Opis:
The main purpose of this research is to find out how foreign terminology effects on Polish terms in the field of typography and book publication process. The author focuses on etymological aspects of specialist terminology used by printers, type-setters and nowadays desktop publishers. Mentioned terms travelled between European countries along with the technological transfer. To track down all etymological threads and borrowings from foreign languages, author analyzed lexical data from many specialist and professional dictionaries and on-line lexicology bases. Research might be helpful to put in order and understand terms which are often misused according to terminological chaos caused and fixed by careless or literal translations, especially in computer environment. Presented words are only selection from the most popular terms used in publishing process, and should be considered as contribution for further research.

Opis:
The Communists started to take control of the typographical industry already in 1944. Printing presses were taken over by various institutions, administrative units, and political parties. Some companies were included in the group run by the Central Administration of State Typographical Plants, which was reorganised several times, and subsequently placed under supervision of various ministries. During the years 1951-1956, typographical plants were administered by the Central Office for Publications, Typographical Industry and Bookselling. The war losses, estimated at 85% of the pre-war potential, combined with the difficulties constructing the presses and related machinery, lack of trained personnel quality of the printing materials (paper, ink, glue, cardboard), and with introduction of central planned economy into the typographical production processes, all resulted in poor quality of the printed books and other publications.

The article presents the results of archaeological and architectural investigations that have been carried out within a former printing house at the Lubrańskiʼs Academy in Ostrów Tumski in Poznań, together with a collection of lead pieces of type collected between 2002 and 2014. Archaeological evidence serves as a pretext for revising the history of printing houses operating in the area since the turn of the seventeenth century towards the end of the eighteenth century.

The article presents the basic information related to the issue of controlling. The work contains the most common in the literature definitions of controlling, its classifications and areas of potential applications. Then the authors present basic information about the printing industry in Poland, and also pay attention to the possible use of controlling in this sector. Authors described also the basic needs of controlling in the printing industry. In the research part of the article, the authors based on data from the chosen printing company present the application of certain aspects of controlling, as well as indicate where the unit of controlling in the organizational structure. Prepared tables can significantly facilitate the functioning of the company, and are very simple and convenient tool for monitoring and early warning. The authors thanks to their knowledge and experience in printing prepared sets of measures at both operational and strategic. With the collected history data it became possible to determine the allowable deviation and a statement in which measures company should focus corrective action. In the prepared tables authors use a holistic approach, and the procedures proposed by Prof. S. Marciniak. Worthy of note is also the fact that the subject matter of controlling the printing industry is not too often raised in scientific studies.

The article discusses difficulties in tracing Old Polish phonetics in an early printed text. It demonstrates the importance of rediscovering the Old Polish phonetics and, at the same time, the limits of such endeavour. The linguistic features are shown to melt with the conventional ways of printing certain words. These conventions have to do with graphic aspects of the text rather than with the real language. The problem is presented primarily by using Old Polish loanwords as an example.

Poligrafia to jedna z największych gałęzi przemysłu lekkiego. Sporą jej część stanowi drukowanie gazet i czasopism z zastosowaniem czterech technik: druku wypukłego, offsetowego, wklęsłodruku oraz sitodruku. Najbardziej popularny jest druk offsetowy. Wśród krajowych zakładów poligraficznych i punktów kserograficznych prawie 56% stanowią mikroprzedsiębiorstwa zatrudniające mniej niżej 10 pracowników. W artykule omówiono zagrożenia związane z takimi czynnikami szkodliwymi, jak: substancje chemiczne, pyły, hałas i drgania mechaniczne, mikroklimat, promieniowanie (podczerwone, nadfioletowe, laserowe, magnetyczne, elektromagnetyczne), czynniki mechaniczne, które mogą występować na stanowiskach pracy w zakładach poligraficznych i kserograficznych.
Printing is one of the more important branch of light industry. The printing of newspapers and magazines is a big part of that industry. There are four printing techniques: convex, offset, plate and silk-screen printing.The most popular is offset printing. Microenterprises with fewer than 10 workers constitute almost 56% of domestic printing plants and print shops. Because of the variety of technologies and printing techniques used in printing plants and print shops there can be risks connected with harmful factors: chemical substances, dusts, noise and vibration, radiation (infrared, ultraviolet, laser, magnetic and electromagnetic) and mechanical factors at workstations.

W sektorze poligraficznym funkcjonuje w Polsce około 8,8 tys. podmiotów zatrudniających ponad 49 tys. pracowników. Z badań przeprowadzonych przez GUS w 2013 r. na grupie 30655 pracowników wynika,że u 7625 (około25%) wystąpiły zagrożenia podczas pracy Ponad 15% z nich zatrudnionych było w warunkach zagrożenia. Zagrożenia te związane były ze środowiskiem pracy, uciążliwością pracy oraz czynnikami mechanicznymi. Artykuł ma na celu ocenę szkodliwości warunków pracy w drukarniach pod kątem rodzajów wypadków i ich częstotliwości w ciągu ostatnich lat. Analiza wykazała, że mimo szerokiego spektrum zagrożeń, jakie towarzyszą pracownikom branży poligraficznej, wypadki odnotowane w drukarniach miały z reguły charakter lekki i objęły niewielką grupę pracowników. W artykule dokonano również oceny ryzyka zawodowego zgodnie z PN-M-18002:2011.
There are about 8800 entities with over 49000 workers m the printing industry in Poland. A survey (GUS, 2013) on 30655 workers showed that 7625 (about 25%) of them had experienced hazardous situations at work. Over 15% of hem worked hazardous conditions related to the working environment strenuous work; and mechanical factors. This paper evaluates occupational hazards in printing houses focusing on the kind and frequency of accidents in the past few years. The analysis showed that despite the wide range of risks in the printing industry, accidents were generally light and they affected a relatively small group of workers. This paper also assesses risk in accordance with standard PN- N-18002:2011.

The printing literature provides different values of pressure between cylinders in the printing unit and between rollers in the ink unit of the offset printing machine. Very often there is no information on whether a given value of pressure is maximum or average. Another frequent problem referred to in the printing literature is that authors do not reveal the source of theorems, equations or other important information. This article includes a set of values collected for pressure, line pressure, press clamping and the contact zone width that have been presented by other authors in their specific articles and books. It also includes definitions of pressure, line pressure, press clamping, indentation of blanket and metric clamping. In addition, the article briefly presents findings of the experimental research related to the contact zone between cylinders and rollers was carried out in the printing unit and in the ink unit until present. This article also gives publication references which provide for different equations concerned with the clamping force of cylinders, their compression or indentation, the contact zone width and the impact the specific stress-strain has on blankets.

In the 17th century, funeral sermons were a frequent type of public address. Over six hundred of such sermons were published in Poland at the time. They were published by presses all around Poland, so that each region is represented in the production. Consequently, funeral sermons are a good source for research in regional varieties of Polish in the 17th century. The article presents the problem on the example of printed material from Lublin, published in the press owned by Paweł Konrad, Anna Konradowa, and Jan Wieczorkowicz. The inspection of the texts has shown that they represent typical qualities of 17th-century standard Polish, as well as regional differential and frequency-based qualities. Because sermons were written not only by authors from Małopolska, it can be assumed that their language was largely influenced by editors and printers.

This paper concerns the problem of intellectual property law in the context of 3D printing technology, that becomes more popular. In the age of universal digital communication and constant growth of importance of digital information goods, intellectual property is becoming a cause of dispute between different social groups. This is partly because of the impact of informal institutions formed during development of the Internet and social movements postulating free access to information (including the digital information goods). Other important issue is also the problem of public copyright infringement in order to achieve private benefits. Conflicts concerning enforcement of the intellectual property right are related to substantially all of the digitized content: written word, music, movies and software. On one hand the decrease of the costs of copying equipment, allows an average consumer to buy such a printer. On the other hand the increase of the Internet bandwidth makes this phenomenon more significant. 3D printing technology is the next stage of self-production process. This technology goes beyond the abstract world of information to a real world of physical goods. Thus, the violation of property rights refers now not only to information goods, but also to physical products. The authors put the thesis that the development of 3D printing technology will intensify the conflicts and will increase the number of abuses in area of intellectual property law. In this article the authors discuss the development of 3D printing technology, which originally was connected only with so-called rapid prototyping in the product development process. However, with cheaper equipment, this technology became available to a larger number of users who have used it to make the final products. This process was simultaneous to research projects conducted by academic institutions such as RepRap and Fab@Home. The main goal of RepRap project was to create self-replicating machine. The RepRap 3D printer allows to print more 3D printing devices. This project is regulated by copyleft licenses allowing to manipulate within the files with a legal authors permission. Extending the reflections on copyright issue the authors focused on the licenses that allow to share the projects files required for the creation of physical objects. Copyleft licenses are sometimes given illegally. Some of the project files contain elements that are under copyright restriction. This situation was discovered during the analysis of the content shared between users of 3D printers portals. This situation creates a great threat to the enterprises engaged in luxury goods because in this business the main value is the idea – the design. Easy replication provided by 3D printing technology enforces more effective copyright regulations or even modification of the form of distribution of items protected by law. The article focuses on the religious publications that were issued in Lvov in 1773-1800 by the printing press of the Lvov province, which belonged to Antoni Piller and later to his successors. Since the Pillers’ printing press was the only one active in the town between the latter half of the 1780s and the end of the 1790s, it accepted, apart from governmental printing orders, other commissions, including church and monastic ones. About thirty five religious texts were released by them. They were mostly prayer books and sermons, but also textbooks and religious education books, teaching guides for catechists, excerpts facilitating the understanding of the Gospel, as well as summaries of important Western European works that had an impact upon understanding the Christian religion and the debate of the existence of God.
