Our research intends to find selection parameters for children’s literature to be used as a fundamental part of a foreign-language curriculum. We achieve this through an analysis of the educational and cultural-linguistic advantages of this literature. Our project’s goal is to expose our students to Italian literature using their second language, rather than their first one, as a way to convey cultural meaning. This educational project was conducted in 2015, in a school in Chicago that offers classes of Italian Language and Culture to children at various linguistic levels, including the English-Italian bilingual one. Our research paper is divided into three parts. The first part introduces a theoretical excursus on the meaning of children’s literature and on the fable’s structure as a literary genre. The second part presents examples of how a specific text (L’albero delle fiabe by Roberto Piumini) was selected and used during the project; this part also includes our comments based on the observations of the child participants. Finally, the analysis stage describes the generalisation of our data within a framework indicating how to select a literary text, which may be useful for other teachers when deciding which children’s books to use and how to apply them to educational curricula.
Il nostro studio si propone di individuare criteri di selezione del testo letterario per l’infanzia, da usare come parte integrante di un curriculum di lingua straniera, analizzandone i vantaggi educativi e linguistico-culturali. Lo scopo del progetto è stato esporre i bambini alla letteratura italiana, usando la lingua seconda come strumento veicolare, non il contrario. Il progetto didattico è stato svolto presso una scuola di Chicago che offre corsi di lingua e cultura italiana a bambini di vario livello linguistico, compreso i bilingui in inglese e italiano. Lo studio è diviso in tre parti. La prima parte presenta un excursus teorico sul significato della letteratura d’infanzia e sulla struttura della fiaba come genere letterario. La seconda parte presenta esempi di selezione del testo usato durante il progetto (L’albero delle fiabe di R. Piumini) e i commenti derivati dalle nostre osservazioni. La fase di analisi riporta la generalizzazione dei nostri dati in uno schema di lavoro per la selezione del testo letterario, utile ad altri insegnanti nella scelta e didattizzazione di libri per l’infanzia.

W świetle kryteriów eklezjalności wskazanych przez List Iuvenescit Ecclesia dla rozeznawania nowych ruchów i wspólnot, szkic przechodzi przez historyczne wydarzenia jednej z najbardziej znanych i szeroko rozpowszechnionych kościelnych rzeczywistości naszych czasów: Ruch Focolari (lub Dzieło Maryi). Rozpatrując okres, w którym był on badany przez Stolicę Apostolską, można zrozumieć, w jaki sposób charyzmat Chiary Lubich utorował sobie drogę w trudny i żmudny sposób. Z dokumentów − o wysokiej wartości duchowej − wyraźnie wyłaniają się dwie nieodzowne cechy prawdziwej rzeczywistości kościelnej: bezwarunkowa przynależność do krzyża i silna komunia z Kościołem.
In the light of the criteria of ecclesiality indicated by the Letter Iuvenescit Ecclesia for the discernment of new movements and communities, the essay goes through the historical events of one of the most well-known and widerspread ecclesial realities of our times: the Focolare Movement (or Work of Mary). Dwelling upon the period in which it was being studied by the Holy See, one can understand how the charism of Chiara Lubich made its way in a difficult and arduous manner. From the documents – of high spiritual value – what emerges clearly are two indispensable characteristics of an authentically ecclesial reality: the unconditional adhesion to the cross and the strong communion with the Church.

The article presents the passage from the traditional defense of the historical value of the gospels (which followed the model of a judicial process in which the trustworthiness of witnesses and the eye-witness character of their testimony had to be proved) to the contemporary discussion, which for approximately the last fifty years has been developing and refining the criteria of historical reliability, in order to proceed to scrutinize each individual gospel text on these bases. His contribution lays out both the strong points and the weak points of the four criteria which end up being the most spendable and produce the most accurate results: the criteria of double dissimilarity, of multiple testimony, of coherence and of historical plausibility or sufficient explanation.
L’articolo presenta il passagio dalla tradizionale difesa del valore storico dei vangeli (che ha seguito il modello di un processo giudiziario in cui l’affidabilità dei testimoni e il carattere oculare della loro testimnianza dovevano essere dimostrati) alla discussione contemporanea che per circa cinquanta ultimi anni ha sviluppato e raffinato i criteri di affidabilità storica, al fine di procedere ad esaminare ogni singolo testo evangelico su queste basi. Il suo contributo espone sia i punti forti che i punti deboli dei quattro criteri che finiscono per essere i più spendibili e produrre i risultati più accurati: i criteri di doppia dissomiglianza, di molteplice attestazione, di coerenza e di plausibilità storica o spiegazione sufficiente.
