    Opis:
    A smartphone in the German classroom A smartphone, being a personal student’s device with great educational potential, can be used and is used in a classroom. Do German teachers use smartphones? How do they do it? What are the benefits resulting from it? Does it have any influence on the role of a learner and a teacher? The following article is an attempt to find the answer to the above and other questions about the role of modern technologies in the German classroom. It is based on own research conducted among a group of German teachers. The essential context for the study and the reflections are teachers’ digital competencies and the status of a smartphone at school.

    Opis:
    This article and the study it describes present the results of research on the general level of digital competence of students in the teaching specialization in the context of preparation for the teacher profession and the Council of the European Union recommendation of 22 May 2018 on key competencies for lifelong learning. The results of the research are compared with publicly available reports on the digital competencies of Poles and with the European Media Literacy Standard for Youth Workers (EMELS).

    Opis:
    Modern didactics of foreign languages should be based not only on the training of communication competence, which allows to achieve the most important goal of learning – communication in a foreign language, but also on the training of translation competence, which gives wider possibilities for the use of language, e.g. in language mediation. Mediated communication is often more difficult, requiring trust, intercultural competence, understanding of otherness from all participants as well as the responsibility of intermediaries for the final outcome of communication. Anyone can be a “translator” in everyday situations.

    The digital competence is one of the key competences. It is also very important in the education. The author of the article describes digital skills of the German language students who are training to become translators within the context of the EMT competence framework. The most important of the competence is the use of technology. This competence includes the entire knowledge and all of the skills used to implement present and future translation technologies within the translation process.
