The work of a physician is based on two pillars: scientific knowledge and technical expertise being one of them, the humanities, ethics and philosophy the other. The former is taught at medical school, the latter is often neglected. Of fundamental importance are the classical philosophical questions about what is life and what is human being. Those cannot be answered by a natural scientific approach alone. For this reason and in view of the preponderance of technology in the daily routine in clinics, many medical students and physicians would like to be offered an optional subject which focuses on those philosophical problems: a training in anthropology and philosophy, called Philosophicum. To meet this demand, the University Hospital of Würzburg has been offering a Philosophicum ever since 2010 (www.philosophicum.ukw.de).

Strained living conditions in modern society, leading to the appearance of different negative mental states of the personality, in many ways determine the necessity for the investigation of the phenomenon of psychological (emo- tional) burned out of people. "The phenomenon of being burned out is a complicated Mehrebenensymp- tomatologie of soul loss as a result of permanent psychological tension in emotionally or cognitively complex situations of professional interaction with other people before". We propose an approach to the study of the syndrome of mental burnout of the positions o the neoclassical Eroläuterung the dual human nature. The essence of unconventional view of the dual nature of human nature after a short run down to this. Man as such has two factors. In a man, so to speak coexist two people - "a man in general" and "one man". These factors are in the dialectic. "A man in general" is the ability of man as such the fundamental need of human life ever to have in an abstract concrete insensible of it form and to satisfy, but perceived and understood in the vicinity of the individuals of it as something individual of the human race , especially him absolutely similar, but in the same time also it absolutely strange.

Is Heidegger’s philosophy of Being (Seyn) a mystique? In this article I examine whether late Heidegger’s philosophy (Gesamtausgabe volumes 65–74) can be called a mysticism. For serious reasons the answer should be negative. Heidegger’s early statements relating to the mystique are very unflattering. I try to grasp what the Heidegger’s exact attitude to the mystique is. Reflections on the mystique do not appear in late Heidegger’s philosophy (with one exception). Heidegger treats the term “mysticism” as an objection to thinking, which consists in masking a lack of understanding of thinking. According to the immanent criteria, the philosophy of Being cannot be called the mystique. But it is possible to transpose the concept of the mystique, which means to carry the word from the first in another beginning. The second part of my work is an attempt at such a transposition. As a result I obtain the word “mysticism” conceived from the side of Being, that is as a source for mysticism conceived in the traditional way. So I can say that the philosophy of Being is a mystique in this particular sense of this word.

The following article is based on a discussion of the concept of dignity, Both, the criticism and the different concepts will be discussed. If the concept of human dignity should not only replace an empty formula, human dignity has to be analysed with regards to content. Based on the more detailed analysis it is proved that human dignity is interpreted and used in different ways. It is not only valid for the relationship between the nation and the citizens, which is the original reason why it is arranged at the beginning of the fundamental rights, but also indirectly for the relationship of the citizens among themselves. The human being is endowed with reason and conscience and therefore a morally responsible subject – a person. For this reason human dignity is bestowed on human. Afterwards it will be considered whether all human own dignity or if it depends on belongings of certain characteristics.

The notion of wisdom in Schopenhauer’s grasp is analyzed in two different perspectives. First, in the context of early philosophy with the supreme term “better consciousness” (das bessere Bewußtsein). The crowning achievement of this period was The World as Will and Representation and radically formulated cognitive elitism. Second, in the context of Parerga and Paralipomena essays, in particular the Aphorisms on the Wisdom of Life essay, when Schopenhauer transforms himself from a metaphysician and a Buddhist into a moralist and teacher of life’s wisdom, who teaches what to do to minimize the suffering of our lives. This shift of accents was connected with the thorough reading of B. Gracian’s The Art of Worldly Wisdom. A Pocket Oracle. Gracian did not teach how to free oneself from the world, but how to live in a world full of evil, adversity, intrigues and wickedness.
Schopenhauers Weisheitsbegriff wurde aus zwei verschiedenen Perspektiven analysiert. Erstens, im Kontext der frühen Philosophie, wo „das bessere Bewusstsein“ eine Schlüsselrolle spielte. Der Höhepunkt dieser Zeit waren das Werk Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung und radikal formulierte philosophische Exklusivität. Zweitens, im Kontext von Essays-Sammlung Parerga und Paralipomena, und besonders einem der Essays Aphorismen zur Lebensweisheit, wo sich Schopenhauer vom Metaphysiker und Buddhisten in den Moralisten und den Lehrer vervandelte, der die Verfahrensregeln in der irrationalen Welt des Willens zeigte, so dass das Leid die geringste Teilnahme an der realen Existenz des Menschen hatte. Diese Akzentverschiebung erfolgte vor allem dank der gründlichen und tiefen Lektüre von Baltasar Gracians Das Hand-Orakel und Kunst der Weltklugheit. Gracian lehrte aber an keiner Stelle, wie man sich von der Welt befreien kann, sondern eher wie man in einer Welt des Bösen, voll von Gegensätzen, Intrigen und Niederträchtigkeiten leben kann.

The article first outlines Edmund Husserl’s idea of “complete transformation” (völlige Umwendung) and the philosophy of “the turn” (Kehre) of Martin Heidegger. In the following chapter it is shown that you can understand both Husserl as well as Heidegger in the light of “the essential turn” in the German mysticism of the fourteenth century. In this way it becomes clear that Husserl’s idea of a “complete transformation” seems to be a forgotten “mystical” impetus of phenomenology, which was much more realized by Martin Heidegger than by Husserl. In this way Heidegger’s philosophy of “the turn” appears as an important modern approach of the mystical philosophy of transformation.

Śmierć jest jednym z ważniejszych tematów filozoficznych już od czasów antycznych. Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą analizy ostatniego dzieła Boecjusza Consolatio philosophiae właśnie w kontekście problematyki śmierci. Artykuł dzieli się na dwie części, w których autor najpierw stara się przedstawić punkt widzenia poprzedników Boecjusza. Wśród nich do najważniejszych postaci należą: Platon, Plotyn, św. Augustyn i Proklos. Dzięki temu w drugiej części analiza fragmentów Consolatio… odnoszących się do śmierci, zyskuje swoją głębię i zarazem jasność.
Death has been one of the major themes of philosophy since the ancient times. The article attempts to analyze last works of Boethius Consolatio philosophiae with particular reference to this subject. It is divided into two parts in which the author tries to present Boethius predecessors’ point of view such as Plato, Plotinus, St. Augustine and Proclus. Consequently, the second part of the fragments’ enquiry related to death finds its depth and clarity.

Opis:
Current thinking is strongly oriented towards the logos and sees the need for demythologizing. The myth seems to belong to past forms of consciousness that belong to a "naive" worldview. Today's thinking, however, has to be based on the ratio in still in the tradition of Descartes. Based on Paul Ricoeurs' philosophy of reflection, this article aims to show that the integration of  symbolic forms like the myth but also poetry into today's thinking should not be understood as a departure from the logos, but rather as its expansion with ontological relevance. Finally, it should be explored to what extent such a way of thinking proves to be productive for educational processes.

The concept of life as a gift is considered one of the basic theological categories of Christian interpretation of the man. The given paper, starting from the specific life experiences of donating and basing on the philosophy of a gift, particularly enriched by Emanuel Levinas’s thought, is to work out elementary theological expression of understanding life as a gift and check their theological-ethical implications. Interpreting life as a gift means adopting it as an expression of the original “yes” that God spoke to me over my life and answering to God’s “yes” as to prove that I accept my life as a gift fully devoting myself. Accepting life as a gift in love devotion is the particular imitation of Christ. On the base of three current issues – unwanted childlessness, adopting a disabled child, as well as organ donation - the results are realized and bioethical meaning of understanding life as a gift is shown.

Der doppeldeutige Titel von Kehlmanns Roman in neun Geschichten verweist auf das zentrale Thema des Buches. Es geht um die Frage, ob der Ruhm von Literatur und Philosophie im virtuellen ‚room‘ der Kommunikationstechnologie zu verblassen droht. Der vorliegende Aufsatz versteht Kehlmanns Werk als Versuch, die neue Welt des Cyberspace in alter Manier zu beschreiben und so die unverminderte Wirkkraft der Tradition zu zeigen.
The ambiguous German title of Daniel Kehlmann’s Novel in Nine Episodes exposes its central theme. It is the question whether the ‚Fame‘ (Ruhm) of literature und philosophy is fading in the virtual ‚room‘ created by modern communication techniques. The present essay understands Kehlmann’s novel as an attempt to describe the new world of cyberspace in the old way, thus demonstrating the undiminished power of tradition.
Dwuznaczny niemiecki tytuł tej Powieści w dziewięciu odsłonach odnosi się do przewodniego tematu książki. Rozważa kwestię, czy w ‚cyberprzestrzeni‘ (‚room‘) technologii komunikacyjnej ‚sława‘ (Ruhm) literatury lub filozofii jest zagrożona przeminięciem. Niniejsze opracowanie ujmuje dzieło Kehlmanna jako próbę opisania nowego wirtualnego świata starymi sposobami, aby pokazać niesłabnącą moc tradycji.

The question concerning the view of Hugo Etherianus (Eteriano) is placed here in a broader context of the processes that shaped and reshaped the Byzantine culture model between the 11th and the 12th century. The newly formed culture determined the cultural situation after the fall of Constantinople in 1204 and remained valid until the end of the Byzantine period. Characterizing the Byzantines relation to the West was the key component of this model. During various theological and philosophical debates between Latin and Romaic thinkers in the 12th century in Byzantium, the nearly 20-year career of Hugo Etherianus occupied a prominent position in Constantinople. Hugo was the best Latin expert on Hellenic and Byzantine philosophy and theology in the 12th century, particularly associated with the new dialecticians. His writings and letters as well as his debates with various Byzantine philosophers and theologians are an important testimony on the parting of the Byzantine and the Latin intellectual traditions during the last quarter of the 12th century.

The paper is mainly concerned with Gottfried Benn’s complex attitude to the state and history. By means of introductory prefigurations, such as existential tensions related to the conflict between Protestant ethics and modern aesthetics, there emerges Benn’s difficult and complex relation to the state as such, seen as a product of history, and to its particular examples, starting from the Second Reich until the initial phase of West Germany. Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophy, and in particular the philosophy of art, is of great importance in this context. This issue is discussed using Benn’s key works such as Roman des Phänotyp or Doppelleben. Benn’s literary and life self-creations played a vital role in his relations with the political reality and the state, which is discussed at the end of this analysis. His ambivalent relation to early West Germany has a strong biographical basis, i.e. his involvement with the history of the Nazi Germany on the one hand, and on the other – the period of his literary fame at the end of his life.

Der Begriff der Geschichte und das Erzählen von Geschichten über eigenes Leben sind die Hauptfragen der Poetik von Peter Bichsel. Der Autor versteht die Geschichte als Reflexion des Menschen über sich selbst und als Versuch subjektiver Deutung der Ereignisse in Erzählungen über eigenes Leben, was seiner Ansicht nach zum besseren Selbstverständnis führt. So begriffene Geschichte avanciert zu einer anthropologischen Konstante, was ihre Deutung aus der psychologischen und philosophischen Perspektive zulässt. Die Erzählpoetik von Bichsel wurde im vorliegenden Beitrag in Anlehnung an Erkenntnisse der sich in den letzten Jahren dynamisch entwickelnden narrativen Psychologie erklärt, die Erzählung als Mittel zum Verständnis der Wirklichkeit betrachtet und den Erzählungen über eigenes Leben eine therapeutische Funktion zuschreibt. Aus den philosophischen Perspektive dagegen in Anlehnung an Behauptungen der Geschichtenphilosophie von Wilhelm Schapp, die den Menschen als (Mit)Verstrickten in eigene Geschichten und in Geschichten anderer Menschen auffasst. Und in Anlehnung an die Theorie der narrativen Identität von Paul Ricœur, nach der der Mensch durch Erzählungen über eigenes Leben eigene Identität konstruiert.
The concept of story and storytelling about own life are the main issues of Peter Bichsel’s poetics. Story in his depiction is defined as a reflection of the man himself and the subjective test to clarify events from his own life trough individually formulated stories, which approximate better understanding oneself. So understood stories rise to the rank of anthropological standard which enables its interpretation from the perspective of both psychological and philosophical prospect. Bichsel’s literary schedule was explained in this article on the basic of dynamically prospering in the last several years narrative psychology. It treats narration as a way of understanding reality and assigns therapeutic function to the stories. However from the philosophical perspective based on Wilhelm Schapp’s philosophy of stories expressing the human entangled in his own stories and based on Paul Ricœur’s narrative identity theory assuming that human is constructing his own identity by creating stories about his own life.
Pojęcie historii i opowiadanie historii o własnym życiu stanowią centralne zagadnienia poetyki Petera Bichsla. Historia w jego ujęciu rozumiana jest jako refleksja człowieka o nim samym oraz próba subiektywnego wyjaśnienia zdarzeń z własnego życia poprzez samodzielnie konstruowane opowiadania, które zbliżają człowieka do lepszego zrozumienia siebie. Tak rozumiana historia urasta do rangi antropologicznej konstanty, co umożliwia jej interpretację z perspektywy zarówno psychologicznej, jak i filozoficznej. Literacki program Bichsla został w niniejszym artykule wyjaśniony w oparciu o założenia dynamicznie rozwijającej się w ostatnich kilkunastu latach psychologii narracyjnej, która narrację traktuje jako sposób rozumienia rzeczywistości, a opowiadaniom o własnym życiu przypisuje funkcję terapeutyczną, z perspektywy filozoficznej natomiast w oparciu o twierdzenia filozofii historii Wilhelma Schappa, ujmującej człowieka jako uwikłanego w historie własne oraz innych ludzi, i w oparciu o teorię tożsamości narracyjnej Paula Ricœura, zakładającej, że człowiek konstruuje własną tożsamość poprzez tworzenie opowiadań o własnym życiu.
