    The following article is a presentation of selected parts of researches about local specificities of competence to intercultural communication carried out within the framework of the grant KBN “Competence to intercultural communication in the context of traditional multiculturalism and migratory processes”. The article presents the analysis concerning the description of local communities in the tested youth group. Competence of intercultural communication was studied in the context of local community types, local identity and factor, which decides about local interdependence.

    Opis:
    Autorka podkreśla wychowawczą rolę środowiska lokalnego w socjalizacji i kulturalizacji młodego pokolenia. Zakłada, że udział w różnorodnych lokalnych działaniach buduje świadomość przynależności do określonej grupy, określonego terytorium. Prezentuje wyniki szerszych badań studentów pedagogiki, przyszłych nauczycieli dotyczących poczucia wspólnotowości. Koncentruje się na: identyfikacji lokalnej, stosunku do wartości kulturowych, miejsca oraz aktywności społecznej. W konkluzji stwierdza, że praca edukacyjna, wychowawcza nauczyciela jest zadaniem związanym z misją zorientowaną aksjologicznie, czyli na kształtowanie wartości i postaw, której odniesieniem powinny być wartości kulturowe miejsca – kultura lokalna, ale również misją zorientowaną na kształtowanie nowych wzorów zaangażowania społecznego, obywatelskiego.
    The authoress emphasizes the role of the local environment in socialization and culturalization of the young generation. What she assumes is that participation in various local activities builds the awareness of belonging to a particular group and a particular territory. The research results are presented of extensive studies of pedagogy students (future teachers) on the feeling of community.The focus is on: local identification, the attitude to cultural values, the place and social activity. The conclusion comprises the statement that the teacher’s educational work is a task associated with axiologically oriented mission – in other words, oriented towards shaping the values and attitudes which refer to cultural values of the place (local culture). However, this task should be also associated with the mission oriented towards shaping new patterns of social and civil engagement.

    Współcześnie stosunek jednostki do zajmowanej przestrzeni można przedstawić w postaci dwóch opozycyjnych stanowisk. Pierwsze wskazuje na progresywny proces uniezależniania się człowieka od miejsca urodzenia i miejsca zamieszkania, czego konsekwencją jest malejące przywiązanie i utrata lokalnej tożsamości. Drugie, przeciwne stanowisko, akcentuje proces rosnącego zainteresowania ideą lokalizmu oraz lokalnymi partykularyzmami. Ta rozbieżność stanowisk stała się główną inspiracją dla autorów prezentowanego artykułu. Głównym jego celem jest ukazanie poziomu i głównych determinant lokalnej identyfikacji mieszkańców wybranych miast poprzemysłowych. Podstawą prezentowanych rozważań są badania reprezentatywne, zrealizowane w miastach Europy Środkowej i Wschodniej oraz w Turcji. Wyniki przeprowadzonych analiz zmierzają do odpowiedzi na pytanie, która kategoria zmiennych: zakorzenienie terytorialne czy jakość życia i zamieszkiwania, ma największy wpływ na kształtowanie identyfikacji mieszkańców z miastem? W opracowaniu przyjęto założenie, iż wpływ „klasycznych” uwarunkowań przywiązania do miejsca, takich jak zakorzenienie terytorialne, traci na znaczeniu wobec rosnącego znaczenia jakości życia i oceny warunków zamieszkiwania. Zaprezentowane w artykule wyniki badań potwierdzają tak sformułowaną hipotezę.
    Nowadays the attitude of the individual to occupied space might be presented in two opposing ways. The first indicates the progressive process of making man independent form place of birth and place of residence. It displays in decreasing level of place attachment and local identities. The second, opposite position indicates the increasing process of interest in localism, local affairs, local particularities and so on. The opposing thesis became the main inspiration for the authors of this article. The main goal of the article is to depict the level of inhabitants local identification with post-industrial cities and to identify its main determinants. The basis of the presented in the article issues are representative surveys conducted in cities of Central and Eastern Europe as well in Turkey. The results of the data analysis enabled the researchers to answer one of the main questions: which category of variables (rootedness or quality of life and municipal management) has the greatest influence on shaping the place attachment. It should be noted, that it was assumed that the impact of “traditional” and “classic” determinants of place attachment such as: rootedness forgoes its importance. On the other hand, it was assumed that such factor as the quality of life gains importance in the process of shaping residents place identity. Presented in the article results confirmed this hypothesis and proved greater importance of quality of life in shaping the place attachment.

    Knowledge of the behavior of the electorate has both its social context, as well as economic. It identifies the social interaction on the behavior of politicians and the effects of their management, moreover reveals the motivations and determines of political sensitivity, the degree of social disapproval and indifference. Rationalize the cost of election campaigns, influences the electoral strategies and the consequent publicity and promotion mechanisms. It also affects the way services are involved in the electoral processes of individuals and businesses. It has a number of theoretical ways of using its wide but especially a practical context. The municipal elections which are the subject of growing interest are identified in the broader electoral context, the connection with other acts of election: elections to the parliament, the European Union and in the end of the presidential elections. The media of social life more and more influence on the behavior of voters, receiving daily spectacle of self-presentation, permanent verbalization of ideas and references to public opinion polls. Voter is willed or not to participate. This causes the increasing consistency of its behavior in the different types of elections.
