- During the 1990s and at the beginning of the 21st century the confix euro- was part of the linguistic interest of many researchers. Its high frequency, the interesting culture-bound expansion of its semantic extent, and the development of its special functional use, all clearly and evidently distinct in comparison to German, made euro- a very popular lexical unit in many linguistic studies concerning the Polish language. Today, twenty years later, this confix still shows a high frequency in Polish; numerous compounds, containing euro- as a first constituent, can nowadays be characterised as inherent parts of Polish lexis. The special semantic spectrum and the pragmatic meaning of this confix make it necessary to consider euro- in a bilingual (general-language) dictionary. The current paper aims to show how the confix euro- is considered in different dictionaries today. Its lexicographical entry in monolingual dictionaries needs to be analysed to establish the basis for its consideration in bilingual dictionaries. It will become clear that some dictionaries call more attention to euro-, while in others euro- plays only a very marginal role or none at all. However, a satisfying and sufficient lexicographical fixation of euro- in mono- and bilingual dictionaries is still missing at present.
