1861 wurde in Toruń ein deutsches Museum eröffnet - das Städtische Museum. Darin wurden Sammlungen der Stadtgemeinde Toruń und des örtlichen Copernicus-Vereins für Wissenschaft und Kunst ausgestellt. 1896 wurde Arthur Semrau (1862-1940), Lehrer am Toruner Gymnasium, zum ersten offiziellen Leiter des Museums bestellt. Das Museum verdankte ihm die Neuorganisation seiner Aktivitäten, die Erweiterung der Sammlung und deren wissenschaftliche Bearbeitung. Semrau nahm Kontakt zu anderen Museumsmitarbeitern in Deutschland auf, und seine Aktivitäten belegen seine Kenntnis der Veränderungen in den Berliner Museen um die Wende des 19. Jh.. In dem Beitrag wurde hauptsächlich Entwicklung der Gipsabgußsammlung und die Neugestaltung der kultur-historischen Sammlungen in Toruń besprochen. Die Entwicklung des Museums unter der Leitung von Semrau wurde vor dem Hintergrund der Diskussionen über öffentliche Sammlungen in Deutschland und der Veränderungen in diesem Bereich vornehmlich in Berlin gezeigt.
In 1861, a German museum was opened in Toruń - the City Museum (Städtisches Museum). It displayed the collections of the Toruń Municipal Commune and the local Copernicus Science and Art Association (Copernicus-Verein für Wissenschaft und Kunst). In 1896, Arthur Semrau (1862-1940), a teacher at the Toruń gymnasium, became the first official curator of the museum. The museum owed him the reorganization of its activities, expansion of the collection and its scientific studies. Semrau contacted other museum workers from Germany, and his actions prove his familiarity with the changes in Berlin's museums at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The text mainly discusses the development of the plaster cast collection and the reconstruction of the cultural and historical collection in Toruń. The development of the museum under the leadership of Semrau was shown in the context of the discussions on public collections taking place in Germany and the changes in this field taking place primarily in Berlin.
W 1861 r. otwarto w Toruniu niemieckie muzeum - Muzeum Miejskie (Städtisches Museum). Prezentowano w nim zbiory toruńskiej Gminy Miejskiej i miejscowego Kopernikowskiego Stowarzyszenia Nauki i Sztuki (Copernicus-Verein für Wissenschaft und Kunst). W 1896 r. pierwszym oficjalnym kustoszem muzeum został Arthur Semrau (1862-1940), nauczyciel w toruńskim gimnazjum. Muzeum zawdzięczało mu reorganizację swojej działalności, rozbudowę kolekcji oraz jej naukowe opracowanie. Semrau kontaktował się z innymi muzealnikami z Niemiec, a jego działania dowodzą znajomości zmian w berlińskim muzealnictwie na przełomie XIX i XX wieku. W tekście omówiono przede wszystkim rozwój kolekcji odlewów gipsowych oraz przebudowę zbiorów kulturalno-historycznych w Toruniu. Rozwój muzeum pod wodzą Semrau’a pokazano w kontekście toczonych w Niemczech dyskusji nad zbiorami publicznymi oraz przemian na tym polu dokonywanych przede wszystkim w Berlinie. - Źródło:
