    The article starts with a discussion of the essential theories of storytelling, reading and writing, and focuses on the concept of reading-to-write. It discusses the use and the abuse of classical schema of storytelling – “the mouse”. In the last step, using fragments of different children’s books, the article develops an integrative literary and language teaching model for school lessons of German in a way which stimulates a highly functional receptive and productive handling of language semantics and performance.

    The aim of the text is to discuss some issues related to the academic principles ofautobiographical writing and practical workshops aiming to improve intercultural, trans- and cross-cultural competences. We have to keep in mind that the significance of terms as narration, telling, storytelling particularly with regard to different academic contexts is growing. The study is based on different tried and tested writing exercises, on writing plays as flash-fiction, writing based on a model, so as to motivate and inspire the students, to produce their own creative, autobiographical and, in a broader sense, “literary works” and to take this into account for foreign language teaching

    Opis:
    The article presents the impact of emotions on teaching children foreign languages. To this end, the results of a research project carried out under the auspices of the Institute of German Philology at the University of Silesia in Katowice are discussed. The project consisted in providing language courses at three kindergartens and one primary school. During those courses, German was taught as a foreign language using the storytelling approach. The project results led to the conclusion that, unlike traditional teaching methods, which are based on very limited input and intensive imitation, the teaching method used creates much more favourable conditions for the activation of innate language acquiring processes and takes the level of the children’s cognitive development into account to a larger degree. The objectives of the evaluation were – among other things – to determine how the storytelling approach affects children’s attitudes to a foreign language, whether it arouses their internal motivation for acquiring a foreign language, whether it contributes to building their confidence, and whether it stimulates their imagination and creativity.

    Gegenstand der Analyse im vorliegenden Beitrag ist die Konstruktion des Helden des Romans Agnes (1998) von Peter Stamm und die von ihm kreierte Narration über die Frau und die Liebe. Diese Narration wird durch Reflexionen über den Prozess des Erzählens selbst sowie über die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der Gegenwartsliteratur, die Liebe thematisiert, begleitet. Der Artikel ist ein Versuch, auf die Frage nach der Bedeutung der männlichen Narration für den Erzähler, für die geliebte Frau, für ihre Beziehung, für das Bild der Liebe in der Romanwelt und für die Interpretation von Stamms Roman zu antworten.
    The aim of the article is twofold. Firstly, to analyse the main character of the novel Agnes (1998) by Peter Stamm as well as his narration within the novel—a story about a woman and a love, accompanied by reflections on the process of storytelling itself and of possibilities as well as limits of contemporary love stories. Secondly, to answer questions of the significance of the man’s story for the narrator itself, for the woman, for their relationship, for the image of their love in the world of the narration as well as for the interpretation of Stamm’s novel.
    Przedmiotem analizy w niniejszym artykule jest konstrukcja bohatera powieści Petera Stamma Agnes (1998) oraz kreowana przez niego wewnątrzpowieściowa narracja o kobiecie i miłości, której towarzyszą refleksje na temat procesu tworzenia narracji oraz możliwości i ograniczeń literatury współczesnej opowiadającej o miłości. Tekst stanowi próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakie znaczenie ma męska opowieść dla samego narratora, dla kobiety, dla ich związku, dla obrazu ich miłości w świecie powieściowym oraz dla interpretacji powieści Stamma.

    Generationserzählungen haben sich in der deutschen Sprache als eine erfolgversprechende, aber auch sehr wandelbare Gattung erwiesen. Der einleitende Beitrag fokussiert auf die Fähigkeit des Narrativs, die deutsche und europäische Geschichte mitzugestalten und auch umzuschreiben. Dabei greifen jüngere Werke Vergessenes und fehlendes Wissen auf und verarbeiten weite Zeiträume imaginativ. Durch ihre vielschichtigen Zugriffe auf die Zeit reflektiert die einschlägige Literatur nicht nur über die Vergangenheit, sondern auch grundsätzlicher über den ästhetischen Umgang mit der Zeit und ihre sprachlichen Darstellungsmöglichkeiten.
    Generational narratives have proven to be a promising but also very uneven genre in the German language. This introductory article focuses on the ability of the narrative to create and recreate German and European history. In recent works, forgotten and missing knowledge is recovered, and distant times are processed imaginatively. Through its multilayered access to time, the relevant literature not only reflects on the past, but also more fundamentally, on the aesthetic representation of time and its linguistic expression.
    Opowieści rodzinne odnoszą w niemieckim obszarze językowym duże sukcesy, ale są też gatunkiem, podlegającym ciągłym ewolucjom. Niniejszy artykuł zakłada, że narracja jest zdolna współkształtować niemiecką i europejską historię a nawet nadawać jej nowe znaczenie. Utwory literackie ostatnich lat odwołują się zarówno do procesu zapominania jak i do braku odpowiedniej wiedzy; stąd całe przestrzenie czasowe są przepracowane przez wyobraźnię twórców. Dzięki wielorakim odniesieniom do pojęcia czasu, literatura sięga nie tylko do przeszłości, ale przygląda się możliwościom estetycznego i językowego oglądu fenomenu czasu.

    Der Begriff der Geschichte und das Erzählen von Geschichten über eigenes Leben sind die Hauptfragen der Poetik von Peter Bichsel. Der Autor versteht die Geschichte als Reflexion des Menschen über sich selbst und als Versuch subjektiver Deutung der Ereignisse in Erzählungen über eigenes Leben, was seiner Ansicht nach zum besseren Selbstverständnis führt. So begriffene Geschichte avanciert zu einer anthropologischen Konstante, was ihre Deutung aus der psychologischen und philosophischen Perspektive zulässt. Die Erzählpoetik von Bichsel wurde im vorliegenden Beitrag in Anlehnung an Erkenntnisse der sich in den letzten Jahren dynamisch entwickelnden narrativen Psychologie erklärt, die Erzählung als Mittel zum Verständnis der Wirklichkeit betrachtet und den Erzählungen über eigenes Leben eine therapeutische Funktion zuschreibt. Aus den philosophischen Perspektive dagegen in Anlehnung an Behauptungen der Geschichtenphilosophie von Wilhelm Schapp, die den Menschen als (Mit)Verstrickten in eigene Geschichten und in Geschichten anderer Menschen auffasst. Und in Anlehnung an die Theorie der narrativen Identität von Paul Ricœur, nach der der Mensch durch Erzählungen über eigenes Leben eigene Identität konstruiert.
    The concept of story and storytelling about own life are the main issues of Peter Bichsel’s poetics. Story in his depiction is defined as a reflection of the man himself and the subjective test to clarify events from his own life trough individually formulated stories, which approximate better understanding oneself. So understood stories rise to the rank of anthropological standard which enables its interpretation from the perspective of both psychological and philosophical prospect. Bichsel’s literary schedule was explained in this article on the basic of dynamically prospering in the last several years narrative psychology. It treats narration as a way of understanding reality and assigns therapeutic function to the stories. However from the philosophical perspective based on Wilhelm Schapp’s philosophy of stories expressing the human entangled in his own stories and based on Paul Ricœur’s narrative identity theory assuming that human is constructing his own identity by creating stories about his own life.
    Pojęcie historii i opowiadanie historii o własnym życiu stanowią centralne zagadnienia poetyki Petera Bichsla. Historia w jego ujęciu rozumiana jest jako refleksja człowieka o nim samym oraz próba subiektywnego wyjaśnienia zdarzeń z własnego życia poprzez samodzielnie konstruowane opowiadania, które zbliżają człowieka do lepszego zrozumienia siebie. Tak rozumiana historia urasta do rangi antropologicznej konstanty, co umożliwia jej interpretację z perspektywy zarówno psychologicznej, jak i filozoficznej. Literacki program Bichsla został w niniejszym artykule wyjaśniony w oparciu o założenia dynamicznie rozwijającej się w ostatnich kilkunastu latach psychologii narracyjnej, która narrację traktuje jako sposób rozumienia rzeczywistości, a opowiadaniom o własnym życiu przypisuje funkcję terapeutyczną, z perspektywy filozoficznej natomiast w oparciu o twierdzenia filozofii historii Wilhelma Schappa, ujmującej człowieka jako uwikłanego w historie własne oraz innych ludzi, i w oparciu o teorię tożsamości narracyjnej Paula Ricœura, zakładającej, że człowiek konstruuje własną tożsamość poprzez tworzenie opowiadań o własnym życiu.

    In NINO HARATISCHWILIS Roman Das achte Leben (Für Brilka) versucht die Erzählerin Niza vergeblich, die sowjetische Geschichte Georgiens und die individuelle Geschichte ihrer Familie zwischen 1900 und 2006 aufeinander bezogen darzustellen. Der Aufsatz argumentiert, dass in den Defiziten des Erzählprogramms Nizas Widersprüche einer für den Generationenroman typischen Erzählpoetik produktiv gemacht werden, der es nicht gelingt, individuelle, familiäre und politische Geschichte zu einem sinnstiftenden Narrativ zu verbinden. Am Ende des Romans steht deshalb ein Medienwechsel von der literarischen Geschichtsdarstellung zu ihrer performativen Verkörperung im Tanz, in dem die theatrale Adaption des Romans, wie sie JETTE STECKEL 2017 am Thalia Theater Hamburg inszenierte, bereits angelegt ist.
    In NINO HARATISCHWILI’S Das achte Leben (Für Brilka) the novel’s narrator, Niza, unsuccessfully attempts to relate Georgia’s Soviet history and her family’s history between 1900 and 2006. The paper argues that the deficits in Niza’s narrative programme are actually productive contradictions, which are typical of the narrative poetics of the generational novel, in that it does not succeed in synthesising the individual, familial and political histories into one meaningful narrative. The end of the novel therefore changes to a new medium: from the literary representation of history, to its performative embodiment in dance. This anticipates the theatrical adaptation of the novel by JETTE STECKEL at the Thalia Theater Hamburg in 2017.
    W powieści NINO HARATISCHWILI Das achte Leben (Für Brilka) (Ósme życie – dla Brilki) narratorka Niza podejmuje nieudane próby przedstawienia radzieckiej historii Gruzji oraz związanej z nią indywidualnej historii swojej własnej rodziny w latach 1900-2006. Artykuł dostrzega w deficytach opowiadania Nizy sprzeczności. Wynikają one z wykorzystania poetyki narracyjnej, charakterystycznej dla powieści pokoleniowej, której nie udaje się powiązać ze sobą historii indywidualnej, rodzinnej i politycznej w jedno, mające wspólny sens opowiadanie. Koniec powieści posługuje się w związku z tym nowym medium: rezygnuje z literackiego opowiadania o historii i przechodzi do jej performatywnego ucieleśnienia w tańcu. Antycypuje ono adaptację teatralną, jaką była w 2017 r. inscenizacja JETTY STECKEL w Teatrze Thalia w Hamburgu.
