    Opis:
    The present article constitutes an attempt to answer the question what functions are performed by a literary title in reference to the text preceding it and in the relation: text’s author and its recipient. At the beginning presented are general functions of a text, later on followed by an analysis of the functions of a literary title on the basis of a corpus made up of book titles within the range of women’s literature. Literary title and its functions are analyzed against the background of text linguistics and psycholinguistics.

    This paper investigates the functions of new interjections “oops/ups”, “wtf”, and “yep” by means of a corpus-based approach. The samples for the monolingual and contrastive analyses were selected from DeReKo und Czech National Corpus. The main findings of the monolingual analysis show that examples of the emotive and phatic functions prevail in the samples and that subclasses of the emotive category as displayed in current grammars of German are sometimes inadequate as far as a more nuanced classification of interjections is desired. The contrastive analysis of the selected interjections revealed predictably similarities; nevertheless, some fine-grained differences have also been recognised.

    While expressing consolation one aims at soothing a person who has just experienced something difficult or directing their negative emotions (e. g. bereavement) to the positive side. This is the aim of author of funeral sermons containing - mainly as an epilogue - the function of consolation. In this article argumentative strategies used by the authors to communicate consolation have been presented. The body of the text is formed by the chosen Gdańsk funeral sermons of 1586-1746.

    The paper deals with the role of multilingualism in selected text types. The reflections on forms of multilingualism and occasions for using multiple languages in a text lead to the creation of a typologythat distinguishes between obligatory and optional use of multiple languages in text types. The obligatory multilingualism is constitutive in dictionaries, textbooks and teaching materials. Optional multilingualism, which was examined using the example of German advertising texts and grave inscriptions from Germany and Denmark, reinforces the main function of the text.

    Aus der pragmatischen Perspektive stehen bei einer zielorientierten Kommunikation neben dem sprachlichen und situativen Kontext die Intention des Sprechers und seine Handlungsstrategie im Mittelpunkt. Am Beispiel dreier Textausschnitte, die drei unterschiedliche Textsorten repräsentieren, setzt sich der Beitrag zum Ziel zu zeigen, welche Rolle Adjektive in unterschiedlichen Kommunikationssituationen spielen, zu welchen kommunikativen Zwecken sie verwendet werden und welche Funktionen sie in unterschiedlichen Kontexten erfüllen. Es wird gezeigt, welche sprachlichen und grammatischen Spezifika zur Erfüllung eines bestimmten Kommunikationsziels im Zusammenhang mit der Intention des Textproduzenten und der Textfunktion führen. Dabei werden Adjektive der deutschen Gegenwartssprache aus einer handlungs- und funktionsorientierten Perspektive untersucht.
    From a pragmatic perspective, goaloriented communication focuses not only on the linguistic and situational context, but also on the speaker‘s intention and strategy. Using the example of three text excerpts, which represent three different text types, the aim of the article is to show which role adjectives play in different communication situations, which communicative purposes they are used for, and which functions they perform in different contexts. It is shown which linguistic and grammatical specifics lead to the fulfillment of a certain communication goal in connection with the intention of the text producer and the text function. Adjectives in contemporary German are examined from the action-oriented and function-oriented perspectives.

    Opis:
    Das Untersuchungsfeld des vorliegenden Beitrags stellen wertend markierte nominale Derivate aus kontrastiver Sicht (Polnisch-Deutsch) dar. Es handelt sich um Neologismen oder Okkasionalismen von einer generell undurchsichtigen semantischen Struktur, deren Derivationsbasis Eigennamen bilden, und die in den beiden Sprachen meistens etymologisch identische Derivationssuffixe aufweisen, hauptsächlich lateinischer Herkunft. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Analyse ist vor allem eine Untersuchung von Derivationsschemata in Bezug auf diese Suffixe in beiden Sprachen, von dem Grad der Wirkung der Suffixe auf diese Derivate, mit Berücksichtigung der Perspektive ihrer Internationalisierung, sowie ein Vergleich der Semantik derjenigen Derivate, die unter morphologischem Aspekt sich voneinander unterscheiden, aus Sicht ihrer semantischen Analogie.
    Tematem niniejszego artykułu są nacechowane wartościująco derywaty nominalne w ujęciu kontrastywnym niemiecko-polskim. Chodzi o neologizmy lub okazjonalizmy o generalnie nieprzejrzystej strukturze semantycznej, których podstawę derywacyjną stanowią nazwy własne i które w obu językach wykazują najczęściej tożsame etymologicznie sufiksy derywacyjne, głównie pochodzenia łacińskiego. Celem analizy jest przede wszystkim zbadanie schematów derywacyjnych w odniesieniu do tychże sufiksów w obu językach, stopnia oddziaływania sufiksów na te derywaty z uwzględnieniem perspektywy ich internacjonalizacji, jak również porównanie znaczenia derywatów zróżnicowanych w aspekcie struktury morfologicznej pod kątem ich analogii semantycznej.
    The paper deals with the evaluative nominal derivatives from contrastive point of view. The focus is given to neologisms or occasionalisms that are on the whole semantically opaque, whose derivative base is constituted by proper names and which show mostly identical suffixes, primarily Latinate, in the both languages. The aim of the analysis is to investigate the derivative schemes referring to the suffixes in the both languages as well as the extent to which the suffixes influence the derivatives from the perspective of their internationalization. The other searching aspect is set to compare the meaning of the derivatives that are underlined by different morphological structures, taking into account their semantic analogy.

    The paper discusses the problems of the opening a text texts as exemplified by contracts. Twelve contracts were examined, including sales contracts, construction contracts, lease contracts, rental contracts and employment contracts. The contract was defined as a text type. Aspects such as a text’s subject matter, function and structure are particularly important for the determination of its opening and its delimitation from the remaining parts of the text. The article illustrates the ways in which these elements determine the opening of the text. The article also contains information on other studies on text openings.
    Artykuł porusza tematykę inicjalnych elementów tekstu na przykładzie umów. Analizie poddano dwanaście tekstów umów, w tym umowy sprzedaży, budowlane, dzierżawy, umowy najmu oraz umowy o pracę. Opisano umowę jako gatunek tekstu. Do określenia początku tekstu i jego odgraniczenia od pozostałych fragmentów istotne są takie aspekty, jak tematyka tekstu, funkcja oraz struktura tekstu. W artykule pokazano, jak determinują one początek tekstu umowy. Ponadto opracowanie zawiera informacje o innych badaniach dotyczących elementów inicjalnych tekstów.

    The purpose of this inquiry is to set the equivalence relations between the German modal particles etwa, schon, wohl in rhetorical questions and the corresponding particles in Polish. The communicative function of the particles according to rhetoricity will be established first. The relevance of the particles meaning in causing the rhetoricity will be considered at that. The research results should provide information about the equivalence types as well as about the real use of the particles in German and Polish in terms of rhetoric.

    Im Beitrag werden die theoretischen Grundlagen einer kontrastiven Untersuchung deutscher und ukrainischer Werbeslogans präsentiert. Es wird gezeigt, dass die Verbindung von strukturlinguistischen und kommunikativ -pragmatischen Methoden ermöglicht, die Sprache in der Werbekommunikation effektiv zu beschreiben. Das vorgeschlagene kontrastive Analysemodell setzt sich zum Ziel, kommunikative Strategien und Taktiken in den Slogans zu bestimmen und zu zeigen, welche Gemeinsamkeit und Unterschiede es bezüglich der kommunikativen Ausrichtung der deutschen und ukrainischen Slogans und ihrer sprachlichen Realisierung gibt.
    The paper focuses on the approaches to the analysis of advertising slogans. It has been found that a combination of structural-linguistic and communicative-pragmatic methods permits to describe the language which is effective in advertising communication. The proposed structural-semantic and communicative-pragmatic model of the contrastive analysis of German and Ukrainian slogans is instrumental in highlighting their common and distinctive characteristics of the linguistic, strategic-communicative and cultural nature.
    Teoretyczne podstawy badań kontrastywnych niemieckich i ukraińskich sloganów reklamowych W artykule wskazano na fakt, iż połączenie strukturalnych i komunikatywno–pragmatycznych metod umożliwia efektywny opis komunikacji w reklamie. Zaproponowany kontrastywny model analizy stawia sobie za cel określenie strategii i taktyk komunikacyjnych oraz ilustrację wspólnych cech i różnic językowych w tworzeniu sloganów w języku ukraińskim i niemieckim.
