    Among worlds. Alpine mountain nymphs called Salige in the works of Paula Grogger The subject of this article concerns the images of alpine nymphs popular in Alpine mythology and called Salige in selected works by the Austrian writer Paula Grogger (1892–1984): in the legend Das salige Kind (1929) and in the novel Das Grimmingtor (1926). In alpine stories these nymphs are the guardians of mountain nature and the embodiment of the pre-Christian Great Goddess. In the works discussed here, the real world permeates with the metaphysical world: the first presents the attempt of the peaceful coexistence of the nymph and the people, and the second emphasizes its role as a guide into the underworld. The analysis was inspired by the theory of landscape mythology, which combines historical and archaeological facts, with a description of the folklore of the area, stories and solemnities, local names and lay of the land in order to obtain the most comprehensive analysis of cultural texts.

    Willibald Omankowski (geboren 1886 in Danzig, gestorben 1976 in Berlin) war Lehrer, Schriftsteller, Kritiker und Kommunalpolitiker und eine der wichtigsten Persönlichkeiten im Kulturleben der Freien Stadt Danzig. Er schrieb für die Tageszeitung „Danziger Volksstimme“ und die Zeitschrift „Ostdeutsche Monatshefte“, nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg – und nach einer Namensänderung zu Omansen – für die „Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung“. Unter seinen Gedichtbänden ragt „Danzig. Antlitz einer alten Stadt“ (1924) heraus. 2007 wurde sein lyrisches Werk unter dem Titel „Danzig zur Nacht / Gdańsk nocą“ von Andrzej Kątny und Jens Stüben neu ediert.
    Willibald Omankowski (born in 1886 in Gdańsk, died in 1976 in Berlin) was teacher, author, critic and municipial politician and one of the most important personalities in the cultural life of the Free City of Danzig. He wrote for the newspaper “Danziger Volksstimme” and the magazine “Ostdeutsche Monatshefte”, after the Second World War – and after the change of name to Omansen – for the “Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung”. Among his books of poems stands out “Danzig. Antlitz einer alten Stadt” (1924). In 2007 his lyrical work was anew edited under the title “Danzig zur Nacht / Gdańsk nocą” by Andrzej Kątny and Jens Stüben.
    Na 40-lecie śmierci poety Willibalda Omankowskiego/Omansena (1886–1976) Willibald Omankowski (ur. 1886 r. w Gdańsku, zm. 1976 r. w Berlinie) był nauczycielem, pisarzem, krytykiem literackim i politykiem jak również jedną z najważniejszych osobistości w życiu kulturalnym Wolnego Miasta Gdańska. Pisał dla gazety „Danziger Volksstimme” i magazynu „Ostdeutsche Monatshefte”, po II wojnie światowej – po zmianie nazwiska na Omansen – dla „Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung”. Wśród jego poetyckich tomików wyróżnia się „Danzig. Antlitz einer alten Stadt” (1924). W roku 2007 jego liryczne wiersze zostały wydane pod tytułem „Danzig zur Nacht / Gdańsk nocą” przez Andrzeja Kątnego i Jensa Stübena.

    Götz Alys 2017 erschienenes Buch Europa gegen die Juden 1880–1945 schreibt den Ansatz seiner sechs Jahre zuvor publizierten Abhandlung Warum die Deutschen? Warum die Juden? Gleichheit, Neid und Rassenhass fort. Beide Bücher beleuchten den Einfluß von Mißgunst und Neid auf sozialpolitische Maßnahmen im Europa der Zwischenkriegszeit – sowohl auf solche, die ‚soziale‘ Gerechtigkeit verwirklichen sollen, als auch auf solche, die der Schaffung eines möglichst homogenen Nationalstaats dienen sollen. Da Aly auf diese Weise die negative Seite dessen deutlich macht, was üblicherweise als Social Engineering bezeichnet wird, findet sein Buch ein negatives Echo bei Kommentatoren, die staatliche Eingriffe in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft gutheißen. Unter ihnen ist der Historiker Hans-Ulrich Wehler, ein langjähriger Aly-Kritiker. Der gegenwärtige Aufsatz enthält eine kritische Rekonstruktion des Alyschen Ansatzes und der Reaktionen seiner Kritiker. Außerdem werden die kapitalismuskritischen Anschauungen Hans-Ulrich Wehlers analysiert.
    Götz Aly’s book Europa gegen die Juden 1880–1945 (Europe against the Jews 1880–1945) is a sequel to his earlier published treatise Warum die Deutschen? Warum die Juden? Gleichheit, Neid und Rassenhass (Why the Germans? Why the Jews? Equality, Envy, and Racial Hatred). Both volumes explore the impact of envy on policies of ‘social’ justice and national homogeneity in the interwar period, thereby pointing out the negative aspects of social engineering. As its predecessor, Europa gegen die Juden has been, therefore, criticized by commentators of a more interventionist outlook. One of Aly’s most prominent – and sternest – critics is the historian Hans-Ulrich Wehler. This essay presents a critical assessment of Aly’s argument, the replies of his critics, and Wehler’s views on the market economy, interventionism and ‘social’ justice.
    Opublikowana w 2017 roku książka Götza Aly’ego Europa gegen die Juden 1880–1945 jest kontynuacją wydanej sześć lat wcześniej rozprawy Warum die Deutschen? Warum die Juden? Gleichheit, Neid und Rassenhass. Obydwie książki naświetlają wpływ zawiści i zazdrości na środki polityki społecznej w Europie lat międzywojennych. Chodzi zarówno o rozwiązania mające na celu realizację sprawiedliwości „społecznej”, jaki i posunięcia zmierzające do stworzenia możliwie jednolitego państwa narodowego. Ponieważ Aly wskazuje na wady działań określanych zazwyczaj jako Social Engineering, jego książka spotkała się z krytyką komentatorów, którzy popierają państwowy interwencjonizm w gospodarce i społeczeństwie. Należy do nich historyk Hans-Ulrich Wehler, krytykujący od lat Aly’ego. Niniejszy artykuł zawiera krytyczną rekonstrukcję koncepcji Aly’ego oraz reakcji jego krytyków. Analizuje również krytykę kapitalizmu, sformułowaną przez Hansa-Ulricha Wehlera.
