    Artykuł prezentuje obraz rodziny, dzięki dokonanej przez autorkę analizie nadesłanych w latach 1962–1969 ankiet do redakcji „Życia Warszawy”. Ukazywały się one cyklicznie. Pierwsza z nich pod nazwą: Jaka jesteś rodzino? pragnęła uzyskać wiedzę na temat przeobrażeń ówczesnych rodzin oraz zmian społeczno-gospodarczych, które kształtowały jej model. Następne: Młodzi po ślubie oraz Mąż i żona zmierzały do odkrycia relacji i problemów małżeńskich, występujących w połowie lat sześćdziesiątych XX wieku. Kolejna ankieta: Rodzice, dzieci, rodzice miała dokonać diagnozy konfliktów światopoglądowych, kłopotów wychowawczych oraz ukazać kontakty między rodzicami a dziećmi i związane z nimi pojawiające się trudności. Ostatnia ankieta: Gdy oboje pracują miała pokazać obraz życia codziennego rodziny, w której mąż i żona pracują zawodowo. Należy podkreślić, że ankiety nie miały w większości charakteru szczegółowych kwestionariuszy, stąd odpowiedzi na nie, w wielu przypadkach, stanowiły kilkustronicowe opisy osobistych historii. Analiza zebranych przez „Życie Warszawy” materiałów pozwoliła na uzyskanie charakterystycznych i najczęściej występujących problemów rodzin lat sześćdziesiątych ubiegłego wieku. Odpowiedzi udzielone w ankietach można uznać za historyczny głos ludzi żyjących w czasach PRL-u.
    The article presents the picture of a family, based on the analysis of questionnaires devised by the Author. The surveys were sent between 1962–1969 to the editorial office of the „Life of Warsaw”. They appeared periodically. The first of them was entitled „What is you family like?”. The main purpose was to get the knowledge about transformations of contemporary families and social-economic changes which shaped the model of a family. The next two surveys „Young couples” and „Husband and Wife” aimed to discover relationships and marital problems which were appearing in the 1960s. Another questionnaire „Parents, children, parents” was expected to make the diagnosis of ideological conflicts, behavioral problems, as well as relations between parents and children and related problems. The last survey „When they both work” showed a picture of the ordinary family life in which the husband and wife worked professionally. It should be emphasized that the questionnaire did not have the form of detailed surveys. They had an opened-question form which resulted in the collection of multipage descriptions of personal histories. The analysis of materials published in „The Life of Warsaw” enabled the Author to obtain a common characteristic and certain problems of families in the 1960’s. The responses to questionnaires can be regarded as a historical voice of the people living in The Polish People’s Republic.

To ona określa warunki indywidualnego rozwoju osobowości jednostki, zaspakaja istotne potrzeby biologiczne i psychiczne, daje poczucie sensu życia, inspiruje do aktywności, ułatwia wrastanie w świat kultury oraz przyswajanie obowiązujących w nim norm i wartości, chroni i wspomaga w sytuacjach trudnych. W artykule przedstawiono analizę społecznych przemian zachodzących we współczesnej rodzinie i ich konsekwencje zwracając szczególną uwagę na tradycje, które wpływają na teraźniejszość i budują przyszłość.
    The family should be the most important and the safest educational environment, as having a family is essential at every stage of life. The family determines the conditions for the individual's personality development, satisfies important biological and psychological needs, gives a sense of life, inspires to be active, facilitates growing into the world of culture and adapting to the norms and values in it. The following article presents an analysis of selected social changes taking place in the contemporary family and their consequences, paying spe-cial attention to traditions that affect the present and create the future.

    Seen as the smallest social entity, the family underlies all of society and fulfills three basic functions: procreative, educational and economic. The causes of problems for modern families include, among others, deteriorating economic conditions, i.e. high unemployment rate, low salary, an increase in both the cost of living and education. Another threat leading to the disintegration of the family is the severity of pathological phenomena e.g. alcoholism, drug addiction, domestic violence, and crime. The disappearance of the multi-generational family and a decline in the number of children per family are also noted as threats.

    Artykuł opisuje popularność alternatywnych form życia rodzinnego wśród młodzieży miejskiej i wiejskiej zamieszkującej powiat bialski. Zawiera omówienie wyników ankiety przeprowadzonej na przełomie 2013/2014 roku i stanowi próbę odpowiedzi na pytania czy i na ile związki nieformalne są alternatywą dla małżeństwa i rodziny; czy młodzi ludzie mają świadomość skutków prawnych funkcjonowania w tzw. wolnych związkach i czy mają one wpływ na dziecko, jeśli się pojawia w takiej relacji.
    The article describes the popularity of alternative forms of family life among young people living in urban and rural settings of the Bialski region. It contains a discussion of the results of a survey conducted at the turn of 2013/2014, and an attempt to answer the question whether and, if so how, informal relationships are an alternative to marriage and family, whether young people are aware of the legal consequences of staying in so called free relationships, and whether they have an impact on a child if it results from such a relationship.

    Opis:
    Apart from the care for the families, the family ministry also deals with all the issues concerning the betrothed. The period of engagement is a special time that should be devoted to discussing the plans for the future such as: the choice of the place to live in, the duties of each spouse, the financial issues, the sexual issues, social life, leisure, bringing up children and preparing them for the responsible life in the light of their real vocation. The proper, valuable and responsible experience of the engagement period helps to overcome the modern threats. These include: pairing among teenagers − to be „only” with each other, the premarital „trial” cohabitation and the improper promotion of experiencing the engagement period in the media. The pastoral care of the family ministry for the future spouses is the action which will show them the appropriate way in order to help them to positively establish a successful marriage and family. The future spouses are supposed to decide to get married by an act of personal choice which should be well thought out, free and prayed for.

    The challenges that pastoral care in Poland has to face today are not less numerous than at the time when it was established several dozen years ago. It seems that we should begin our survey of these challenges from inidicating a group of challenges that may be called challenges to marraige and family. Here we find that the structure of marriage as a relationship between heterosexual persons: a husband and wife is more and more commonly questioned; marriage is questioned as the foundation of family; the processes of marital disintegration increase, divorces and remarriages; free unions that last for years. The causes for this group of challenges as ideaological or practical. Another group of challenges consists of separation due to economic reasons, mainly going abroad to work. This causes the increasing process of marrital disintegration, rapid growth of social orphans, old parents and often ill are left unattended by their adult emigrating children. It follows from job problems that the competitive model of interpersonal relations is extrapolated on the marrital bond. We have to add the issues of psychological and physical violence in the family, abortion and calls to legalise euthanasia. A further group of challenges consists of those related to sexual activity. Contraceptive mentality and practices are popular, the phenomenon of marrital infertility is increasing, life is conceived beyond its natural and marrital milieu. In view of the above challenges, pastoral care for families in Poland should change its legal-moral categories of marriage and family iinto sociological and theological, it should purify the image of God from its anthropomorphic elements. It depends much on this image that man can understand himself and build his marrital relationship. Another important issue is to link theological knowledge and adequate aspects of the particular sciences. This link must be methodologically correct in pastoral care. Theological knowledge shows a model of marriage and family, whereas the particular sciences provide practical solutions how to accomplish this model. All this calls for an ordering of basic concepts of marriage and family, as there is much disorder there. Eventually, such actions should bring about milieus of support for the family that would make it easier to defend the principal Christian values.
