    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie badań w działaniu ujętych jako metoda, za pomocą której możliwe jest dokonanie zmian w określonym środowisku przy jednoczesnej refleksji nad własną praktyką. W artykule, oprócz krótkiego wstępu, w którym w sposób ogólny przedstawione zostają teoretyczne zagadnienia związane z definiowaniem oraz kształtowaniem się badań w działaniu, zaprezentowane zostało studium przypadku projektu zakładającego realizację badań w działaniu. Organizatorami i uczestnikami inicjatywy były osoby związane z Katedrą Etnologii i Antropologii Kulturowej Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego oraz osoby należące do stowarzyszenia ‘Lenkų Studentų Klubas Lietuvoje’.
    The article focuses on action research – a method that aims at changing a particular region, while allowing ethnographers to reflect on their own daily practices. The article presents theoretical issues related to the action research, as well as a case study: an action research project. The organizers and participants of the initiative were associated with the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Wroclaw and the ‘Lenkų Studentų Klubas Lietuvoje’ organization.

    The article presents selected forms of the practical use of anthropology. The main aim of text is not an attempt at a complete presentation of practical anthropology. Fragmentation of the description is testimony to the fact that there have been selected only two categories belonging to the broad context of practical anthropology: applied anthropology and the project which extend their range beyond academic discourse. However, the character of anthropology is used to achieve their objectives. The publication is primary concerned with the status of the practical form of anthropology in anthropological discourse, its thematic and methodical range. Attention has been devoted to the historical conditions of the selected forms of anthropology.

    The author in his text dedicated to action research made in the Vilnius region, Lithuania (a project realized by undergraduate students, PhD students, and one of the employees of the Chair of Ethnology and Anthropology University of Wrocław and a Lithuanian partner), presents an approach of engaged anthropology, basing on the characteristics important for it: cooperation, dialogism, openness, voluntariness. The paper presents the main features of the methodology of action research and further – the objectives and results of the research. It describes the cooperation between the academic anthropologists and non-professionals, moreover – the reflections on fieldwork and the problems that researcher has to cope with.

    The article contains an analysis of woven fascines located under the northern part of the early-medieval defensive banks on Ostrów Tumski in Poznan. The structures, similar to the contemporary timber frame structures, had the task of accumulating the material (sand) carried by the river along the line of the planned fortifications. The author analysed woven fascines located under the northern piece of the defensive banks of the Poznan stronghold (registered at the 5 Posadzego site) and identified them as remains of hydro-technical infrastructure. The structures, similar to the contemporary timber frame structures, had the task of accumulating the material (sand) carried by the river along the line of the planned defensive banks. Similar structures had been discovered in the northern part of the 17 Ostrów Tumski site yet their function was not identified. The author also presents the chronology of the specific phases of the bank construction (based on the results of tree-ring-dating) and structure elements (pilots, starlings, the bank’s turn, stone founda¬tions). This is also an indication of an intended constructing the Poznan cathedral as the possible reason for extending the range of the fortifications around 980.

    W rozdziale opisano podjęte próby wykorzystania amoniaku jako surowca energetycznego. Podano genezę nazwy amoniak. Opisano jego strukturę i dotychczasowe sposoby wykorzystania, wskazując na znaczącą rolę wodoru – także w cząsteczkach wody, metanu czy innych węglowodorów. Autorzy nawiązują do zmienionej japońskiej polityki energetycznej oraz mapy drogowej ,w której wodór, ale przede wszystkim amoniak, mają podstawową do spełnienia rolę. Pokazują rolę wodoru i produktów wodoropochodnych w wytwarzaniu energii. Japońska Mapa drogowa określa drogę dojścia do zero emisyjności gospodarki w perspektywie 2050 r. Wskazano także na bolączki infrastruktury przesyłowej i magazynowania wodoru wobec znacznie łatwiejszej logistyce dla amoniaku. Zaznaczono możliwą do wypełnienia rolę grafenu jako materiału do magazynowania wodoru. Opisano szanse i wyzwania stojące przed rozwojem transgranicznego rynku „zielonego” wodoru w UE. Jednocześnie pokazano podobieństwo w celu osiągnięcia neutralności klimatycznej Europy do 2050, której główne cele to brak emisji netto gazów cieplarnianych do atmosfery oraz doprowadzenie do oddzielenia wzrostu ekonomicznego od zasobów. Rola wodoru w założeniach tej polityki klimatycznej wydaje się nie do przecenienia. Ma on przede wszystkim zastąpić paliwa kopalne w tych sektorach, których nie da się w pełni zelektryfikować oraz pozwolić na magazynowanie energii elektrycznej wytworzonej z OZE w okresie nadpodaży.
    The chapter describes the attempts to use ammonia as an energy raw material. The origin of the name ammonia is given. Its structure and current methods of use have been described, indicating the significant role of hydrogen – also in water, methane and other hydrocarbons. The authors refer to the revised Japanese energy policy and the roadmap in which hydrogen, but above all ammonia, have a fundamental role to play. They show the role of hydrogen and hydrocarbon products in energy production. The Japanese roadmap outlines the path to a zero-carbon economy by 2050. It also points to the disadvantages of hydrogen transmission and storage infrastructure in the face of much easier logistics for ammonia. The possible role of graphene as a material for hydrogen storage is marked. The opportunities and challenges facing the development of the cross-border „green” hydrogen market in the EU are described. And the similarity is shown with the aim of achieving Europe’s climate neutrality by 2050, the main goals of which are no net emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere and a decoupling of economic growth from resources. The role of hydrogen in the assumptions of this climate policy cannot be overestimated. It is primarily intended to replace fossil fuels in those sectors that cannot be fully electrified and allow the storage of electricity generated from RES in the period of oversupply.

    Przedstawiono model optymalizacji sekwencji wydobycia węgla brunatnego z uwzględnieniem niepewności wynikającej z niedostatków rozpoznania złoża. Przedstawiono algorytm optymalizacyjny oparty o kryteria ilości wydobytego węgla oraz jego jakości. Omówiono warunki brzegowe wynikające ze specyfiki eksploatacji węgla brunatnego w systemie ciągłym. Metoda została zweryfikowany na modelu rzeczywistej kopalni w środkowych Niemczech. Przedstawiono wyniki testu metody z uwzględnieniem wykorzystania czasu pracy koparek oraz osiągnięcia założonych celów eksploatacyjnych. Problem omówiony w artykule jest wybranym elementem projektu RTRO-Coal współfinansowanego ze środków UE w latach 2013-2017. W Raporcie końcowym opublikowanym w wydawnictwie Komisji Europejskiej przedstawiono wszystkie opracowane elementy projektu RTRO-Coal (Buxton i in. 2019).
    The model of optimization of lignite mining sequences is presented, taking into account the uncertainty resulting from deficiencies in the identification of the deposit. An optimization algorithm based on the criteria for the quantity of coal extracted and its quality has been presented. The boundary conditions resulting from the specificity of brown coal mining in the continuous mining system are discussed. The method was verified on the model of a real mine in central Germany. The results of the test of the method are presented, taking into account the use of working time of excavators and the achievement of the assumed exploitation goals. The problem discussed in the paper is one selected part of the RTRO-Coal project co-financed from EU funds in 2013-2017. The final report published in the European Commission’s Publication Office presents all elaborated elements of the project RTRO-Coal (Buxton et al. 2019).
