Bez jasno postawionych celów staje się uległy wobec tego, co go otacza. Gdy wiemy, do czego zmierzamy nie mamy wątpliwości wobec tego, co robimy. A to, co cenimy w życiu najbardziej kreuje obraz nas samych. Poznanie samego siebie jest jednym z najważniejszych a jednocześnie najtrudniejszych zadań stojących przed człowiekiem. Jest on sam dla siebie zagadką. Im więcej gromadzi wiadomości o sobie, tym wie mniej. Gdyby człowiek wiedział wszystko byłby Bogiem. Gdyby nie wiedział nic, byłby zwierzęciem. Jednak niewiedza człowieka o samym sobie tak jak wszelka wiedza, nie jest jakimś brakiem ludzkiej natury, ale przynależy do niej samej.
The article describes men, their hierarchy of values and highlights the individuality of human nature. Any human being aware of the hierarchy of values knows where they are heading in their lives. Without clearly stated goals people become influenced by what is surrounding them, whereas when they know the direction they heading towards, they have no doubt of what they are doing. The things that we value the most are the things that create the image of us. Therefore, becoming familiar with oneself is at the same time one of the most important and difficult tasks that a person encounters. A human being is a riddle for himself. The more information he gathers, the less he knows. If a human knew everything, he would be God, but if he knew nothing, he would be an animal. The human lack of knowledge about himself, as well as any lack of knowledge does not mean there is no such thing as the human nature but on the contrary-it is a part of that nature.

Artykuł ma charakter przeglądowy i dotyczy bardzo istotnej z punktu widzenia wychowania zależności pomiędzy wyznawaną przez młodzież hierarchią wartości, a skalą przejawianych przez nią zachowań dewiacyjnych, w tym przestępczych. Przedmiotowa zależność wyprowadzona z rożnych koncepcji teoretycznych, niekoniecznie powstałych na gruncie socjologii dewiacji czy kryminologii (np. teoria uczenia się) jednoznacznie wskazuje, że system wartości u młodzieży przejawiającej zachowania dewiacyjne przedstawia się odmiennie niż o młodzieży, u której proces socjalizacji i wychowania przebiega prawidłowo. Ci pierwsi nastawieni są głównie na realizację indywidualnych potrzeb – często drogą „na skróty”, inaczej oceniają pracę zawodową i uczestnictwo w życiu społecznym. Wysoko cenią tzw. burzliwe życie (częste zmiany, ryzyko, zabawę, humor i chwilowe przyjemności). Skłonne są akceptować wewnętrzne normy własnej (aspołecznej) grupy podobnie postrzegającej otoczenie, natomiast nie włączają w zakres wyznaczników swego postępowania tzw. norm społecznych.
The article is an overview of relationship, which is very important from the point of view of upbringing, between the hierarchy of values preached by youth and the scale of deviant behaviors, including criminal one, that they manifest. The subject dependence, derived from various theoretical concepts, not necessarily based on the sociology of deviation or criminology (e.g. The learning theory), clearly indicates that the system of values of the youth exhibiting deviant behavior is different from the value system of adolescents whose socialization and upbringing is proceeding properly. The first mentioned group is mainly focused on the fruition of individual needs - often taking "shortcuts", they assess professional work and participation in social life differently. They highly value the so-called turbulent life (frequent changes, risks, fun, humor and momentary pleasures). They tend to accept the internal norms of their own (anti-social) group that perceives the environment in a similar way, but do not include the so-called social standards in their behaviors.

In the given study authors attempt to present the hierarchy of values according to children younger school age developed on the basis of the results of research carried out among pupils from 1st to 3rd classes. Citing the literature quoted examples of definitions of values and their classifications developed by researchers in various fields. In the main part of the article we present the results of research showing the hierarchy of values proposed by students. The authors also made a comparison of the results obtained by gender and taking into account environmental differences (students from the countryside and from the city). A summary of the conclusions of the study are important for the practice of teaching and educational process.

Artykuł podejmuje problematykę poznawania hierarchii wartości kształtowanej przez wychowanków. Celem pracy jest określenie czym są wartości z uwzględnieniem perspektywy filozoficznej, psychologicznej, socjologicznej i pedagogicznej oraz ukazanie propozycji poznawania wartości preferowanych przez uczniów. Artykuł podkreśla złożoność kategorii jaką stanowią wartości oraz podejmuje ponadto problematykę istnienia wartości. Rozwiązaniem tego problemu jest przyjęcie określonego stanowiska aksjologicznego. Pozwala to na skonstruowanie propozycji poznawania kształtowanej przez wychowanków hierarchii wartości z wykorzystaniem metody aktywizującej. Artykuł zawiera rekomendacje praktyczne dotyczące poznawania wartości preferowanych przez uczniów i możliwości poznawania wartości przez wychowanków. Wskazane propozycje mogą zostać wykorzystane przez wychowawców na zajęciach z udziałem uczniów w wieku szkolnym.
The article concerns the issue of learning the hierarchy of values shaped by students. The aim of this paper is to determine what values are, including philosophical, psychological, sociological, pedagogical perspectives, as well as to present recommendations for learning the values preferred by students. The article emphasizes the complexity of the category of values and addresses the issue of the existence of values. The solution to this problem is to adopt a specific axiological position. This allows for the creation of recommendations for learning the hierarchy of values shaped by students using the activating method. The article presents practical recommendations regarding learning the values preferred by students and the possibility for students to learning the values. The indicated recommendations can be used by the educators during the classes with school-age students.

The article is devoted to the problems of axiology of spaces. The aim of the article is to demonstrate that a physical space is the arena of a certain struggle of values. Their materialisation and realisation in the world of real things result from the human understanding, response and approach towards values. The differences in perception of values determine a great number of spatial decisions and influence the appearance of spaces, the expression of which are architecture and landscape.

Formowanie systemu wartości jest istotną kwestią w procesie wychowania młodego pokolenia. Pytanie o to co w życiu ważne jest szczególnie istotne u progu dorosłości, decyduje o kluczowych wyborach młodych dorosłych. W artykule chciałabym dokonać porównania wartości polskich i białoruskich studentów, tego co dla nich ważne a co ważne nie jest. Wnioski pochodzą z badań wykonanych metodą sondażową, techniką ankiety audytoryjnej. Wyłaniają się z nich podobieństwa, ale i znaczące różnice pomiędzy polskimi i białoruskimi studentami. Podobieństwa dotyczą postrzegania rodziny jako wartości najważniejszej. W innych kategoriach występują już różnice. Największe dotyczą roli pracy i polityki w życiu (ważniejsze dla białoruskich studentów) jak również przyjaciół i znajomych, wolnego czasu i religii (ważniejsze dla polskich studentów). Pomimo podobieństwa kulturowego, dziesiątków lat pozostawania w tej samej strefie wpływów politycznych, system wartości polskiego i białoruskiego młodego pokolenia jest inny.
Forming a system of values is an important matter in the process of bringing up the young generation. The question, about what is essential in life, is particularly important at the threshold of adulthood; it determines the key choices of young adults. In my article, I would like to compare the values of Polish and Belarusian students, what is important to them and what is not. The conclusions come from surveys made using the survey method i.e. the auditorium questionnaire technique. They show similarities, but also significant differences between Polish and Belarusian students. The similarities mainly focus on the perception of the family as the most important value. In other categories, differences start to shine through. The biggest ones concern the role of work and politics in life (more important for Belarusian students) as well as friends and acquaintances, free time and religion (more important for Polish students). Despite the cultural similarity and decades of being in the same zone of political influence, the system of values of the Polish and Belarusian young generation is different.

The problems of the values preferred by teachers merits our attention, especially under the conditions of political, economic, social and cultural transformations in which Polish society has lived recently. From the social point of view, it is interesting to point the issue of the hierarchy of values approved by teachers. This issue has been shown on the basis of empirical research among the teachers in Sandomierz. All the analyses here tended to define the direction of the gradation of values which the teachers of the Sandomierz schools regarded as important. The analyses sought to determine the variables which condition the approved hierarchy of values. Detailed analyses pinpoint such variables as sex, age, and period of teachers' work, and they differentiate the approved hierarchy of values. The findings show that there is an interrelation between the independent variables under consideration and reveal their role in how the teachers under study rank particular values. A general characterization of the population under study has proved that the percentage of the believing teachers is high and reaches almost 85 per cent; it is, however, lower than the percentage from the research of religiosity in Poland (ca. 90 per cent). It is worth noting that almost 12 per cent of the teachers under study are religiously indecisive, but they are attached to Christian tradition. The ratio of teachers' attitudes towards religious practices points to a relatively high selectivity in their approach to religiosity. Only 42 per cent of respondents do practice systematically (in Polish research − 52.4 per cent, in the Włocław diocese 45 per cent), almost 40 per cent are not systematic, 15 per cent rarely practice, and 3.4 per cent do not practice at all. Out of religious truths the existence of God is most generally accepted (91 per cent), and the least the infallibility of the pope (31 per cent), the existence of hell (ca. 54 per cent). As far as the norms of the Decalogue are concerned, the population under study accepts most the norm you shall not kill, and honour your father; the respondents ranked as the third the commandment concerning the cult of God (75.6 per cent). Among the values in question family values were ranked as the last ones (family happiness and work and sacrifice for one's own children); the second place took values related to religious life (everlasting salvation; preservation of the faith in God). It follows from the research that the socio-political background, with the stress laid on the principle of democracy and freedom, has a clear impact on the fact how teachers appreciate of such values as freedom, dignity, one's own beliefs. At the same time, the same context seems to magnify the tendencies to the individualization of the values of religion. In their approved hierarchy of values the teachers rank very highly family, religion and the values of human life. These are the values for which they would lay down their life. Now in Poland a thesis about the devaluation of the value of human life is being put forward, stressing the widespread phenomenon of abortion, propagation of euthanasia, or else various forms of violence and crime shown in the media. It seems that the democratic context with its emphasis on freedom, pluralism and democracy, is conducive to the formation among teachers attitudes towards their own life and the life of the others. One can notice among the respondents a clear tendency to underestimate and ignore such values as solidarity and social equality. This fact may signal disappointment to this social category, or at least a considerable weakening of a hope that these values can be fully realized. Such hopes were awakened in the beginning of the transformations. After ten years of transformation, the respondents who experience various difficulties and are burdened with big costs of those transformations are able to asses the gap between the expectations and reality.

W artykule, na podstawie analitycznego przeglądu klasycznych i współczesnych teorii elit, zostały przedstawione dominujące wartości rządzących elit, a także została uzasadniona rola rządzącej i opozycyjnej elity w kształtowaniu i umacnianiu wartości politycznych. Prezentowana jest retrospektywna analiza dominujących wartości elity politycznej w najnowszej historii Ukrainy w latach 1991-2015, jak również została zarysowana hierarchia wartości politycznych, głoszonych przez kolejnych prezydentów Ukrainy w konfrontacji z prowadzoną przez nich rzeczywistą polityką.
The article is deal with the analytical review of classic and modern theories of elites, the dominant values of ruling (main) elites are exposed. Author found the role of ruling and opposition elitein forming and claim of political values. The retrospective analysis of dominant values of political eliteis carried out in the newest history of Ukraine (1991-2015). The hierarchies of political values, that were proclaimed by Presidents of Ukraine are presented in the article. The results of their implementation are revealed.

W artykule omówiono zagadnienie satysfakcji zawodowej, jako jednej ze sfer jakości życia. Problem badawczy obejmował związek pomiędzy wartościami ostatecznymi, instrumentalnymi oraz związanymi ze spełnieniem naukowym a satysfakcją z pracy pracowników naukowych. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynikło, że zadowolenie zawodowe nie jest niezależne od wartości realizowanych w pracy. Im więcej realizowanych wartości ostatecznych i im silniej realizowane, tym wyższa satysfakcja zawodowa i na odwrót. Dla satysfakcji zawodowej pracowników naukowych wartości ostateczne miały większe znaczenie niż wartości instrumentalne oraz wartości związane ze spełnieniem naukowym. Analiza wyników pozwoliła nakreślić płaszczyzny dalszych badań, wskazując potrzebę lepszego poznania uwarunkowań satysfakcji z pracy, uwzględniając specyfikę danej grupy zawodowej.
In the paper the issues of work satisfaction as part of life satisfaction are discussed. The research problem included the link between terminal values, instrumental values or values connected with scientific fulfilment and work satisfaction of academics. The results of the conducted research show that work satisfaction is dependent on observing terminal values at work. The more values a person feels observed, the more satisfied with work he or she is and vice versa. Terminal values have more influence on work satisfaction than instrumental ones or values connected with scientific fulfilment. The analysis of the results helped to define plans for future research, showing the need to find the causes of work satisfaction, including unique conditions of the examined profession.

Badania nad jakością życia wyznaczają różne jej interpretacje i wskazują na rozmaite narzędzia oraz metody jej pomiaru. W badaniach jakości życia występuje zarówno opisowe, jak i wartościujące rozumienie tej kategorii. Podejście opisowe jest podstawą do rozróżnienia obiektywnej i subiektywnej jakości życia. Przytaczane w różnorodnych definicjach aspekty jakości życia mają swój wymiar obiektywny, ale ich ocena zależy od subiektywnego systemu wartości oraz odczucia co do stopnia zaspokojenia potrzeb i aspiracji. Celem artykułu jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie: jak współcześni Polacy postrzegają jakość swojego życia i jakie cenią wartości? W artykule podjęto rozważania teoretyczne dotyczące terminu „jakość życia” i wykorzystano także raporty Diagnozy Społecznej i CBOS oraz wyniki autorskich badań ankietowych. Na podstawie analizy literatury przedmiotu i wykorzystanych materiałów źródłowych można wysnuć wniosek, że jakość życia Polaków w istotny sposób kształtują przede wszystkim relacje rodzinne i międzyludzkie oraz zdrowie.
Research on the quality of life provides a number of interpretations on what this quality actually is and suggests using various tools and methods for measuring it. Studies are based both on descriptive and evaluative approaches to the category under discussion. The former lays foundations for differentiating between objective and subjective quality of living. Referred to in a number of definitions, different aspects of life quality have an objective dimension, yet their assessment depends on the subjective system of values and opinions about the extent to which one’s needs and aspirations are being satisfied. The article is aimed at determining how modern Polish people perceive the quality of their lives and what values they cherish. Furthermore, the paper is an attempt to discuss the notion of “life quality” based on reports produced by the Public Opinion Research Centre (CBOS), Social Diagnosis (Diagnoza Społeczna) as well as the results of questionnaire survey conducted by the author. Based on the study of the literature on the subject and source materials, conclusion may be drawn that the life quality of Polish people depends greatly on family and interpersonal relations as well as health issues.
