    The architecture of the six Roman baths in Sabratha developed in the second century during the reorganization of the urban space after the earthquake of the Flavian period. They are all well organized in the axial arrangement of the cold and hot baths, with frigidarium as the focus of the structure, served by apodyteria, environments with benches for visitors and latrinae, and also with appropriate paths and well-wishers (the mosaics in the so-called Terme del Teatro) or marble statues (in the latrine of the so-called Terme a mare). The spaces for the hot bath stand out for the sequence of the laconicum, the tepidarium and of the calidarium, independent and equipped with the praefurnia. In the Forum area the ‘Terme a mare’ imposed themselves for its original technical and structural insights aimed at obtaining a building area bigger than the tectonics of the soil could then ensure. The ‘Terme del Teatro’ on their turn spearheaded the experimentation with new analytical techniques aiming at the restitution of the original project.

    Niniejsza praca wymienia sześć kroków, w których można opisać Kościół w kontekście pandemii COVID-19. Jej celem nie jest zatem jakakolwiek ocena reakcji Kościo- łów na kryzys, ale zwrócenie uwagi na dwa obszary: publiczny wymiar Kościoła i jego anachroniczny horyzont. Kościół od momentu swojego rozpoznawalnego początku lokuje się w przestrzeni dyskursu publicznego. Wskazują na to choćby przemówienia św. Piotra i św. Pawła w Dziejach Apostolskich, jak również budowle sakralne, którymi Kościół od IV wieku współtworzy przestrzeń publiczną. Budynki te są często naznaczone wielowiekową historią architektury i przeważnie niezmiennymi wymogami ich użytkowania. Ze względu na solidną konstrukcję kościoły są trwałe i dają możliwość przyszłego wykorzystania i przekształcenia. Ta solidna konstrukcja umożliwia anachroniczne przeżywanie czasu w budynkach kościelnych, w których przecinają się przeszłość, teraźniejszość i przyszłość. Ograniczenia pandemii COVID-19 nie zakłóciły w pełni życia religijnego, ale znacząco zmieniły jego charakter w dwóch aspektach: życie Kościoła przenosi się z przestrzeni publicznej do prywatnej, a liturgia często nie odbywa się już w przestrzeniach kościelnych, lecz w przestrzeni wirtualnej. Chociaż do tej pory publiczny charakter przekonań dawał gwarancję rzetelnej dyskusji i stanowił pomoc w radzeniu sobie z problemami naszych czasów, to teraz stworzył on pewne niebezpieczeństwo. Ponadczasowa dostępność i formowalność wirtualnego pokoju eliminują anachroniczne doświadczenie wiary. Bez względu na to, jaki kształt przybierze w przyszłości odnowa wiary i życia religijnego, to będą one musiały odzyskać publiczny i anachroniczny wymiar.
    The article presents six steps to contextualise the question of the Church’s role during the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal is not to evaluate the churches’ answers to the crisis but to highlight two problem areas: the public dimension and the anachronistic horizon of the Church. Ever since its identifiable beginning, the Church has placed itself in the space of public discourse. The speeches of St Peter and St Paul in the Acts of the Apostles indicate this, as do the sacred buildings with which the Church has contributed to forming public space since the 4th century. These buildings are oftentimes marked by centuries of architectural history and mostly unaltered requirements for their use. Because of the churches’ solid construction, they are durable and have the potential for future use and transformation. This solid construction enables an anachronistic experience of time in church buildings in which the past, the present, and the future intersect. The restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic did not fully disrupt religious life, but they significantly changed its character in two aspects: church life is transferred from public to private space in lockdown scenarios, and liturgy does not primarily take place in church environments any longer but in the virtual space. While the public character of belief has so far guaranteed the debating of and dealing with the respective tendencies of the period, it has also turned into a possible danger. The timeless availability and formability of the virtual room eradicate the anachronistic experience of belief. Whatever shape the renewal of religious life may take on, it will have to win back the public and the anachronistic dimension of belief.

    The article deals with the relationship of sacred Christian art in general with the artist’s spiritual life. According to the author, the truth about sacrum is conditional on the artist’s spiritual life expressed in various forms. He mainly emphasizes the state of prayer, purification, penance and the state described in eastern spirituality as apatheia.

    This paper aims to describe the use of the Forliviamo app, which fosters incidental learning of Italian as L2 through the promotion of the city of Forlì and its surroundings. It will show how the app was used with a two-fold objective: to introduce users to the controversial topic of Fascist architecture and to foster incidental learning of Italian. After a brief portrayal of the context in which the app originated, the theoretical underpinnings that supported the project, and a general description of the app contents and functions, particular attention will be paid to the analysis of the outcomes of testing with international students. The app was evaluated as very useful from a touristic and educational point of view not only to discover architectural heritage and its specialized vocabulary, but also and especially to promote awareness about the existing debate on the controversial legacy of the architecture of totalitarian regimes.
    L’articolo si propone di descrivere l’uso dell’app Forliviamo che favorisce l’apprendimento incidentale dell’italiano come L2 attraverso la promozione della città di Forlì e dei suoi dintorni. Si mostrerà come l’app sia stata utilizzata con un duplice obiettivo: introdurre gli utenti al tema controverso dell’architettura fascista e favorire l’apprendimento incidentale dell’italiano. Dopo una breve descrizione del contesto di sviluppo dell’app, verranno brevemente delineati i fondamenti teorici alla base del progetto. Seguirà una descrizione generale dei contenuti e delle funzioni dell’app. Particolare attenzione sarà dedicata all’analisi dei dati raccolti nell’ambito di una sperimentazione condotta con studenti internazionali, in cui l’app è stata valutata come molto utile dal punto di vista turistico ed educativo non solo per scoprire il patrimonio architettonico e il suo vocabolario specialistico, ma anche e soprattutto per promuovere la consapevolezza del dibattito esistente sulla controversa eredità dell’architettura dei regimi totalitari.
