    Opis:
    Das Dominikanerkloster in Brieg endstand in der Mitte des 14. Jahrhundert. Das Heilig-Kreutz-Kloster war die letzte Stiftung des Dominikanerordens in mittelalterlichen Schlesien. In der Nähe dieses Klosters wurden auch andere Klōster gegrūndet (Breslau, Schweidnitz, Franckenstein, Löwen un Oppeln). Alle diese Klöster hatte Bezierke, in denen pastorale und wirtschaftliche Tätigkeit ausübten. Die Grenzen des Klosters in Brzeg umfasten des Gebiet am linken Ufer der Oder, zwischen Oława und Nysa Kłodzka, sowie Städte und Dōfer am rechten Ufer der Oder, zwischen Widawa und Prosna.
    Klasztor dominikanów w Brzegu powstał w połowie XIV w. Był ostatnią fundacją Braci Kaznodziejów na terenie średniowiecznego Śląska i sąsiadował z kilkoma innymi konwentami dominikańskimi: we Wrocławiu, Świdnicy, Ząbkowicach Śląskich, Lewinie Brzeskim i Opolu. Dla rozgraniczenia wpływów tych klasztorów wytyczono należące do nich okręgi, w których mogły one prowadzić działalność duszpasterską i gospodarczą. Wiadomości o zasięgu okręgu klasztoru w Brzegu czerpiemy z XVI-wiecznych wykazów dochodów i wydatków konwentu. Wytyczone na ich podstawie granice okręgu klasztoru brzeskiego obejmują tereny na lewym brzegu Odry położone w widłach Olawy i Nysy Kłodzkiej; dominikanie z Brzegu działali też w niektórych miastach i wsiach na prawym brzegu Odry położonych między Widawą oraz Prosną.  
    The Dominican monastery in Brzeg was established in the mid-fourteenth century. It was the last foundation of the Order of Preachers in medieval Silesia and was adjacent to several other Dominican convents: in Wrocław, Świdnica, Ząbkowice Śląskie, Lewin Brzeski and Opole. To establish the range of authority of these monasteries, separate districts were marked out for each to carry out their pastoral and economic activities in. Information on the range of the monastery district in Brzeg is extracted from the 16th-century records of revenues and expenses of the convent. The territory of the Brzeg monastery district, with borders delineated on the basis of records, include the areas on the left bank of the Oder, located at the confluence of the Oława and Nysa Kłodzka; Dominicans from Brzeg were also active in some towns and villages on the right bank of the Oder, located between Widawa and Prosna.

    Opis:
    Joseph Ratzinger/Benedikt XVI. war nicht nur ein hervorragender Theologe, sondern auch ein scharfsinniger Beobachter, Diagnostiker und Prognostiker der Zeit. Sein Denken war weit voraus, er blickte prophetisch in die Zukunft und sah verheerende Folgen des menschlichen Handelns voraus, die sich heute bewahrheiten, so z. B. die rapide steigende Säkularisierung und die damit Hand in Handgehende Abnahme junger Menschen in der Kirche. Sowohl als gemäβigter Modernist als auch als überzeugter Konservativer ahnte er den drohenden Zusammenbruch bzw. die Selbstzerstörung der ohne Gott lebenden Menschheit.1 Seines Erachtens steht die Welt auf der Kippe. Deshalb rief Benedikt XVI. in seinen unzähligen Ansprachen und Schriften die Menschen immer wieder dazu auf, sich umdie Umwelt zu kümmern, damit die Erde, die der Mensch vom Schöpfer erhalten hat, auch an andere Generationen weitergegeben werden kann.
    Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XV was not only an outstanding theologian, but also a keen observer, diagnostician and prognosticator of time. His thinking looked far ahead, prophetically looked into the future and predicted the devastating consequences of human actions that are being realized today, e.g. the rapidly progressing secularization and the accompanying decline in the number of young people in the Church. Both as a moderate modernist and a convinced conservative, he sensed the approaching collapse or self-destruction of humanity living without God. In his opinion, the world is on the brink of an abyss. That is why Benedict XVI, in his countless speeches and writings, has repeatedly called on humanity to take care of the environment, so that the earth, which the Creator has entrusted toman as a responsible mission, can also be passed on to other generations.
    Joseph Ratzinger/Benedykt XVI był nie tylko wybitnym teologiem, ale także bystrym obserwatorem, diagnostą i prognostykiem czasu. Jego myślenie wybiegało daleko do przodu, proroczo patrzył w przyszłość i przewidywał niszczycielskie skutki ludzkich działań, które spełniają się dzisiaj, np. szybko postępująca sekularyzacja i towarzyszący jej spadek liczby młodych ludzi w Kościele. Zarówno jako umiarkowany modernista, jak i przekonany konserwatysta przeczuwał zbliżający się upadek lub samozagładę ludzkości żyjącej bez Boga. Jego zdaniem świat stoi na krawędzi. Dlatego Benedykt XVI w swoich niezliczonych przemówieniach i pismach wielokrotnie nawoływał ludzi do dbania o środowisko, aby ziemia, którą ludzie otrzymali od Stwórcy, mogła zostać przekazana także innympokoleniom.

    Artykuł profesora historii Kościoła, który w wieku 62 lat został w 2011 roku przez kard. Jo- achima Meissnera z Kolonii wyświęcony na kapłana, stanowi podsumowanie doktrynalne i pasto- ralne całego pontyfikatu Benedykta XVI. Autor na początku opisuje swoje pierwsze spotkanie z kard. Josephem Ratzingerem i późniejszą korespondencję z Benedyktem XVI. Następnie z bó- lem ukazuje niezbyt życzliwą atmosferę w Niemczech po wyborze Ratzingera na papieża i w cza- sie jego pontyfikatu, co po 500 latach od wyboru na papieża Niemca powinno być szczególnym powodem do dumy.Analizę nauczania papieskiego zaczyna od krótkiego omówienia trylogii  Jezusa z  Nazaretu, a w dalszej kolejności encyklik Benedykta XVI Deus Caritas est i Spe salvi oraz Caritas in verita- te. Wspomina o 24 podróżach apostolskich Benedykta XVI, które odbył w czasie ośmiu lat  swegopontyfikatu. Przedstawia założenia Roku Pawłowego, Kapłańskiego i Roku Wiary, połączonego ściśle z ideą nowej ewangelizacji, które zostały ogłoszone przez papieża. Do dorobku Benedykta należą też 44 kanonizacje i 105 beatyfikacji. Podkreśla szczególne zasługi papieża w dziedzinie dialogu międzyreligijnego i ekumenicznego. Ukazuje wkład refleksji papieskiej dla pogłębienia problematyki wolności religijnej. Wspomina też o cieniach tego pontyfikatu, do których zalicza przede wszystkim sprawę pedofilii w Kościele oraz aferę Vatileaks.
    The article, written by a professor of Church history, who in 2011 at the age of 62 was ordained to priesthood by Cardinal Joachim Meissner from Cologne, provides a doctrinal and pastoral summary of the entire pontificate of Benedict XVI. The author begins by describing his first encounter with Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and later correspondence with Benedict XVI. Next, he depicts with pain a not very favorable atmosphere in Germany after Ratzinger was elected pope and during his pontificate, even though the election of a German to the papacy after five hundred years should be a special reason for  pride.The analysis of the Pope's teaching begins with a short discussion of the trilogy "Jesus of Nazareth", followed by a scrutiny of the encyclicals of Benedict XVI "Deus Caritas est", "Spe salvi" and "Caritas in veritate". The author also mentions the 24 apostolic journeys undertaken by Benedict XVI during the eight years of his pontificate. He presents the assumptions of the Year of St. Paul, the Year of the Priesthood and the Year of Faith, all closely connected with the idea of the new evangelization and announced by the Pope. Pope Benedict's achievements include also forty- four canonizations and one hundred and five beatifications. The author strongly emphasizes the Pope's merits in interreligious and ecumenical dialog. He shows the role of papal reflection towards a deeper understanding of religious freedom. The dark pages of this pontificate are mentioned as well, mainly the problem of pedophilia in the Church and the Vatileaks affair.

    Machen wir ein Experiment. Ein Mensch leidet unter schlimmen Zahnschmerzen. Man versucht es mit kalten Umschlägen – ohne Erfolg. Dann kommen der heiße Tee und starke Tabletten, doch es hilft nichts. Am Ende bleibt nur Spezialist. Der Zahnarzt muss den Schmerzen auf den Grund gehen. Die Diagnose lautet: der Zahn ist an der Wurzel vereitert. Als Therapie bleibt die radikale Lösung, um den armen Patienten von seinen Qualen zu erlösen.
    Let's do an experiment. A person suffers from severe toothache. You try it with cold compresses - without success. Then comes the hot tea and strong pills, but it doesn't help. In the end, only specialist remains. The dentist has to get to the bottom of the pain. The diagnosis is: the tooth has abscessed at the root. As therapy, the radical solution remains to put the poor patient out of his ordeal.
