The article is an interpretation of the traditional figure of the hermeneutic circle made from the perspective of John D. Caputo’s radical hermeneutics. It begins with a recapitulation of the most important modern positions on the hermeneutic circle, which postmodern hermeneutics radicalizes, noting the impossibility of its closure or fulfillment. Movement in the postmodern hermeneutic circle takes place not between the parts and the whole, but only between the different parts. Thus, one might say that this circle is twisted, and this has a dual meaning. It evokes Jacques Derrida’s interpretation of a phrase from Hamlet, “time is out of joint”, but it also plays with the meaning of the twist, which can be understood as a Verwindung: the impossibility of the transgression beyond modern hermeneutics.

Value structure in late childhoodRecent years witnessed an increasing number of studies on adolescents’ and children’s values and value structures that were conceptually based on Schwartz’s (1992) theoretical model. Because of difficulties with the application of established questionnaires to research values among younger and younger persons, efforts were made to create instruments that are suited to adolescents’ and children’s cognitive-developmental background. In this study, 389 children who were between 7 and 12 years old completed one of these recently developed instruments: the Polish adaptation of the Picture-Based Value Survey for Children (PBVS-C), Döring (Döring, Blauensteiner, Aryus, Drögekamp, Bilsky, in press). We examined the presence of Schwartz’s circular structure of values with a theory-based (weakly-confi rmatory) multidimensional scaling (MDS) approach. To further explore potential developmental differences, we conducted additional analyses in two age groups: (1) younger children aged 7 to 9 years (N = 207, grades 1–3), and (2) older children aged 10 to 12 years (N = 182; grades 4–6). Differentiated value structures that were organized in Schwartz’s two basic dimensions (selfenhancement versus self-transcendence, and openness to change versus conservation) emerged in the whole sample and in each of the two age groups. Moreover, we found significant differences in structural complexity between both age groups: as compared to the younger children, the older children’s value structures were more differentiated and closer to the theoretical prototype.

The Uppsala School in philosophy and the Vienna Circle are prima facie similar currents in contemporary philosophy. Both reject metaphysics, claim that reality is a spatio‑temporal realm and adhere to noncognitivism in terms of values. However, justifications of these assumptions are quite different. In the following article we reconstruct main theses of both mentioned currents and then we indicate their impact on one of the major jurisprudential movements, namely Scandinavian Legal Realism. We focus on Alf Ross’ legal philosophy, as it was an attempt to accommodate both: the philosophy of the Uppsala School and of the Vienna Circle (while other Scandinavian realists referred exclusively to Uppsala philosophy). We trace those two sources of inspiration in Ross’ theory of legal validity and of legal concepts.

The article presents the results of the trial excavations carried out in 2016 at the fortified settlement in Chotyniec, Jarosław district. It is an object which has been known and mentioned in archaeological literature for a long, but without its precise chronological affiliation, due to the lack of excavations. However, it was most often combined with the Middle Ages. The conducted research requires significant adjustments. All the sources and contextual records allow us to link this large fortified settlement in Chotyniec with the Early Iron Age and the forest steppe variant of the Scythian cultural circle. This unique site will be researched in the next excavation seasons.

Opis:
This article presents seemingly short, nevertheless, interesting task frora piane geometry. It consists in determining circles tangential to two intersecting lines and a circle included between them. It seems to be a very interesting fact in exact sciences that many different ways of reasoning can lead to one aim and this is what appears to be the most interesting issue in the presented solution. Three ways of solving the problem have been presented.

Kazimierz Świegocki’s Blues o Wielkim Ptaku from point of view of hermeneutic reading In this article I presented a general assumption of hermeneutics as a theory of literature and a research attitude. I used its various elements in my interpretation of the poem Blues o Wielkim Ptaku of the modern Polish poet, Kazimierz Świegocki. I put the general hypothesis of interpretation and then I verified it by examining the specific elements of the text. I discussed the role of the title and date of creation, the way of speaker’s creation and the lyrical hero, the importance of symbolism and shape of the world presented. I described this poem as referring to issues of cosmogony, ontology, metaphysics and hermeneutics as explaining the order of the universe.

Circle dances are observed in various cultures and times. The paper indicates certain social, political and situational contexts of the phenomenon of communal circle dances in remote territories: Catalonia, Balcans, Sakha (Yakutia), Buriatya and USA. The author offers an interpretation of chosen cases in terms of Victor Turner’s concept of communitas. During the communal dances – sardana, corlu mari, yokhor, osuokhai and ghost dance – the idea of community, equality and unity is dominating over social structure divisions and resulting in forming the psychological and social communitas. This is why all analysed circle dances arise in the context of serious menace and destruction of ethnic integrity. Being together in a very literal sense through physical closeness during the same motoric behaviours, common singing produces feeling of power and unifications, reinforcing social identity and affirmation to a group. Circle dances are analysed in association with attempts to preserve group cultural and oft en even biological integrity.

Artykuł omawia 15 tabernakulów barokowych zachowanych w granicach obecnej Polski. Z uwagi na zróżnicowanie konstrukcyjne w przedstawionym zespole wyszczególniono dwie grupy. Do pierwszej należą tabernakula składające się ze stelażu drewnianego w całości obłożonego blachą srebrną albo blachą z innego metalu. W skład drugiej grupy wchodzą tabernakula złożone z konstrukcji drewnianej i w jednym przypadku kamiennej, przystosowanej do ekspozycji zewnętrznej, dekorowanej metalowymi plakietami i ornamentem. Zaprezentowane tabernakula wykonane są w formie małej architektury, nawiązującej kształtem do budowli sakralnych i występują w dwóch typach. Pierwszy typ reprezentują tabernakula jednokondygnacyjne i jednoosiowe zawierające tylko repositorium, czyli miejsce na przechowywanie rezerwy eucharystycznej. Do drugiego typu należą realizacje dwukondygnacyjne, z których dolna mieści repositorium, a górna expositorium, czyli tron wystawienia dla Najświętszego Sak ramentu. Poza nabożeństwami z wystawieniem Świętej Hostii w miejscu tym ustawiano krzyż. Wersje rozbudowane wszerz wyróżniają się okazałymi przęsłami bocznymi bogato zdobionymi, przypominającymi fasady świątyń bądź nastaw ołtarzowych. Programy ikonografi czne tabernakulów ze względu na ich funkcje koncentrują się wokół tajemnicy Eucharystii. W znaczeniowym przesłaniu tabernakula odzwierciedlają nowy grób Pański, Tron Łaski, Arkę Przymierza, a także Namiot Spotkania. W okresie wzmożonego kwestionowania doktryny o obecności Chrystusa pod postacią konsekrowanego chleba, tabernakula pełniły funkcję znaku wiary Kościoła rzymskokatolickiego w prawdziwą, realną i substancjalną obecność Chrystusa w Sakramencie Eucharystii.
The article describes fi fteen tabernacles in the Baroque style, preserved in the area of Poland. Owing to the constructive diversity in the presented group, two separate categories were selected. The fi rst one is comprised of tabernacles having a wooded framework totally covered with a silver plate or a plate created of any other metal. The second category includes tabernacles constructed on the base of a wooded framework, and only in one case with the usage of a stony basement, adjusted to the exposition and decorated with metal plaques and ornaments. The presented tabernacles are created as a form of minor architecture, referring in their shape to sacral buildings, and they exist as two different types. The fi rst type is represented by one-storey and one-axis tabernacles containing only the repositorium, which is a place used in storage of the Eucharistic reserves. The second type is comprised of two-storey constructions, where the bottom one functions as the repositorium, and the top one is the expositorium, functioning as the exposition throne for the Holy Sacrament. Apart from the liturgies of the exposition of the Holy Sacrament, the cross is also presented in this place. The types which are built breadthways are distinguished by the copiously decorated side bays, resembling the facades of the temples or the altar bases. Iconographic programs of tabernacles, taking into consideration their functions, concentrate on the secret of meaning of the Eucharist. In the semantic message tabernacles refl ect the new grave of God, the Grace Throne, the Ark of the Covenant, and also the Tent of Meeting. In times of intensive questioning of the doctrine of Christ’s presence in the consecrated bread, tabernacles played the role of the sign of the Roman Catholic faith in the real, true and substantial presence of Christ in the Eucharistic Sacrament.

The article presents new radiocarbon determinations obtained for collective graves from the Trzciniec cultural circle (TCC) in Central Poland. The dated graves were associated with the Konstantynów group and belong to the late phase of the TCC. As a result of the research carried out on this form of burial, it was possible to distinguish two types of graves and locate their concentrations in Central Poland in the zone where the materials of the Konstantynów group occur. The established dates, together with the technological and stylistic analysis of ceramic materials, make it possible to determine two time horizons in the late phase of the Trzciniec culture circle.

Albert Hesse was one of the most eminent German professors of economic law and statistics. He was educated at the University Hale-Wittenberg, but spent most of his life, as a researcher in Wroclaw (1921–1945). In the period of Weimar Republic, he became one of the most prominent specialists, in his fields of research. He was engaged in various activities, connect ed with international organisations and on the forum of the League of Nations. What is more, he was also, initially, a worker, and then the co-director of East Europe Institute in Wroclaw, though in 1933, after the Nazis had taken over the power, he lost this position. The time of the Third Reich, was the beginning of Hesse’s end as a researcher as threads of the national socialist ideology appeared more and more often in his academic work, which contributed to a decline in his prestige. Nonetheless, there was no solid evidence of his possible harmfulness to anybody, which allowed him to continue teaching in the postwar Germany.
