    Opis:
    The paper aims to discuss the specific characteristics of Italian employment contract from a linguistic point of view as well as from the point of view of the translation. First of all, the employment contract as a legal document will be discussed in regard to the text classifi cation proposed by Sabatini (1990). Moreover, the general typology of Italian and Polish employment contracts will be taken into consideration. The analysis is complemented by Polish equivalents of the main Italian terms and phrases used usually in the employment contact. The final comments will be dedicated to the issue of translation procedures used for dealing with the translation shifts proposed by Vinay and Darbelnet (1958) and Cosmai (2007).

    Opis:
    This article presents a comparative analysis of both Polish and Italian employments in terms of librarians ‘employment rights. It presents historical conditions related to the legislation of the librarian’s profession in these two countries, as well as provides a comparison of current legislation. The research highlights the differences between the labour rights of librarians in both countries. Furthermore, it elaborates on how the impact of the European Union directives causes the apparent unification of these rights. The research aims to show prevailing the employment rights in Europe, by comparing two different legal and cultural backgrounds. The influence of the EU seems to create basic employment rights scheme in general but does not provide any legislative directions in the area of employment rights for librarians.
    La ricerca svolge un’analisi comparativa fra la legislazione polacca e quella italiana inerente ai diritti della occupazione dei bibliotecari nei due paesi. Le divagazioni sono basate sulle condizioni storiche e quelle attuali del bibliotecario. La ricerca inoltre sottolinea le differenze tra i diritti dei bibliotecari in entrambi i paesi e mostra come l’impatto delle direttive dell’Unione Europea provochi solo l’apparente unificazione di questi diritti. Lo scopo della ricerca infine è mostrare i metodi di occupazione in Europa in generale confrontando due diversi background legali e culturali. L’influenza della legislazione dell’UE sembra a creare soltanto uno schema per i diritti del lavoro nel genere ma non stabilisce norme ne direzioni legislative per i paesi europei, lasciando i diritti dei lavoratori di biblioteche nelle mani dei governi.
