    Opis:
    The article is devoted to the attitude of writers from the GDR and the FRG to the construction and the fall of the Berlin Wall. The reactions in the RFG were varied, but there prevailed protest and indignation with the situation, whereas the GDR writers mostly supported the action of the authorities. Reactions to the fall of the Wall in 1989 were almost completely opposite: there were the writers from the GDR who responded first and protested against the reunification of Germany, receiving some unexpected support from the FRG writers – former critics of the construction of the Wall. This position should be, among others, explained by the popularity of the idea of the „third way“ among the intellectuals from both German countries, as well as by the attachment to the system of those writers who remained in the GDR until 1989.

    For obvious reasons, literary translation is only marginally present in the general teaching of translation at university level. The interest of both teachers and students naturally focuses on texts of everyday use. However, the specific nature of poetic works, first of all their multidimensionality, makes them an excellent material to sensitise the future translator to diverse linguistic, intertextual and culture-related phenomena which, in a less pronounced form, also occur in non-literary texts. Thus, this article is intended as a plea for the inclusion of poetry in translation teaching.

    W artykule zaproponowano spojrzenie na mur berliński przez pryzmat wybranych filmów fabularnych i dokumentalnych odnoszących się do wydarzeń roku 1989. Punktem wyjścia rozważań jest założenie, że wymiar medialny był szczególnie istotny na końcowym etapie historii muru berlińskiego. Telewizja odegrała ważną rolę między innymi w dokumentowaniu kolejnych etapów przełomu politycznego roku 1989, co odzwierciedlone zostało w analizowanych filmach. Sposoby prezentowania w nich telewizyjnego medium w kontekście upadku muru berlińskiego nie tylko odnoszą się do historycznych okoliczności, w jakich to medium funkcjonowało, lecz także mają symboliczny potencjał, pozwalają bowiem również w murze dostrzec swoiste medium określające niezwykły charakter granicy niemiecko-niemieckiej.
    In this article, Marta Brzezińska-Pająk looks at the Berlin Wall through the prism of selected feature films and documentaries relating to the events of 1989. The starting point of her considerations is the assumption that the media dimension was particularly important at the final stage of the history of the Berlin Wall. Television played an important role, among other things, in documenting the steps leading to the political breakthrough of 1989, as reflected in the films analyzed by Brzezińska-Pająk. The ways in which they present the medium of the television in the context of the fall of the Berlin Wall not only relate to the historical circumstances in which this medium functioned, but also have a symbolic potential in that they allow us to see in this wall a medium of sorts which defined the unusual nature of the German-German border.

    Artykuł analizuje film Bartosza Konopki Królik po berlińsku (2009), który autorka odczytuje jako splot historii ludzkiej i nie-ludzkiej. W tekście zostaje podjęta kwestia potencjału sztuki filmowej w tworzeniu nieantropocentrycznych sposobów widzenia świata. Rozważania przedstawione w artykule odnoszą się do transdyscyplinarnych studiów nad zwierzętami, a szczególnie do subdyscypliny historii, jaką jest historia zwierząt. Przedstawione w filmie wydarzenia związane z powstaniem i upadkiem Muru Berlińskiego, widziane oczami królików, pozwalają autorce na przeprowadzenie interpretacji obrazu z perspektywy posthumanistycznej, akcentującej znaczenie filmowych historii w poszukiwaniu nowych sposobów postrzegania świata, wolnych od ego- i antropocentryzmu.
    The article presents an analysis of Bartosz Konopka’s movie Rabbit à la Berlin (2009), which is interpreted by the author as an manifestation of the entanglement of human and non-human narratives. The text addresses the problem of the potential of film art for creating non-anthropocentric ways of seeing the world. The considerations refer to transdisciplinary animal studies, particularly to animal history as a subfield of history. The events related to the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall, as seen through the eyes of rabbits, allow the author to interpret the picture from a post-humanist perspective, emphasizing the significance of the film storytelling in the search for new ways of perceiving the world, free from human ego- and anthropocentrism.

    Projektowanie i budowa głębokich wykopów są obecnie w Polsce, ale też i na świecie nieodłącznym elementem budownictwa na terenach zurbanizowanych, gdzie brak miejsca na powierzchni terenu zmusza inwestorów do poszukiwania powierzchni biurowych czy mieszkalnych w coraz wyższych budynkach z coraz głębszymi kondygnacjami podziemnymi. W śródmiejskich i zabytkowych dzielnicach miast często buduje się tzw. plomby w miejscach zrujnowanych podczas wojny kamienic lub wewnątrz zachowanych ze względów konserwatorskich elewacji.
    The paper discusses the issues of the construction of the deep excavation in urban areas, highly urbanized. The most commonly used types of structures of deep excavations walls are presented as well as methods of construction. The walls structures are divided according to the criterion of impact on surrounding buildings as stiff or flexible. The methodsfor the construction of deep excavations in terms of the safety of the works and impact on adjacent buildings, the ground surface and the environment are discussed. The examples of interaction between the structures built in deep excavations and existing underground and surface infrastructure are given.

    The subject of the present paper is the evaluation of application of the rule in dubio pro reo in one of the so-called Border Guard Cases (Mauerschützenprozesse), known as the case of Peter Fechter. The question posed in the paper is, whether under circumstances of the lack of sufficient evidence, the application of the rule in dubio pro reo to some of the accused ones can result in assuming the rule in dubio contra reo (which is contradictory to the principles of criminal justice) against other accused in the same process. The main thesis of the paper is that the assumption of the rule in dubio contra reo is unacceptable on the ground of the principles of fair judicial proceeding. Such a rule violates principles of procedural and substantive justice and in consequence it also violates personal rights. In the analyzed case, under circumstances of the death of one of the accused border guards, the application of the rule damaged unlawfully the good name of the deceased.

    Artykuł stanowi analizę skandalu, jaki w niemieckiej sferze publicznej wywołała interwencja Centrum Politycznego Piękna zatytułowana Pierwszy upadek europejskiego muru (2014). Kampania przygotowana tuż przed dwudziestą piątą rocznicą upadku muru berlińskiego miała na celu obnażenie hipokryzji niemieckich polityków, którzy jednocześnie świętują likwidację starych granic i współfinansują powstawanie nowych. Autorka przedstawia przebieg tej artywistycznej akcji i analizuje jej negatywną recepcję, w szczególności komentarze grupy odbiorczej, którą określa mianem publiczności zniesmaczonej. W analizie wykorzystano koncepcje pamięci rywalizacyjnej i wielokierunkowej (Michael Rothberg), teorię afektów (Sara Ahmed) i teorię wstrętu (Winfried Menninghaus), by pokazać, w jaki sposób ukonstytuowała się publiczność deprecjonująca projekt za pomocą kategorii smaku i uruchamiająca różne mechanizmy obronne służące blokowaniu dyskusji nad politycznymi problemami, na które zwrócili uwagę opinii publicznej artyści.
    This article analyzes the scandal caused in the German public sphere by the Center for Political Beauty’s intervention The First Fall of the European Wall (2014). Prepared just before the twenty-fifth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the campaign aimed to expose the hypocrisy of German politicians, who celebrated the dismantling of old borders and at the same time co-financed the emergence of new ones. The author presents the course of this artivist action and analyzes its negative reception, focusing on comments from a group of recipients which she categorizes as “disgusted audience.” The analysis draws on the concepts of competitive and multidirectional memory (Michael Rothberg), affect theory (Sara Ahmed), and theory of disgust (Winfried Menninghaus) to show how an audience constituted itself to depreciate the project based on the category of taste and to activate various defense mechanisms blocking the discussion about political issues brought to public attention by the artists.

    The year of the fall of the Berlin Wall is an important turning point in the history of the 20th century Europe. It symbolises the erosion of the communist system, which in Poland had began thirteen years earlier – with breaking the omnipotence of censorship by the independent self-publishing. When in 1989 the Opposition came to power, they changed both the economic and political system, which in turn changed the whole Polish culture – the book market, publishers’ position, function of the magazines, and even writers’ status. The readers’ first reaction was a sudden increase of interest in the emigrant, gulag, and underground literature, however, not even a decade passed, when that interest started fading. Then came the second wave: popular literature (romances, crime stories, thrillers, speculative fiction). Also, there were changes in the literary life: the dominant role of the capital city during the Polish People’s Republic had been undermined by local initiatives (including art zines, publishing houses in the provinces), “the headquarters’” position was nevertheless maintained by the state television and the authority of the Nike Literary Award, which had been created in 1996. Poetry was dominated by “the old poets” (Cz. Miłosz, T. Różewicz, Z. Herbert, W. Szymborska), who, despite nearing the ends of their lives, were in an exceptionally good literary shape. They were accompanied by the authors of The New Wave, with whom the poets of “BruLion” group soon waged war. In prose, the writers born around 1960, who are well-known today in Europe (e.g. O. Tokarczuk), gained a strong position. The world recognition was also won over by the masters of the Polish reportage (e.g. R. Kapuściński, H. Krall) and their pupils (W. Tochman, W. Jagielski, M. Szczygieł).

    W artykule opisano znane i stosowane metody obliczania parcia gruntu na opinkę wraz z jej doborem. Ponadto poddano analizie zjawisko przesklepienia gruntu powstające za opinką opisywane szeroko w literaturze naukowej według metod proponowanych między innymi przez Perko, Vermeer, Li, Macnab, Hosseinian. Wyniki obliczeń parcia gruntu działającego na opinkę wykonanych wg różnych autorów porównano z przeprowadzonymi badaniami terenowymi na obiekcie w skali rzeczywistej przeprowadzonymi przez Koprasa.
    The article describes well known and used methods of calculating the earth pressure acting on the lagging together with its selection. In addition the Article describes arching effects developed behind the lagging, widely described in the scientific literature, according to the methods proposed, among others, by Perko, Vermeer, Li, Macnab, Hosseinian. The calculation results of the earth pressure acting on the lagging according to various authors were compared with the field research carried out on the object on the real scale carried out by Kopras.
