Throughout Gabriele d’Annunzio’s vast and multiform productions, Ovid’s presence shines through with the strength of a model both ancient and modern. Since his years at the “Cicognini”, he feels bound to Ovid by a similarity “in lyrical ways” and by a relationship of “consanguinity” based on their common origins. The assiduity in Ovid’s readings, testified to by the large number of volumes of the Augustan poet in the library of the Vittoriale, is reflected in a dense network of echoes – some perspicuous, others subtle – that can be found in the Vate’s most famous works. During his twilight years, d’Annunzio’s nocturnal exploration finds singular affinities with the Ovidian elegies of exile to which he feels attracted the most. Even in the nascent silent film industry, d’Annunzio, creator and forerunner of fashions, sees a prodigious form of visual art that has in Ovid a millenary antecedent. Beyond the unavoidable differences separating the two temporally distant authors, the paper attempts to outline an overall profile of the correspondences and possible equations between d’Annunzio and Ovid without pretense of exhaustiveness. In the wake of perspectives inaugurated by distinguished masters, it is an attempt to offer cues for interpreting, from the vestiges of classicism, d’Annunzio’s art within the Ovidian framework.

The contributions are organized according the following schema: Addenda et corrigenda: small corrections, accidental gaps, methodological inconsistencies, texts to be removed. New texts and new studies: new discoveries (including new fragments of old inscriptions), both in archaeological excavations and in archives and repositories, just published (as imperial inscriptions or not) or still unpublished.

Big activity passed Popes, with the least Francis Bergoglio, is a question about reception their lives and action, especially in times of modern medium broadcasting. Sometimes presented content could be treated as sensation, and their receptiveness deprived of profound historical and theological meaning. This article depends of beginnings of the Church, when it started to organize itself, with well known historically-theological arguments. Peter confessed Jesus as the Christ and got special place among Apostles. His role matures in young Church community, which is escaping from Jewish religion. Peter tramps the way from Jerusalem thru Antioch to Rome, confirming his appointing to the first among Apostles and to being Rock in the Church. Nascent Rome Church keeps this special Peter’s succession. Clement, bishop of Rome, shows his prerogatives as a successor of Peter. Later, bishop of Cartagena, Cyprian, confirms special role both Peter and each bishop of Rome among other bishops. He also was finding appropriate role for each of them. Church institution, based on Peter and Apostles persists and shows truth of the beginnings and faithfulness to them in nowadays papacy. Methodological elements Presented in the introduction let for the lecture of Gospel and patristic texts without positivistic prejudices presented in old literature of the subject.

This essay is based on one of the ORMETE (Oralità Memoria Teatro: www.ormete.net) projects: Donne di teatro a Roma ai tempi della mobilitazione femminista (1965–1985). The research shows the inter-relations between the feminist movement and the actresses of the avant-garde scene in Rome. The focus of each of the women’s personal narrations is characterised by its strong and definite feminist or anti-conformist identity and by its determination to channel its own imagery in the experimental scene of the avant-garde. Many of the women gathered in feminist companies or joined collective groups; some ventured the road of dramaturgy, while still others dared more alternative, experimental kinds of solo performances. This text sheds light on a variety of alternative spaces for performances in Rome. It is there where these new forms of theatrical expressions were born.
L’intervento, che attinge a una ricerca in corso nel quadro di ORMETE (Oralità Memoria Teatro: www.ormete.net) Donne di teatro a Roma ai tempi della mobilitazione femminista (1965– –1985), cerca di mettere a fuoco gli intrecci fra mobilitazioni femministe e protagonismo delle attrici a Roma, fra il 1974 e il 1979. L’affermazione di un’identità femminile forte e anticonformista caratterizza il racconto di tutte queste donne, determinate a trovare la strada per esprimere il proprio immaginario e la propria diversa presenza nel mondo romano della ricerca teatrale. Molte si sono associate in compagnie o collettivi, alcune hanno tentato la strada della drammaturgia, altre hanno scelto la forma della performance più trasgressiva. L’indagine mette l’accento sui molti luoghi di Roma dove i diversi linguaggi scenici hanno trovato la luce.

The artistic activity of Tadeusz Kuntze, nicknamed ‘Taddeo Polacco’ (Zielona Góra 1727 – Rome1793) has not as yet been properly evaluated, despite him having been one of the most prolific painters active in Rome from the mid-1760s to the 1780s. An attempt at placing Kuntze’s creative accomplishments in a broader context of artistic interconnections and influences has been made. Among the latter, it is Kuntze’s bonds with the Spanish colony in Rome that are of special importance, particularly the impact of his art on the formation of young Francisco Goya. A separate, however not less important issue is the influence of the Polish artist on the Madrazo family of painters whose members played a key role in 19th-century Spanish art.
Artystyczna działalność Tadeusza Kuntzego, zwanego „Taddeo Polacco” (Zielona Góra 1727 – Rzym 1793), nie doczekała się do tej pory odpowiedniej oceny, mimo że był on jednym z  bardziej płodnych malarzy aktywnych w Rzymie od połowy lat 60. do 80. XVIII w. Artykuł jest próbą umiejscowienia twórczych osiągnięć Kuntzego w szerszym kontekście artystycznych powiązań i oddziaływań. Wśród tych ostatnich na szczególną uwagę zasługują związki Kuntzego z kolonią hiszpańską w Rzymie, a przede wszystkim znaczenie jego sztuki dla formacji młodego Francisca Goi. Osobnym, nie mniej istotnym zagadnieniem, jest oddziaływanie twórczości polskiego artysty na dynastię malarzy Madrazo, której przedstawiciele odegrali kluczową rolę w sztuce hiszpańskiej XIX w.

Il beato Ludwik Mzyk è il primo martire della Provincia Polacca SVD, creata nel 1935. Dopo i suoi studi all’Università Gregoriana a Roma, P. Mzyk e stato nominato primo maestro dei novizi di questa provincia a Chludowo. La sua personalità presentata in tre parti, appare come un esempio straordinario di una vita totalmente dedicata a Dio nel servizio dei futuri missionari della Parola di Dio. La prima parte presenta cronologicamente i momenti salienti della vita del Beato. La seconda parte basata sulla sua corrispondenza mette in rilievo alcuni aspetti della personalità nella ottica delle relazioni con gli altri, particolarmente con Padre Josef Grendel, il Superiore Generale della Congregazione. Infine, la terza parte, getta una luce sul suo profilo spirituale, che rispecchia principalmente la spiritualità della Congregazione. La sua spiritualità si evidenzia prima di tutto nell’osservazione dei voti religiosi, nella fedeltà alle Costituzione della Congregazione. Nonostante i costanti problemi di salute, P. Mzyk affascinava gli altri con la sua calma e grande prudenza. La sua persona si distingueva per lo straordinario sacrificio - un dono di sé per gli altri. La sua spiritualità basata sull’Eucaristia era segnata da profonda devozione allo Spirito Santo e a Maria, la sua Sposa. L’eroica morte di P. Mzyk ha confermato la sua vita, che ha fatto una grande impressione sui suoi allievi, convinti della sua santità.
Blessed Ludwik Mzyk was the first martyr of the newly created (1935) Polish Province of the Society of the Divine Word. After finishing his studies in Rome he was appointed novice master in Chludowo. The first part of this essay is a chronological account of his life and work. The second one traces his character and interpersonal skills in his extant correspondence, especially with the then superior general, Fr. J. Grendel. The final part of the essay describes his spirituality, deeply immersed in the SVD charisma and informed by his religious vows and SVD constitutions. Despite recurring health problems, Fr Ludwik was always remarkably peaceful and prudent, always ready to sacrifice himself for others. His spirituality was based on Eucharist and great devotion to the Holy Spirit and His Spouse. In his martyrdom he gave credence to what he preached. His lifestyle greatly influenced his pupils and convinced many that he was indeed a saint.
Błogosławiony Ludwik Mzyk jest pierwszym męczennikiem (utworzonej w 1935 roku) Polskiej Prowincji Zgromadzenia Słowa Bożego. Po ukończeniu studiów w Rzymie został mistrzem nowicjatu w Chudowie. Sylwetka o. Mzyka przedstawiona jest w trzech odsłonach: pierwsza ukazuje chronologicznie ważne etapy życia błogosławionego; druga akcentuje niektóre aspekty jego osobowości w relacjach interpersonalnych na bazie korespondencji, zwłaszcza z Przełożonym Generalnym Zgromadzenia ojcem J. Grendlem; trzecia przybliża jego profil duchowy, będący dobitnym odzwierciedleniem duchowości Zgromadzenia Słowa Bożego. Duchowość o. Mzyka była przede wszystkim osadzona na ślubach zakonnych i zachowywaniu Konstytucji Zgromadzenia. Mimo ciągłych problemów ze zdrowiem odznaczał się spokojem i rozwagą. Postać o. Ludwika emanuje zadziwiającą ofiarnością, darem siebie dla innych. Jego duchowość była oparta na Eucharystii oraz wielkiej czci Ducha Świętego i Jego Oblubienicy. Ojciec Mzyk heroiczną śmiercią męczeńską uwiarygodnił to, co głosił. Życie błogosławionego robiło wielkie wrażenie na jego wychowankach i przekonało wielu o jego świętości.

The Church of St Stanislaus the Bishop and Martyr in Rome is the national church of Poland, where the funeral ceremonies of Polish rulers were celebrated. After the death of King John III Sobieski, ceremonial symbolic obsequies were held. Carlo Barberini, as cardinal protector of Poland, organized public and expensive ceremonies to properly honour the king’s death. The course of the funeral service and the funeral decoration are known in detail through three contemporary printed reports and an engraving describing every aspect of the ceremony and the decoration of the church in honour of the Polish king. The church was decorated with six painted medallions celebrating important events in the life of King John III Sobieski. The surviving four of the six medallions are now kept at the Galleria Nazionale di Arte Antica in the Palazzo Barberini in Rome. In 2018, researcher Giovan Battista Fidanza found documents in the Barberini family archives regarding the cost of the ceremony. According to sources, the artist who made the six funerary oval paintings was Giacomo Wernele, which indicates an Italianization of the name Philip Jakob Wörndle. Currently, the state of preservation of the oval funerary canvases is poor. It is imperative to preserve the paintings in order to save them from destruction and make them available for museum display.
San Stanislao dei Polacchi a Roma è la chiesa nazionale dove si svolgevano le commemorazioni funebri dei sovrani polacchi. Ciò avvenne anche per la morte del re Jan III Sobieski. Carlo Barberini, in qualità di cardinale protettore della Polonia, organizzò nella chiesa una imponente cerimonia per onorare adeguatamente la memoria del re. La funzione religiosa e il suo apparato decorativo sono noti in ogni dettaglio grazie a tre relazioni a stampa coeve e a un’incisione che ne descrivono ogni aspetto. La chiesa era anche ornata con sei medaglioni dipinti che esaltavano eventi importanti della vita del re. Incredibilmente, quattro dei sei medaglioni sono arrivati fino a noi. I “Medaglioni Sobieski” sono attualmente conservati nei depositi della Galleria Nazionale di Arte Antica di Palazzo Barberini a Roma. G.B. Fidanza (2018) ha trovato negli archivi della famiglia Barberini documenti relativi ai pagamenti effettuati per la cerimonia. In questi documenti, come artista dei sei tondi compare il nome “Giacomo Wernele”, italianizzazione del nome Philip Jakob Wörndle. Attualmente lo stato di conservazione delle tele è piuttosto scadente. Per evitare che vadano perdute per sempre, è necessario restaurarle con cura quanto prima e riportarle nelle loro cornici.
