    Opis:
    The purpose of the paper is to present theoretical and methodological aspects of the research project EUROJOS, which is anchored and developed in Lublin ethnolinguistics. It aims to create the cognitive definition of the selected concepts, regarded as values in the European culture. The cognitive definition is based on 3 types of data: lexicographical sources, surveys and text corpora, with the latest playing a crucial role at profiling the concepts. The methodological criteria are indicated as validated by the description of chosen results from other research papers regarding the concept WORK in some languages and the concept DEMOCRACY in Polish and German. Whereas the study of the concept WORK objects to demonstrate the all-embracing definition of the concept, its universal meaning aspects, the example of DEMOCRACY shows the relevancy of profiling, thus also of the role of public discourse and the media.
    Artykuł przedstawia zagadnienia teoretyczne i metodologiczne projektu naukowego EUROJOS zakorzenionego i rozwijanego w etnolingwistyce lubelskiej. Jego celem jest zbudowanie definicji kognitywnej określonych konceptów postrzeganych w kulturze europejskiej jako wartości. Definicja kognitywna oparta jest o trzy typy danych: leksykograficzne, ankietowe i tekstowe, z których te ostatnie odgrywają kluczową rolę w profilowaniu konceptów. Na podstawie opisu wybranych wyników badań nad konceptem PRACA w niektórych językach oraz nad konceptem DEMOKRACJA w języku polskim i niemieckim ukazana zostaje zasadność założeń metodologicznych. Analiza konceptu PRACA posłużyła do zilustrowania syntetycznej definicji kognitywnej konceptu, jego uniwersalnych aspektów znaczeniowych, natomiast na przykładzie konceptu DEMOKRACJA pokazana została relewancja profilowania, a tym samym rola dyskursu publicznego i mediów

    Opis:
    Artykuł – rozumiany jako pierwsza część analizy i prezentacji tematu – opisuje wielowymiarowość pojęcia tłumaczenia. Przytoczone przykłady wskazują na doniosłą rolę tłumaczy w rozwoju cywilizacji europejskiej oraz na rangę ich pracy. Tłumaczenie zostało zdefiniowane z różnych perspektyw: opisu poetyckiego, relacji tekstu źródłowego do tekstu docelowego, relacji do producenta i odbiorcy tekstu, a także z perspektywy zastosowania w różnych kanałach informacyjnych i stanowi fascynujący obiekt badawczy. Jest bez wątpienia wielowymiarowe i wielofunkcyjne. Poetycki opis procesu tłumaczenia rzuca nowe, interesujące światło na pracę tłumacza i jej przebieg, a metafory nadają mu cech czynności niemal mistycznej.
    Der Artikel – verstanden als erster Teil der Analyse und Darstellung des Themas – beschreibt die Mehrdimensionalität des Übersetzungsbegriffs. Die angeführten Beispiele zeigen die bedeutende Rolle der Übersetzer in der Entwicklung der europäischen Zivilisation und die Bedeutung ihrer Arbeit. Die Übersetzung wurde aus verschiedenen Perspektiven definiert: poetische Beschreibung, Bezug des Ausgangstextes zum Zieltext, Bezug zum Produzenten und Empfänger des Textes, sowie aus der Perspektive seiner Verwendung in verschiedenen Informationskanälen und stellt ein faszinierendes Forschungsobjekt dar, das zweifellos multidimensional und multifunktional ist. Die poetische Beschreibung des Übersetzungsprozesses wirft ein neues und interessantes Licht auf die Arbeit des Übersetzers und ihren Verlauf und die Metaphern verleihen ihr die Merkmale der fast mystischen Tätigkeit.

    Opis:
    Fachsprachen erfüllen neben einer referentiellen und einer appellativen Funktion eine ganze Reihe an weiteren Funktionen: Diese neun bzw. elf Funktionen werden in dem vorliegenden Beitrag auf der Grundlage einer Überarbeitung des Modells fachlicher Kommunikation von Roelcke bestimmt und anhand des Beispiels einer Fortbildung aus dem IT-Bereich exemplifiziert. Dabei wird eine symptomatische Funktion auf den Produzenten, eine appellative Funktion auf den Rezipienten des fachlichen Textes bezogen, während der spezialisierte Kontext und das spezialisierte Wissen mit einer referentiellen bzw. einer epistemischen Funktion in Verbindung gebracht werden. Der fachliche Text selbst erfüllt eine ästhetische Funktion. Mit dem fachlichen Zeichensystem ist eine semiotische, mit dem Kommunikationsmedium eine phatische Funktion verbunden. Der sprachliche Kotext, in dem die betreffende Kommunikation stattfindet, erfüllt hier eine diskursive Funktion, der allgemeine, nicht sprachliche Kontext demgegenüber (je nach Breite) eine situative, soziale oder kulturelle Funktion. Über die Bestimmung und Erläuterung dieser fachkommunikativen Funktionen hinaus wird in dem Beitrag eine handlungstheoretisch begründete Bestimmung von Fachlichkeit fachlicher Kommunikation vorgenommen, von der aus eine referentielle, eine soziologische und eine linguistische Bestimmung abgeleitet werden.
    In addition to the referential and appellative function, languages for special purposes fulfill a whole series of other functions: These nine or eleven functions are determined in this paper on the basis of a revision of Roelcke’s model of specialized communication and illustrated by the example of an advanced training course in the IT field. The symptomatic function is related to the producer, the appellative function to the recipient of the specialized text, while the specialized context and the specialized knowledge are related to the referential and epistemic function, respectively. The specialized text itself fulfills the aesthetic function. The semiotic function is associated with the specialized sign system, and the phatic function with the communication medium. The linguistic cotext in which the communication in question takes place fulfills a discursive function here, the general, non-linguistic context on the other hand (depending on the breadth) a situational, social or cultural function. Besides the definition and explanation of these professional communicative functions, the article provides an action-theory-based definition of the specialized nature of specialized communication, from which a referential, sociological and linguistic definitions are derived.
