- The work is an attempt to show how the concept of fuoco (fire) is conceptualized in Italian persuasive discourse regarding the health and beauty of women. The conducted research (mainly based on the notion of metaphor by G. Lakoff and M. Johnson) reveals a number of relationships among the analysed concept and many others – related to both the physical and mental sphere of a modern woman. The valuation of fire is also noteworthy, as the fire functions in the linguistic system as a neutral concept, while in the corpus subjected to analysis, depending on the context, it gains positive or negative characteristics.
