastiana. W 1621 roku w krakowskiej oficynie drukarskiej Franciszka Cezarego została wydana broszura zatytułowana Siedm kościołów krakowskich. Inicjatorem jej druku był biskup krakowski Marcin Szyszkowski, który przez wiele lat przebywał w Rzymie, gdzie zapoznał się z działalnością św. Filipa Nereusza. Od chwili, kiedy został biskupem krakowskim zaczął zaszczepiać w swojej diecezji elementy potrydenckiej dewocji Wiecznego Miasta. Jednym z nich było zainicjowanie nabożeństwa Siedmiu kościołów krakowskich, które otrzymało przywileje i odpusty rzymskiego szlaku pątniczego.
The religious tour of seven Roman basilicas described back in the 16th century by St Philip Neri is thought to have its roots in folk tradition, though undoubtedly was a product of recalling and adapting the memory of an old, ludic prayer tradition to the new circumstances. The itinerary described by the saint listed four major basilicas: St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican, St Paul’s Basilica Outside the Walls, Basilica of St John Lateran, Basilica of St Mary and three minor ones: Basilica of the Cross of Jerusalem, St Basilica of St Lawrence Outside the Walls, and St Sebastian’s Basilica. In 1621 the Krakow printing house of Franciszek Cezary issued a brochure entitled Siedm kościołów krakowskich. Its release was initiated by Marcin Szyszkowski, who had stayed in Rome for many years, where he acquainted himself with the work of St Philip Neri. The moment Szyszkowski became the Krakow bishop, he began to implement elements of post-Trent devotion of the Eternal City in his own diocese. One of such innovations was to initiate the Service of the Seven Krakow Churches, which was granted privileges and indulgences of the Roman pilgrimage trail.

This article outlines the negative impact on the environment of the Kilimanjaro Mountain which is a result of commercial approach to mountaineering and change of the climber’s profile. Kilimanjaro, which was called “trampled mountain” in the years 1977–2007, has been visited by 627,974 tourists. The National Park of Kilimanjaro pocketed 25.7 millions USD from admission fees in 2006 only. Officials of the Park are more interested in the commercial aspect than the environmental one. A significant increase in the admission charges is linked with increasing the estimates of number of tourists that the Mountain can bear, which is supported by scientific research. The article presents numbers of tourists in the years1977–2007 shown graphically and compared with data for other mountains from the Seven Summits list.

Abstract The Author concentrates herself on a role of literary works and reading thereof. In relation to the above, she presents positions of experts on the issue. She is also interested in required reading in the reformed primary school. Apart from theoretical inquiries, the considerations are based on the results of a survey which was carried out among a seven-grade pupils in 2018. Due to the gathered material, the Author pays attention to an analysis of the first survey question concerning the benefit from reading literary works/ required reading for pupils. The gathered material is rich which favours carrying out a wide analysis in the light of opinions of the experts on the issue as well as applicable ministerial documents.

The article presents the work by Evagrius Ponticus De octo spiritibus malitiae and its place in Christian spirituality. The object of the analysis are the main characteristics of the contemporary interpretations of the doctrine of the Seven Deadly Sins contained in Evagrius' work. Particular sins are discussed in contemporary interpretations concerning spirituality: gastrimargia (gluttony), porneia (lust), filarguria (greed), wrath, acedia (sloth), vainglory and pride. References are indicated of the Seven Deadly Sins to numerous aspects of Christian spiritual life.
