    The article presents some fairly representative trends of changes in the perception of the role and function of religion in everyday life of the young generation (students). A comparison was also made of the level and typological diversity of student religiousness more than two decades apart. The thesis about changing forms of religiousness and ways of expressing it was confirmed (selectivity, syncretization, privatization, decrease in the authority of the Church as a formal institution). A fairly consistent increase in the declared significance of religion in everyday life of the surveyed students and a clear polarization of the meanings attributed to religion were revealed. A proposal was made to gradually instrumentalize the religious sphere and limit its autotelic significance in the everyday life of a young person. The results indicate that religion and individual religiousness do not lose their meaning, but the quality of the meanings assigned to it changes.

    In this article, I present the results of my sociological research on the perception and assessment of the role of religion by Polish youth in the sense of life and people’s happiness. I realized out my own research in 2008 among 456 school youth in Kalisz and in 2011 among 426 students of the College of Communications and Management in Poznan. The results of my research are confronted here with the results of research of other sociologists with they realized (implemented) in the past (XX) century among high school youth and students on the subject of existential role. A comparative analysis of the results of both research showed significant changes in the assessment of today’s (contemporary) Polish youth, which the of religion in giving meaning to life and a sense of happiness for people. Today’s youth (from the 21st century) in Poland is more critical of the existential role of religion and more often questions the necessity of this role in people’s lives than the youth of the past century. At the same time, the indicator of today’s youth has decreased, which accepts fully or conditionally (partially) the role of religion in life and in the feeling of happiness by people. Indicator of positive of the existential role of religion among Polish youth were much greater in the past century.

    Nowadays more often people are asking about the meaning of life. It is a fundamental question that every human being faces. Man is asking whether life is worth living, what to do to make our life meaningful?A human being, among many needs, has the need for discovering the sense of life, the need comes from the very core of human existence as placed in time and connected with the phenomenon of passing away. Discovering the sense of life leads to the experience of happiness, joy, and to inner life lived much more to the full. Showing the meaning of life and helping to find that meaning are very important functions of religion. Due to it, a man is able to live one’s life, ambitions, goals, joyful moments as well as his or her suffering in the light of deeper understanding. Religion is the one that can often bring the richest and deepest answers to the question of the two meanings: the meaning of life and the world.

    Celem tekstu jest wskazanie możliwych przyczyn, które doprowadziły do kryzysu współczesnej edukacji. Zastąpienie dialogu mówieniem a wiedzę wiadomościami doprowadziło do zmiany miejsca nauczyciela i jego roli we współczesnej kulturze i procesie wychowania. Można jednak znaleźć drogi wyjścia z tego kryzysu tak, aby odnowić rolę nauczyciela jako mistrza i nauczyć się wysuwać wiedzę na pierwszy plan tego procesu. Autor znajduje tę drogę w ponownym przemyśleniu zasad edukacji i kultury klasycznej i wczesnochrześcijańskiej.
    The aim of the text is to indicate the possible causes that led to the crisis of modern education. Replacing the dialogue with speaking and knowledge with news has led to a change of the teacher's place in contemporary culture and upbringing. However, one can find ways out of this crisis to renew the teacher's role as a master and learn to put knowledge at the forefront of this process. The author finds this path in rethinking the principles of education and classical and early Christian culture.

    Jest prawdą niemal banalną, że warunki życia współczesnego, rozwój nowych dziedzin nauki i techniki, a także rosnąca specjalizacja coraz bardziej oddalają nas od naszego dziedzictwa kulturowego. I to właśnie dziś, w czasach, kiedy mamy w kraju więcej ludzi wykształconych niż kiedykolwiek przedtem. Coraz trudniejszy staje się dostęp do niematerialnej schedy przekazanej nam przez liczne pokolenia przodków.     The purpose of elaboration is to present opinion that food is a fascinating subject, and that could be subject of research by representatives of many scientific disciplines. Certainly it is worthwhile to ask about the specialties professionals representing various disciplines of humanities and covering different periods in the history of culture. It is almost a banal that the conditions of modern life, the development of new areas of science and technology, and the growing specialization are becoming increasingly alienated us from our cultural heritage. Especially today, at a time when in our country we have more educated people than ever before. It becomes increasingly difficult to access the immaterial legacy handed down to us by many generations of our ancestors. Conscious participation at this legacy whose meaning is easily lost in the bustle of daily life, is a matter of extremely important, (not suitable weigh), because it is a sense of belonging to the national, European and Mediterranean culture because decides on participation in the collective public awareness. Hunger is a fundamental biological need same perceived by all the people in the world. Way of satisfy hunger is determined by various factors, among which cultural determinants, and consequently religion to feature an enormous role. Elaboration is a strictly review of the literature on the meaning of food in the biggest religions of the world like: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism.

W jednym z wywiadów stwierdził, że jego fascynacjami życia i to szczególnie uporczywymi, stały się nauka i wiara. Odbierając w 2008 roku nagrodę Templetona za wysiłki wkładane w budowanie pomostów między nauką, a religią, mówił, że nauka daje człowiekowi wiedzę, a religia, daje mu sens.

Heller, a priest, cosmologist, philosopher, theologian, has been emphasizing for years that the Christian logic of the struggle between faith and evil has a bit paradoxical nature, because it is not destruction but building. According to his belief, the most effectively, man struggles with evil, if he restores harmony at various stages of life. The Cracow philosopher does not cease, for many years, to undertake scientific efforts to merge the world of science and faith, through a philosophical reflection. In one of the interviews, he even held that science and faith, through a philosophical reflection.     Czasy współczesne obfitują w różne teorie dotyczące religii. Dotyczy to także myśli amerykańskiego filozofa i kognitywisty Daniela Dennetta. Bazując na własnej wersji ewolucjonizmu, próbuje on przedstawić czytelnikowi teorię mówiącą, że religia jest zjawiskiem naturalnym i zanikającym. Niestety podstawy jego teorii nie są wolne od poważnych błędów. Nie rozumie on ponadto treści kryjących się pod klasycznymi terminami „Bóg” i „religia”, co sprawia, że w jego filozofii pojawia się silna tendencja do „ubóstwiania” i „absolutyzowania” tego, co określa mianem ewolucji czy natury. Można zatem uznać, że mimo iż odrzuca on tradycyjne rozumienie religii, to tendencje religijne są obecne w jego dywagacjach, a on sam jest jak najbardziej człowiekiem „pewnej wiary i zaufania”.
    Modern times abound with various theories about religion. This trend can also be found in the thoughts of the American philosopher and cognitive scientist Daniel Dennett. Based on his own version of evolutionism, he tries to introduce the reader to the theory that religion is a natural and vanishing phenomenon. Unfortunately, the foundations of his theory are not free from serious flaws. Moreover, he does not understand the content behind the classic terms like “God” and “religion”, which means that in his philosophy there is a strong tendency to “deify” and “absolutize” concepts such as “evolution” and “nature”. It can therefore be concluded that although he rejects the traditional understanding of religion, religious tendencies are still present in his divagations, and he is, above all, a man of a certain “faith and trust”.

    The German researcher of the philosophy of religion, Bernhard Welte (1906–1983), looking for an answer to the question about the substantive relationship between philosophical thinking and religious thinking, does not provide a final answer, but allows some discussion and polemics. This way of practicing the philosophy of religion is interesting because this problem is juxtaposed with the problem of man and his experience of existence. Thanks to this narrative, it is possible to pose more demanding ethical questions. In the further deliberations of this author, there are, inter alia, reflection on what a person’s life could look like without the “presence” of religion in his life (also in the aspect of relating to being a non-believer), also in the ethical aspect. It can be said that in a similar key - anthropological and ethical - he presents his position on the problem of “philosophical thinking versus religious thinking”, the Krakow philosopher Józef Tischner (1931–2000). This thinking is based both on his concept of the philosophy of drama, as well as on the experience (direct and indirect) of the believer. This reflection is “torn” between a specific topos (temple) and the people who come to a particular temple and create a specific community. The aim of the article is an attempt to answer the question of what religious thinking is as perceived by Tischner, as well as to specify his position in the aspect of the contemporary crisis of understanding the community in terms of the philosophy of values.
