Opis:: The following article considers the concept of the trichotomous arrangement of codeprocesses involved in acquiring foreign languages. It particularly focuses on the site, course, and results of processes whereby foreign-language structures are encoded. The processes of encoding known foreign-language structures take place: first, during the completion of consolidating exercises that aim at attaining appropriate proficiency; second, in the course of decoding and coding foreign-language information; and third, in the course of ego-centered communicative processes, in which the language user fulfills the function both of sender and of receiver.

Nicht nur die sprachlichen Abweichungen des Ethnolekts dem Standarddeutschen gegenüber, sondern auch dessen Vorläufer, historische Bedingungen samt ihren linguistischen Manifestationen werden hier aufgegriffen und näher beleuchtet.
The subject of this paper is a mixed variant of German which arose in large urban agglomerations with participation of mixed youth, indigenous German youth and youth of German lineage. The text outlines historical phenomena, and also linguistic theories which underlie and account for the diversity of mixed code with regard to the standard language.

Opis:: The discussion addresses the linguistic code and its contribution to the development of the codematic theory of foreign-language teaching. This theory deals with the essence and properties of the course of processes of coding and decoding foreign-language structures. Teachers and learners participate in these processes as primary and secondary senders and receivers of transmitted lexical-grammatical structures with the aim of learners’ mastering them. The process of learning and mastering foreign-language structures takes place in two stages, that is, during their decoding and construction in the form of structural matrices in the receiver’s appropriate memory. In this way, in the receiver (learner) there forms a warehousing mechanism with regard to the foreign language. This mechanism is equipped with a receptive and (re)productive functioning force, that is a force that activates the structural matrices. Structural matrices in long-term memory attain the appropriate force of activation, and therefore demand constantly being brought up to date in various syntagmatic-syntactic constructions, that is in the process of their encoding.

Opis:: Code-switching or code-mixing in spoken language is quite common. Can code-mixing also occur in a written form of a language, such as in a newspaper article, in a short story, or in a translation? This paper examines the use of code-mixing in the translation of a German short story into Marathi. Marathi is an Indo-European language that is recognized as one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. The article analyses whether code-mixing is used in the Marathi translation of the German short story when no other equivalents are available in the target language i.e., in Marathi or is it more of a thoughtful choice even if equivalents exist in the target language. With relevant examples, this empirical analysis further investigates the role of code-mixing in the Marathi translation of the German short story, “Der hellgraue Frühjahrsmantel” written by Wolfgang Hildesheimer (1962). The title of the translated text reads “राखाडी स्प्रिंगजाकीट” (rākhādī springjākīṭ, 2017). With this analysis, the article presents some remarkable characteristics of both the Indian language Marathi, its linguistic context and culture. The analysis can stimulate interest in Marathi and could also be useful in further research in the areas of code mixing or code switching in translation.
Code-Switching oder Code-Mixing beim Sprechen ist weit verbreitet. Kann aber Code-Mixing auch in einer schriftlichen Form, wie in einem Zeitungsartikel, in einer Kurzgeschichte oder in einer Übersetzung vorkommen? In diesem Beitrag wird der Gebrauch von Code-Mixing in der Übersetzung einer deutschen Kurzgeschichte ins Marathi untersucht. Marathi ist eine indoeuropäische Sprache, die sich als eine der 22 offiziellen Sprachen Indiens ausmacht. Der Beitrag analysiert, ob Code-Mixing in der Marathi-Übersetzung einer deutschen Kurzgeschichte eingesetzt wird, wenn keine anderen Äquivalente in der Zielsprache, d. h. im Marathi verfügbar sind, oder ob es eher eine durchdachte Auswahl ist, selbst wenn Äquivalente in der Zielsprache existieren. Des Weiteren wird es untersucht und mit treffenden Beispielen1 belegt, welche Rolle Code-Mixing in der vorliegenden Übersetzung der deutschen Kurzgeschichte spielt. Der Beitrag analysiert die aus dem Deutschen ins Marathi übersetzte Kurzgeschichte „Der hellgraue Frühjahrsmantel“ von Wolfgang Hildesheimer (1962) unter dem Titel „rākhādī springjākīṭ“ (2017). Dieser Beitrag soll einige bemerkenswerte Charakteristika sowohl der indischen Sprache Marathi als auch deren Sprachraums und Kultur zeigen. Des Weiteren kann diese Untersuchung nicht nur das Interesse an Marathi erwecken, sondern auch bei weiterer Forschung in den Bereichen Code-Mixing oder Code-Switching bei der Übersetzung behilflich sein.
