    It is not easy to properly aesimate the value of interpolacionism methodology. On the one hand, it caused a great diffidence among romanists analyzing Roman law sources. On the other, however, its subtility even nowadays remains respect- able. Authors of texts in the collection of papers entitled “Gradenwitz, Riccobono und die Entwicklung der Interpolationenkritik” tried to explore that topic with presenting the careers of specific professors: German Otto Gradenwitz and Italian Salvatore Riccobono. The first one is known as the pioneer of interpolacionism with his monography “Interpolationen in den Pandekten” from 1889. The second was inspired by the new method, but then raised its profound criticism, followed by many other Roman law scholars. Some texts focus instead on the reception of interpolacionism among romanists of specific countries, such as Spain or Great Britain. Suprisingly France was ommitted, not to even mention Poland, Czechia or Hungary. The same concerns important scholars that were adherents of inter- polacionism (I. Alibrandi, F. Eisele, E. Albertario)

    Algorytm funkcji skrótu MD5 to jeden z najpopularniejszych sposobów uzyskania skrótu wiadomości. Otrzymane skróty mogą służyć jako podpisy cyfrowe plików lub ciągów znaków. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia implementację tego algorytmu w języku C++. Można tu znaleźć opis klasy, która może później posłużyć jako biblioteka do dowolnego programu napisanego w tym języku.
    Message-Digest algorithm 5 is one of the most popular ways to get the message digest. Received shortcuts can be used as digital signatures of files or strings. This paper contains the implementation of this algorithm in C++ programming language. You can find there the description of the class, which can serve as a library in different programs written in C++.

    This article is a contribution to show the evolution of the legal regulation of donations in favor of concubine in the legislation of Justinian. It contains an overview of all the extracts from Justinian’s Digest relating to donations in favor of concubine made by legal acts inter vivos and mortis causa. Analysis carried out on particular extracts reveals that apart from indicating the possibility of donations being made there is no mention of restrictions on their property values, and none of the fragments contained in the Digest refer either to testamentary inheritance, or intestate inheritance by a concubine after the deceased partner. Legal solutions approved in the Digest show that Justinian did not intend to carry on a restrictive policy towards concubinage, that characterized especially the legislation of Constantine the Great, but treated it positively and fully rationally.

    Among the sources of Roman jurisprudence comparatively little place is taken by epigraphic texts. Apart from several exceptions (e.g. Ulpian, Salvius Julianus), there are no epigraphic sources, mostly sepulchral inscriptions, related to lawyers whose work provided the foundation for Justinian’s Digest. Small inscriptions are found in the provinces, where lawyers were probably held in deeper reverence by local communities. Some inscriptions highlight state positions occupied by a given jurist, rather than his scientific achievement (e.g. Pactumeius Clemens). It seems that the greatest monument to classical jurists was set up by Emperor Justinian as he quoted fragments of their writings along with the name of the jurist and the title of the work from which the excerpt was taken. Although little can be learned about them from epigraphic texts and their tombstones no longer exist, their work eventuated in monuments more permanent than those made of stone or bronze – legal thought which turned into the foundation of modern dogmatics of private law and European legal culture.
    Wśród źródeł poznania rzymskiej jurysprudencji stosunkowo niewiele miejsca zajmują teksty epigraficzne. Poza kilkoma wyjątkami (np. Ulpian, Salvius Julianus) brakuje źródeł epigraficznych, zwłaszcza inskrypcji nagrobkowych, odnoszących się do uczonych prawników, których dzieła stały się podstawą opracowania justyniańskich Digestów. Liczniejsze są niewielkie inskrypcje nagrobkowe z terenów prowincji, gdzie funkcja prawnika miała zapewne większe znaczenie wśród lokalnej społeczności. Niekiedy inskrypcje poświęcają więcej miejsca funkcjom państwowym jurysty niż jego twórczości naukowej. W rezultacie można stwierdzić, że największy pomnik wystawił jurystom klasycznym sam cesarza Justynian, przejmując fragmenty ich pism z podaniem nazwiska jurysty i tytułu dzieła, z którego dany fragment został zaczerpnięty. Chociaż niewiele wiemy o nich z tekstów epigraficznych i nie zachowały się ich kamienie nagrobne, to przez swoje dzieła pozostawili jednak po sobie pomniki trwalsze od kamienia i spiżu – myśl prawniczą, która stała się fundamentem nowożytnej dogmatyki prawa prywatnego i podstawą europejskiej kultury prawnej.

    Artykuł jest próbą podsumowania doświadczeń związanych z tworzeniem ośmiotomowej antologii tekstów publicystycznych pochodzących z pisma polskich pozytywistów − „Przeglądu Tygodniowego” („Przegląd Tygodniowy” 1866−1876. Teksty, analizy, komentarze). W latach 1866−1876 stał się on trybuną postępowej inteligencji, której celem była modernizacja kultury polskiej i życia społecznego. W tekście wyróżniono trzy typy antologii piśmiennictwa pozytywistycznego: antologie problemowe, antologie całości i antologie specjalistyczne i na tym tle przedstawiono czwarty typ − antologię-panoramę. Został także zaprezentowany szczegółowy zestaw dylematów, które musi rozstrzygnąć każdy autor antologii tekstów z tej epoki (1864−1918).
    The aim of this article is to present the experience of the process of compiling an eight-volume anthology based on journalistic texts that were selected from the texts published in Przegląd Tygodniowy („Przegląd Tygodniowy” 1866−1876. Teksty, analizy, komentarze [“‘The Weekly Digest’ 1866−1876. Articles. Reviews. Comments”]), a journal where Polish positivists expressed their views and opinions. In the period of 1866−1876 the journal represented the voice of progressive intellectualists, whose aim was to reform Polish culture and social life. This article highlights three types of anthologies popular in positivist writing: anthologies focusing on a problem, or one particular aspect, and anthologies of the whole; and the three above become the background for the fourth one − an overview anthology. What is more, the article points at a wide range of dilemmas the compiler needs to face when compiling an anthology that comprises of the texts of the epoch that falls between 1864 and 1918.

    Standards, including those relating to concrete constructions, are a mark of their times. They reflect our state of knowledge and ways of thinking about design and their safety. By tracing the changes in regulations concerning structural standards we can make an analysis of progress in the formulation of computational models, in computation techniques and methods, in structural materials and design, and in construction methods.

    Publikacja jest próbą analizy bezpieczeństwa funkcji skrótów takich jak MD5 czy SHA-1. Omówione zostały podsta-wowe właściwości i wymagania stawiane przed takimi funkcjami. Artykuł przechodzi kolejno przez poszczególne metody łamania skrótów, zaczynając od prymitywnych metod typu brute-force, poprzez tablice Hellmana oraz ich optymalizację, opartą na punktach wyróżnionych Rivesta, a skończywszy na tablicach tęczowych. Pokazana została ewolucja metod kryptoanalitycznych, które korzystają z ogromnej mocy obliczeniowej komputerów, nie wykorzystując przy tym słabości konkretnych funkcji skrótu. W artykule poruszone zostały praktyczne zagadnienia implementacyjne oraz wskazano na pewne ograniczenia wyżej wymienionych metod kryptoanalizy. Zaprezentowano również rzeczywiste pomiary skuteczności omówionych wyżej metod. Publikacja opisuje również kolizje jako zjawisko niepożądane i w znacznym stopniu utrudniające kryptoanalizę. W publikacji rozdzielone zostały systemy i algorytmy odporne na opisane ataki, takie jak podpis cyfrowy oraz części systemu podatne na atak z wykorzystaniem tablic tęczowych, takie jak krótkie hasła, które w chwili obecnej są jeszcze wykorzystywane. Na koniec podano praktyczną metodę zabezpieczania się przed możliwymi atakami, tzw. "solenie" haseł. Metody tej nie da się niestety dynamicznie włączyć w istniejących systemach. Wymaga ona konkretnej implementacji przez producenta oprogramowania.
    This article is the analysis of the message digest functions' security, such as MD5 or SHA-I. Ali basie, common properties and requirements for message digest functions are described in this article. This publication presents the whole path of cryptanalytic method's evolution, beginning from simple methods like brute-force, going through the Hellman's tables and optimization based on distinguished points, described by Rivest and finishing on the rainbow tables. It is shown the evolution path of methods which uses huge computer's power, not some bugs or vulnerabilities in specific functions. This article contains some practice advices, describes potential implementation problems and shows some disadvantages of described cryptanalytic methods. Some, simple real examples are presented and the results of real measurements are contained in this article. One of the parts describes collisions in message digest functions and shows how hard can be cryptanalytic process with many collisions. Author distinguished safe parts of the system or algorithm (like digital signature) and rulnerable parts (like passwords) which are still used. The practical and very safe method (salt passwords) was described at the end of the article. Salt passwords require specific implementation by software developers. Unfortunately, this method cannot be enabled in easy way in existing system.
