Vincenzo Consolo, in one of his interviews, said that painting is counterbalance to style in his artistic work. In fact, the fine art is a frequent motif appearing in his works. The novel titled L’olivo e l’olivastro is a great example of this kind of narration since one of the chapters depicts Caravaggio’s stay in Siracusa, as well as the consequences of this fruitful visit. Taking into account the way an olive and a wild olive sprout from the same trunk, so as to be the symbol of everything that is cultivated and what is wild, it should be noted that in the same way the heroes in Caravaggio’s paintings have the features that characterize both human beings and animals. This split is present constantly in artistic work of Caravaggio who broke the cardinal rules set out in painting. As a result, he was called both a scandalmonger and the author of the first painting transgression, as well as a highly provocative artist. Vincenzo Consolo’s prose is thought-provoking and encourages reflection on relativity of goodness and beauty in the real world which is depicted as disappointing. “How come you’re not shipping them??? They’re canon”: a look at the language of Italian fandom – The aim of this article is to examine a relatively recent phenomenon in the language of fandom, i.e. various communities of fans that form around a cultural event or artifact, such as a book, a TV show, a movie, etc. This research is located within fan studies, however, it mainly investigates the linguistic aspects of being a fan in Italian. The distinctive feature of the language of fandom as a specific variety, associated with a particular topic and activity and mediated by Internet communication tools, is a specialist lexicon, understandable only to community members. The article concentrates on loanwords from English which in the case of Italian primarily comprise the vocabulary of fandom.

This paper reaffirms the truth of the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church (CSD) and its impact in the socioeconomic sphere in Western Civilization. Specifically, it seeks to put in order the chaos in which secularized European society currently finds itself. Through Archbishop Giampaolo Crepaldi’s interpretation of CSD, the author dispels erroneous notions of collectivism surrounding private property, productive work, soli-darity, and subsidiarity by arguing that a proper understanding of these principles sup-ports a healthy capitalism, which in turn supports human dignity. Only through a capi-talism in line with a proper understanding of CSD principles can the poor stand to gain the most, provided they have a socioeconomic framework in which they can independ-ently thrive. Liberation theology as a cornerstone of a socioeconomic framework de-stroys the foundation the Church established through the centuries. In the interpretation of the relationship between the CSD and the capitalist economy provided by this paper, the concept of private property emerges as the central nucleus of any human operation, be it cultural, economic, social, or political. Ownership does not only mean possessing material things, but also spiritual elements. Thus ownership also means identity, of a person and of a people. As we enter the third decade of the twenty-first century, the ideology of political correctness—that is, the ideology of the various cultural and po-litical movements of the left—condemns identity as dangerous, a condemnation which furthers the operation of globalization, the homogenization of humanity, and the related attempt to weaken nations in view of a supranational management. If identity is one of the consequences of the concept of property, then this latter must also be banned, as an obstacle on the way to that global dis-identification that would herald a socialization of the Western world. But from the perspective of the main spiritual foundation of the West, that is, of the Judeo-Christian tradition, property is one of the pillars of society, and therefore cannot be suppressed or even undermined. The Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church, founded by Pope Leo XIII and relaunched by Pope John Paul II, is an excellent antidote to the ideological poison of socialism and progressivism now wide-spread in all Western countries.

In primo momento la parabola, nella quale Gesù racconta la storia di un amministratore disonesto (Luca 16,1-9) ci lascia un po’ stupiti. Sembra che Gesù lodi l’uomo, che aveva agito disonestamente. Nell’interpretazione tradizionale gli esegeti propongono la soluzione, secondo cui l’accento non viene posto sulla disonestà, ma sulla prudenza e furbizia dell’amministratore. La soluzione proposta in questa interpretazione prende in considerazione il tema dell’usura. Secondo questa interpretazione l’amministratore priva se stesso dei propri beni per essere accolto a casa dei debitori del suo padrone. In questo caso l’amministratore non agisce in modo disonesto, ma rinuncia al proprio salario. L’interpretazione che tocca il tema dell’usura rimane comunque un’ipotesi, che deve essere ancora rielaborata, perché vi sono ancora, in essa i punti deboli.
Trudność przypowieści o nieuczciwym zarządcy (Łk 16,1-9) polega na tym, że czytelnik odnosi wrażenie, iż Jezus pochwala nieuczciwość. Próby rozwiązania tej trudności winny iść w dwóch kierunkach. Po pierwsze można zatrzymać się jedynie na zasadzie analogii: jak synowie tego świata czynią wszystko (nawet nieuczciwie), by osiągnąć wyznaczony cel, tak synowie światłości winni czynić wszystko (w granicach uczciwości), aby osiągnąć królestwo Boże. Jezus pochwalałby więc nie tyle nieuczciwość, co spryt i pomysłowość w dążeniu do celu. Wierzący również winni kierować się sprytem i pomysłowością, lecz trzymać się przy tym norm moralnych. Rozwiązanie drugie odwołuje się do ekonomicznych zwyczajów Izraela czasów Jezusa. Otóż zarządca dóbr swego pana nie otrzymywał za swą pracę zapłaty pieniężnej, lecz przyjmował prowizję z pożyczanych towarów. Jeśli ktoś pożyczał pięćdziesiąt beczek oliwy, musiał oddać sto, przy czym część (lub cała) nadwyżki stanowiła zapłatę dla zarządcy. Jeśli ktoś pożyczał osiemdziesiąt korcy pszenicy, musiał oddać sto, przy czym część (lub całość) nadwyżki była zapłatą dla zarządcy. W ten sposób zarządca rezygnował ze swojej własności, aby pozyskać sobie życzliwość ludzi i znaleźć u nich pomoc, gdy zostanie zwolniony ze swej posady.

The theme of the “stranger” in the Bible will be approached from the point of view of the relationship between an indigenous group and the “otherness” represented by those who sojourn in a foreign land. The words that the Hebrew language uses for “stranger” testifies to a nuanced perception of this overall category and also a nuanced attitude toward different kinds of “strangers.” The methodology applied is the Social Identity Approach, that focuses on intergroup relationship, and, the concept of Proximate Other. Among the “others,” the biblical Laws’ corpora give particular attention to gēr. The gēr is “other,” but he/she dwells within the Israelite in-group and shares with it his/her everyday life. Nine rules add a motive clause which refers to the experiential background of Jacob’s clan in Egypt. Four of these motive clauses refer to Israelites as gērim and come at the end of rules about only the gēr in Israel’s land. The theological background is expressed in Lev 25:23, which uses the word gērim for the relationship between God and his people. The proposal of the Bible is to bring near the “stranger,” so that the “stranger” is not more an “extraneous.”
