Opis:: The Polish–German Treaty of Good Neighbourship and Friendly Cooperation of June 17, 1991 refers to the topics and rules of the Joint Declaration of November 14, 1989. During this period, the efforts to establish an international youth meeting place in the former estate of the anti-Nazi oppositionist Helmuth James von Moltke in Kreisau (Krzyżowa) in Lower Silesia were intensified. The article analyzes this example of mutual interactions between civil society initiative and government diplomacy.

Opis:: Das Ziel des Beitrages ist es, auf die Spezifik des Argumentierens in den Gedenkreden, die sich auf grenzübergreifende, hier die deutsch‑polnische Versöhnung beziehen, einzugehen. Es werden in der Arbeit zwei Gedenkreden analysiert, die am 20. November 2014 anlässlich des 25. Jahrestages der deutsch‑polnischen Versöhnungsmesse in Kreisau/Krzyżowa von der deutschen sowie der polnischen Regierungschefin gehalten wurden. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, wie die Versöhnungsmesse als Ereignis in beiden Reden sprachlich konzeptualisiert und argumentativ funktionalisiert wurde.
The aim of the article is to address the specific characteristics of argumentation in commemorative speeches that refer to cross‑border reconciliation (here: the German‑Polish case). The paper analyses two commemorative speeches given by the German and Polish heads of government on 20th November 2014 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the German‑Polish reconciliation mass in Kreisau/Krzyżowa. The central question is how the reconciliation mass as an event was conceptualized linguistically and functionalised argumentatively in both speeches.

Opis:: W procesie pojednania niemiecko-polskiego po II wojnie światowej duże znaczenie odegrali przedstawiciele Kościołów. Niniejszy artykuł analizuje wypowiedzi teologiczne zawarte w dokumentach Kościoła dotyczących relacji polsko-niemieckich w latach 1965–1995 i przyporządkowuje ich do teologii pojednania. Ukazuje to motywacje zaangażowania chrześcijańskiego na rzecz przepracowania przeszłości w służbie przezwyciężenia wrogości i nienawiści między obydwoma narodami. Wiara w pojednanie z Bogiem zostaje podniesiona w teologicznie odpowiedniej relacji do społecznego pojednania. Przedmiotem badań stały się następujące dokumenty: Położenie wypędzonych i stosunek narodu niemieckiego do wschodnich sąsiadów. Ewangelickie memorandum (1965), wymiana listów między biskupami polskimi i niemieckimi (1965), Memorandum katolików niemieckich w sprawie zagadnień polsko-niemieckich opracowane przez Bensberger Kreis (1968), O wolność, sprawiedliwość i pokój w Europie. Oświadczenie katolików polskich i niemieckich w pięćdziesiątą rocznicę wybuchu II wojny światowej (1989), kazanie bp. Alfonsa Nossola podczas Mszy św. pojednania w Krzyżowej (1989) oraz Wspólne słowo polskich i niemieckich biskupów z okazji 30. rocznicy wymiany listów (1995).
Members of the Christian Churches considerably influenced the German-Polish reconciliation process after the Second World War. This article analyzes the theological statements in important Church documents dealing with German-Polish relations from 1965 until 1995. It integrates these elements into a theology of reconciliation. This highlights the theological background and the religious motivations of the actors and their Christian commitment for facing the past and dealing with it, in order to overcome hatred and enmity between the two nations. The article establishes a theological correlation between the reconciliation with God and social reconciliation. The following sources have been analyzed: The Eastern Memorandum of the Evangelical Church in Germany (1965), the exchange of letters between the Polish and the German bishops (1965), the Bensberg Memorandum (1968), The Declaration of Polish and German Catholics (1989), the homily of Bishop Alfons Nossol during the Kreisau Reconciliation Mass (1989), and the Joint Declaration of the German and Polish Bishops’ Conferences (1995).
