Opis:: Subject and aim ofthe study: The aim ofthe article was to present selected tangible and intangible elements of Kashubian culture and to present the results of a survey aimed at finding out tourists’ opinions on the influence of cultural heritage on the perception of the Kashubian region. Materials and methods: The research was conducted in April 2021 by means of a diagnostic poll method using a questionnaire survey. The survey was conducted among 254 respondents. During the survey, purposive sampling was used; the participants were domestic tourists who visited Kashubia at least once. Results: The survey made it possible to assess the recognisability of the components of Kashubian culture and to find out the respondents’ opinion on the perception of its individual elements. Conclusions:The study found a very good impact of cultural heritage on the respondents’ perception of the Kashubian region, which can be the basis for creating various cultural tourism products.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest rozpoznanie warunków konstruowania tożsamości człowieka (dziecka/dorosłego) w rodzinach dwukulturowych kaszubsko-polskich. Wywód oparty jest na teorii dyskursu Michela Foucault, która została wzmocniona myśleniem Antonia Gramsciego, Ernesta Laclau i Chantal Mouffe. Materiał empiryczny został pozyskany w wyniku badań biograficznych zrealizowanych w okresie od czerwca do sierpnia 2022 r. Łącznie przeprowadzono 8 wywiadów z osobami dorosłymi, które urodziły się i wychowały w rodzinach kaszubsko-polskich. Na potrzeby artykułu wybrano jeden wywiad, który w ocenie autorki jest reprezentatywny dla pozostałych. Analiza dyskursywna pozwoliła zrekonstruować dyskursy polski (reprezentowany w rodzinie przez ojca) i kaszubski (reprezentowany w rodzinie przez matkę), które „rywalizowały”/„rywalizują” o tożsamość rozmówcy. Prezentowany materiał ujawnia kilka istotnych wniosków, wśród których do najważniejszych należą: (1) w świadomości społecznej nadal żywa jest peerelowska narracja o Kaszubach-Polakach i kaszubszczyźnie jako ludowej/peryferyjnej odmianie kultury polskiej; (2) traktowanie kaszubszczyzny jako ludowej/peryferyjnej odmiany polszczyzny nie sprzyja wytwarzaniu przestrzeni międzykulturowej w obszarze relacji polsko-kaszubskich; (3) traktowanie kaszubszczyzny jako ludowej/peryferyjnej odmiany polszczyzny stwarzać może sytuacje, w których niektórzy, pochodzący z rodzin kaszubsko-polskich, stają wobec konieczności radykalnych wyborów: być Kaszubą czy być Polakiem?
The goal of the article is to identify the conditions of identity construction (a child/an adult) in Kashubian-Polish bicultural families. The argument is based on Michel Foucault’s theory of discourse which has been reinforced by the thinking of Antonio Gramsci, Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. The empirical material was obtained by means of biographical research carried out in the period between June and August 2022. In total, eight interviews were conducted with adults who were born and raised in Kashubian-Polish families. For the purpose of the article, one interview was chosen, which the author believes is representative of the others. Discourse analysis made it possible to reconstruct the Polish (represented in the family by the father) and the Kashubian (represented by the mother) discourses which “competed”/“compete” for the interlocutor’s identity. The presented material reveals several important conclusions, the most relevant of which are (1) the Communist narrative about Kashubians-Poles and the Kashubian region as a folk/peripheral variety of Polish culture is still alive in the social awareness; (2) viewing the Kashubian language as a folk/peripheral variety of Polish language is not conducive to creating an intercultural space in the area of Polish-Kashubian relations; (3) viewing the Kashubian language as a folk/peripheral variety of Polish language may lead to situations in which some people who come from Kashubian-Polish families need to making radical choices: to be Kashubian or to be Polish?

The main manifestations of the activity of these groups can be reduced on the one hand to analyzing and commenting on a given text of culture, and on the other hand, to develop it, by adding new stories, often using other medium than the one originally used.

Opis:: The article touches upon the issue of influence of modern digital media on the attitudes of recipients/ broadcasters (digital communicators) related to their creative activities. The first indication applies to the fact that the development of digital technologies introduces a new digital order of communication (from the primary order, through the secondary and hybrid order, to the digital order), which in turn provides communicators with a broad spectrum of new methods and tools of communication 0 including tools permitting creative activities. Second of all, it is noted that despite the mentioned rich offer of digital tools and the promotion of creative attitudes, digital media, in particular global social media, are dominated by attitudesof re-production related both to common re-distribution of existing content (sharing, copying and pasting, etc.), and even limiting creativity entirely (likes, tags). The remarks made are compared to opinions of digital media researchers and neurobiologists indicating on the one hand the weakening/ dissolution of the reception of content by digital media (the negative effect of multi-tasking), and on the other hand, the supersaturation of emotions related to the reception of content (negative influence of computer games). In conclusion, attention is turned to the necessity of establishing in contemporary communicators (on all levels of education) of digital communication competences, in particular the promotion of creative attitudesrelated to these competences.

Opis:: Tadeusz Wawrzynowicz was a musician who greatly contributed to the artistic life of Często- chowa and educated new generations of musicians who continued his work. He devoted his life to music, its performance, popularization, and music education. He worked as principal of music in- stitutions in Częstochowa, was a musician, educator and music promoter, and led school choirs and orchestras. He committed his entire professional life to Częstochowa – as a versatile musician, pedagogue and social activist, he fully deserved a permanent place in the cultural landscape of the city and the awareness of its inhabitants. To complete the image of Tadeusz Wawrzynowicz, it should be stressed that he cherished family values, enjoyed literature, poetry, sport, Jurassic nature and excursions.
Tadeusz Wawrzynowicz był muzykiem, którego działalność ogromnie wzbogaciła życie artystyczne Częstochowy i owocowała wychowaniem kadr, dzięki którym Jego dzieło było kontynuowane. Poświęcił swoje życie muzyce, jej wykonywaniu, popularyzacji i edukacji muzycznej. Pracował na stanowisku dyrektora częstochowskich placówek muzycznych, był muzykiem, pedagogiem i popularyzatorem muzyki, prowadził chóry i orkiestrę szkolną. Całe swoje zawodowe życie związał z Częstochową – jako wszechstronny muzyk, pedagog i działacz społeczny w pełni zasłużył na trwałe miejsce w krajobrazie kulturowym miasta i świadomości jego mieszkańców. Aby dopełnić wizerunku Tadeusza Wawrzynowicza, trzeba podkreślić, iż był on człowiekiem ceniącym war- tości rodzinne, lubił literaturę, poezję, sport, przyrodę jurajską oraz wycieczki turystyczne.

Opis:: The research on workers’ culture carried out in Poland from the 1960s to the late 1980s has been recognised in this article as a failure. The author discusses the numerous attempts to conceptualise research programmes and their actual implementation in the fields of sociology, anthropology and the emerging cultural studies. She looks for the sources of their failure, reflecting on its nature and possible causes. She asks whether the failure of the research on workers’ culture was not due to the scepticism of the researchers themselves, who might have overlooked important attempts at demonstrating self-awareness and pro-active attitude on the part of the workers, treating them as politically manipulated and therefore inauthentic. She raises the question about both ideological and methodological reasons behind this stance, the latter having to do with a clash between quantitative research and humanistic orientation. She calls for “preposterous” research (as proposed by Mieke Bal) to be undertaken, which would give a different interpretation of the workers’ various cultural initiatives from today’s perspective. Perhaps this would inspire the creation of a counter-history of workers’ culture.
Badania kultury robotniczej w Polsce od lat sześćdziesiątych do późnych osiemdziesiątych XX wieku diagnozowane są w tym artykule jako porażka. Autorka przypomina liczne próby konceptualizacji programów badawczych i konkretne ich realizacje w obszarze socjologii, antropologii i rodzącego się wówczas kulturoznawstwa. Szuka źródeł tej porażki, zastanawia się, na czym ona polegała i co mogło być jej przyczyną. Stawia pytanie: czy niepowodzenia badań nad kulturą robotniczą nie wynikały ze sceptycyzmu samych badaczy, którzy mogli przeoczyć ważne próby manifestacji samoświadomości i aktywnego uczestnictwa robotników, traktując je jako sterowane politycznie, a więc nieautentyczne. Pyta o przyczyny zarówno ideologiczne, jak i metodologiczne – ścieranie się badań ilościowych z orientacją humanistyczną. Proponuje, aby z dystansu czasowego podjąć badania preposteryjne, pozwalające dziś inaczej odczytywać różne robotnicze inicjatywy kulturalne. Być może byłoby to inspirujące dla budowania przeciw-historii kultury robotniczej.

The article shows the contribution of the second and third generations of the Great Emigration called Batignolles in maintaining and promoting the Polish community and its culture in France and in Europe. Scientific objective: Presentation, creation, evolution and analysis of the content of the most prestigious, published in French, Bulletin polonais littéraire, scientifique et artistique and the activities of its editors. Research methods: Referring to the methods of press studies and analysis of historical sources, it presents the importance of the journal in maintaining the Polish identity. Results and conclusions: It presents the importance of the magazine, shunned by politics, in the building of the strength and prestige of the conservative-patriotic group on the eve of independence in the face of other ephemeral journalistic ventures. Cognitive value: It shows its role as a chronicler and at the same time a representative of Polish moods at the Seine.

Próba pokazania odrębności pisarstwa Zygmunta Haupta poprzez takie cechy, jak malarskość i muzyczność, podwójność narracji, sugestia (złudna) autobiograficzności, ukryta erudycja, krajobraz historyczny, technika filmowa, łączenie tematyki kresowej z kulturą śródziemnomorską, odwołania do powieści młodzieżowych. Porównanie z twórczością Andrzeja Bobkowskiego prowadzi do sformułowania, ujętej już w tytule, podskórnej sprzeczności między tendencjami anarchistycznymi w dziele Haupta a właściwym mu jako artyście dążeniu do precyzji.
An unpublished essay about Haupt found in the critic’s archive: it is a chapter from a book titled Gałąź Zachodnia [The Western Branch] on Polish émigré literature, ready to print in 1990, but never published. The essay discusses the distinct features of Zygmunt Haupt’s prose, such as its artistic and musical qualities, complex narrative structure, (false) autobiographical tropes, hidden erudition, historical landscape, cinematic techniques, borderland and Mediterranean themes, and references to adventure novels. Haupt’s prose is also compared with the works of Andrzej Bobkowski, which allows the critic to discuss the contradiction, also emphasized in the title of the essay, between Haupt’s anarchist tendencies and his quest for perfection and precision in a work of art.

Opis:: The article concerns the need for teaching about the quality, as well as building pro-quality attitudes already at the school stage. The author presents quality issues, complications associated with its divergent understanding and its historical conditioning in Poland and also a brief explanation of the need of learning about quality since early childhood. TQM philosophy is described, as well as an overview of examples of building quality culture and education about quality in various countries of the world, together with their noticeable positive results. The current status of education on quality in Poland and quality issues affecting skills desired by employers is discussed.
Artykuł dotyczy konieczności edukacji na temat jakości oraz kształtowania kultury projakościowej już na etapie szkolnym. Przedstawiono w nim problematykę jakości, komplikacje związane z jej rozbieżnym rozumieniem oraz jej historyczne uwarunkowania w Polsce, a także krótkie uzasadnienie potrzeby kształcenia w zakresie jakości już od wczesnego dzieciństwa. Zaprezentowano również filozofię TQM oraz przegląd przykładów kształtowania kultury projakościowej i edukacji na temat jakości w różnych krajach świata wraz z ich zauważalnymi pozytywnymi rezultatami. Przedstawiono także obecny stan tej edukacji w Polsce i związek zagadnień dotyczących jakości z kompetencjami pożądanymi przez pracodawców.

Opis:: The article focuses on the material culture of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) as portrayed in selected German films made after 1990 and set in the GDR. The objects that are used in the films serve as a special kind of artefacts, symbolizing the reality of the GDR and defining it as imperfect, below expectations, and inefficient in meeting consumer demand. An important point of reference in the article is the context of post-communist nostalgia, which is a source of interesting symbolic redefinitions.
Artykuł dotyczy problematyki rzeczy codziennego użytku przedstawionych w wybranych filmach niemieckich realizowanych po 1990 roku a rozgrywających się w realiach Niemieckiej Republiki Demokratycznej. Przedmioty, które zostają użyte w filmach, występują w roli szczególnych artefaktów, symbolizujących rzeczywistość NRD i określających ją jako niedoskonałą, niespełniającą oczekiwań, konsumpcyjnie niewydolną. Istotnym punktem odniesienia w artykule jest kontekst nostalgii postkomunistycznej, która jest źródłem interesujących znaczeniowych przewartościowań.

The paper discusses the category of spatial situation – a specific experience of the human subject based on the concept of attentiveness, which is located in a specific geographic location, shares that location with a place accumulating heterochrony and is subject to the agency of matter. The term is considered in the light of Michel Foucault’s heterotopia, the return to materiality of Bjørnar Olsen and the culture of meaning and culture of presence of Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht.

Opis:: Among Polish language users, the numerous phrases used to describe both people with disabilities and deaf people are often meaningless. However, not everyone realizes that some of the terms used turn out to be very hurtful for the deaf people. However, to know the reason why some terms turn out that way, it is essential to know the community and the rules that govern it. The article emphasizes the importance of being aware of Deaf Culture, a cursory knowledge of which is necessary to understand the issues addressed in the text.
Wśród użytkowników języka polskiego liczne sformułowania określające zarówno osoby z niepełnosprawnościami, jak i osoby niesłyszące, okazują się często bez znaczenia. Nie wszyscy jednak zdają sobie sprawę z tego, że niektóre z wykorzystywanych określeń mogą być dla społeczności osób niesłyszących bardzo krzywdzące. Aby jednak dostrzec powody, dla których pewne określenia tak są odbierane, niezbędne jest poznanie tej społeczności i zasad, jakie w niej panują. W artykule podkreślono, jak ważna jest świadomość istnienia Kultury Głuchych, której pobieżna znajomość jest niezbędna do tego, aby zrozumieć problematykę podejmowaną w tekście.

Opis:: The subject of this paper is the specificity of the information space of persons with visual disabilities as a component of their information culture, according to the concept proposed by M. Kisilowska. Based on systematic analysis of documents and long years of participative observations, the deliberations focus on legal solutions governing the access of persons with visual disabilities to information, the navigation and cognition spheres of a blind information user and the specificity of providing information, in particular the Braille system, tactile graphics, audio description, alternative materials and augmentative technologies. The deliberations highlight obstacles in accessing information by persons with visual disabilities and suggest both practical solutions and research proposals for a complex analysis of the information culture of persons with visual disabilities in Poland.

Opis:: Przedmiotem recenzji jest monografia Tadeusza Budrewicza pt. Wierszobranie (druga połowa XIX wieku) (Kraków 2016), stanowiąca przykład kulturowej interpretacji historycznoliterackiej, zorientowanej na (re)konstrukcję poetyk polskiej poezji drugiej połowy XIX wieku. Autor połączył kilka strategii egzegetycznych, udanie stosując metodę statystyczną oraz pewne kategorie geopoetyki. Poezja jawi się tu jako dynamiczny układ konwencji artystycznych, funkcjonujący w wielu kontekstach zewnętrznych i stymulowany przez różne obiegi literackie (w tym: obieg popularny). Z książki Budrewicza wyłania się złożony obraz etnokulturowy, w którym splatają się różnorodne wątki ideowe współtworzące polską świadomość kulturową drugiej połowy XIX wieku.
The subject of the review is Tadeusz Budrewicz’s monograph entitled Wierszobranie (druga połowa XIX wieku) (Verse Selection [Second Half of the Nineteenth Century], Kraków 2016), which constitutes an example of cultural interpretation of literary history, oriented toward (re)constructing the poetics of Polish late nineteenth-century poetry. Budrewicz brings together several exegetic strategies, successfully applying the statistical method and certain categories of geopoetics. Poetry here appears as a dynamic formation of artistic conventions, functioning in many external contexts and stimulated by various literary currents (including the popular current). A complex ethnocultural image emerges from Budrewicz’s book, in which the variety of conceptual threads that co-created Polish cultural consciousness in the second half of the nineteenth century become woven together.

Przykładem poddanym analizie i opracowaniu w tym wydaniu Galerii jest działalność artystyczna Polskiego artysty sztuki konceptualnej i mail art - Paweł Petasz. Był on twórcą prac-kolaży, a także licznych self-published swoich własnych książek artysty, oraz instigatorem magazynu Commonpress, który stał się zbiorowym dziełem artystów mail art działających na całym świecie. Celem piątej edycji Galerii jest przybliżenie dokonań artystycznych Petasza, tak aby na tej podstawie dokonać prób nowych interpretacji tego rodzaju aktywności artystycznej, reewaluacji tej formy twórczości w kontekście współczesnego świata sztuki.
The program assumptions of the fifth edition of the Gallery in the Sztuka i Dokumentacja journal concern the artist's book. Contrary to art books, the basic assumption of which is to create a unique aesthetic form, and which are often expensive, large productions of well-known publishers of art publications, the artist's book is his own production, based on his own abilities and concept resulting from the social conditions in which a given publication is produced. An example analyzed and elaborated in this edition of the Gallery is the artistic activity of the Polish artist of conceptual art and mail art - Paweł Petasz. He was the creator of collage works, as well as numerous self-published works of his own artist’s books, and the instigator of Commonpress magazines, which became a collective work of mail art artists active around the world. The aim of the fifth edition of the Gallery is to present Petasz's artistic achievements, so as to make attempts on this basis for new interpretations of this type of artistic activity, and to re-evaluate this form of creativity in the context of the contemporary art world.
