Opis:
The phenomenographic approach in educational research dates back to the early1980s. Marton and his co-workers focused on the significant role which is played by the individual beliefs of learners in the processes of teaching and learning. The study of learning experiences, reflections on these experiences and verbalization of these reflections have defined a new perspective in the perception of educational reality. The paper presents the basic assumptions of the phenomenographic approach and its application in the study of foreign language learners’ beliefs. Since beliefs result from many factors, among others of a socio-cultural nature, particular attention is paid to the dynamics of how beliefs are shaped in the light of the Activity Theory proposed by Vygotsky and his successors Leontiev and Engerström. The paper finishes with a discussion on the prospects of the study of beliefs in the Polish educational context, with particular consideration of foreign language philology students

Balanced Teaching zakłada ich współistnienie oraz proponuje zachowanie równowagi pomiędzy nimi w nauczaniu języka obcego.
The article is devoted to the diversification of foreign language teaching methods. The Balanced Teaching approach accurately represents this approach since it rejects competition between the foreign language teaching methods which focus either on hermeticism or on openness. Balanced Teaching assumes their coexistence and suggests their remaining in balance in foreign language teaching.

The goal of this study is to investigate the interplay of discourse and syntax, as it can be observed in the use of null objects, in the language development of a child who starts to acquire German at the age of nine years in a naturalistic setting. The study shows that children at such an age can profit from the knowledge already acquired in their first language. After nine months of exposure, the child under study uses null objects similarly to monolingual children. The acquisition of null objects in a second language can be impeded at an early stage, however, due to the different syntactic restraints for the use of null objects in the first and second languages.

Sobór Watykański II był wydarzeniem medialnym. Z jednej strony wzbudził wielkie zainteresowanie mediów. Z drugiej strony sam podjął refleksję nad rolą mediów w przekazie Ewangelii. Refleksja ta znalazła cenny wyraz w soborowym dekrecie Inter mirifica. Od tego czasu w kościelnej ewangelizacji uwzględnia się zarówno rolę mediów w przekazie informacji, jak też mentalność współczesnego człowieka, uformowaną w dużej mierze przez media. Z wielką uwagą do świata mediów podchodzi papież Franciszek. W postawie tej widać echo soborowych ustaleń odnośnie do mediów. „Christus als Meister der Kommunikation“. Das Zweite Vatikanische Konzil und die Medien Das Zweite Vatikanische Konzil war auch ein mediales Ereignis. Genau dadurch ist es zum besonderen Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzil geworden, was im folgenden Beitrag gezeigt werden soll. Die Verkündigung hat seitdem auch ihre Situation in einer Mediengesellschaft zu reflektieren.
The Second Vatican Council was a media event. On the one hand, aroused great interest in the media. On the other, he made a reflection on the role of the media in the transmission of the Gospel. This reflection was a valuable expression in the Conciliar decree Inter Mirifica. Since then, in the Church’s evangelization takes into account both the role of the media in the transmission of information, as well as the mentality of modern man formed largely by the media. With great attention to the world of media approaches Pope Francis. This can be seen as an echo of the Council arrangements for media.

Trzy wielkie ruchy znaczą życia Kościoła katolickiego w pierwszej połowie XX wieku: ruch biblijny, ruch ekumeniczny i ruch liturgiczny. Okres między Soborem Watykańskim I (1869-1870) i Soborem Watykańskim II (1962-1965) to najbardziej urozmaicony okres w całej liturgicznej, dziś już prawie dwutysiącletniej, historii Kościoła. Ruch liturgiczny przed ostatnim Soborem nie objął całego Kościoła katolickiego. Swoich pionierów i zwolenników ruch ten miał zwłaszcza w Europie Środkowej i Zachodniej, acz w coraz większym stopniu zyskiwał sympatyków w Ameryce Północnej i Południowej oraz w krajach misyjnych. Droga od ruchu liturgicznego do odnowy liturgicznej Soboru Watykańskiego II nie jest prosta. Choć dziś ruch liturgiczny jest niemal jednogłośnie oceniany jako sukces, wszelako z kręgów tradycjonalistycznych słyszy się też głosy uznające go za historię strat i winiące za upadek życia kościelnego w wielu częściach zachodniego świata. Korzeń jednak, z którego wyrosła reforma liturgiczna Soboru, był zdrowy i błogosławiony. Die liturgische Bewegung zwischen dem Ersten und dem Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzil Drei große Bewegungen haben das Leben der katholischen Kirche in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts geprägt: die Biblische Bewegung, die Ökumenische Bewegung und die Liturgische Bewegung. Die Zeit zwischen dem Ersten Vatikanischen Konzil (1869/1870) und dem Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzil (1962-1965) war die liturgisch wohl bewegteste Epoche in der ganzen, nunmehr fast 2000-jährigen Kirchengeschichte. Die Liturgische Bewegung war vor dem letzten Konzil keine Sache der gesamten katholischen Weltkirche. Sie hatte ihre Pioniere und Anhänger vor allem in Mittel- und Westeuropa; zunehmend gab es Sympathisanten in Teilen Nord- und Südamerikas und in den Missionsländern. Der Weg von der Liturgischen Bewegung zur liturgischen Erneuerung durch das Zweite Vatikanische Konzil ist auch nicht geradlinig verlaufen. Es gab ungeduldiges Vorwärtsdrängen und vorsichtiges Abwarten, es gab Reformvorstöße und Widerstände; es gab Umwege und Irrwege. Zwar wird die Liturgische Bewegung heute fast einhellig als Erfolgsgeschichte beurteilt. Doch es gibt auch Stimmen aus traditionalistischen Kreisen, die diese Bewegung als Verlustgeschichte beklagen und ihr die Schuld geben für den Rückgang des kirchlichen Lebens in weiten Teilen der westlichen Welt. Doch der Wurzelboden, aus dem die Liturgiereform des Konzil erwachsen ist, war gesund und gesegnet.
Three great movements marked the life of the Catholic Church in the first half of the 20th century: the Biblical movement, the ecumenical movement, and the liturgical movement. The period between the First Vatican Council (1869/1870) and the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) was the most eventful period in the liturgical whole, now almost 2000 years, of Church history. The liturgical movement did not include the whole Catholic Church before the last Council. The liturgical movement had their pioneers and followers, especially in Central and Western Europe, increasingly there were sympathizers in North and South America and in mission lands. The path from the liturgical movement to liturgical renewal through the Second Vatican Council is not rectilinear. There were impatient pressing forward and gently waiting, there was reform thrusts and resistances; there were detours and wrong turns. While the liturgical movement is judged today almost unanimously as a success story, but there are also voices from traditionalist circles who mourn this movement as loss history and blame her for the decline of Church life in much of the Western world. But the root from which the liturgical reform of the Council has grown was healthy and blessed.

The article deals with various forms and strategies of remembering the past. Krockow’s book, which is an important voice in German discourse on remembering the lost motherland, belongs to the current of non-fiction and the literature of memory. The author deliberately mixes styles and genres: a loose tale about the olden days, a historical essay, family history, personal recollections and an account of a journey. The description of Pomerania as a littleknown province of the former German East, presented from the historical and sociological perspective, is far from nostalgic as it offers a critical look at the most recent history of Germany. The reconstruction of the history of the region as well as the mentality of its inhabitants constitutes the author’s personal method of coming to terms with the German ideology which led to the Second World War, expulsion and the loss of the motherland.

Den Untersuchungsgegenstand bildet das Bild des Zweiten Weltkriegs in "Abschied von Jerusalem" von Anna Mitgutsch, einer spannenden Geschichte über Leidenschaft, Vertrauen und Verrat, einem sehr aktuellen Roman sowohl über das faszinierende und multikulturelle Jerusalem als auch über private und politische Beziehungen zwischen Israelis und Palästinensern. Im Zentrum der Erzählung steht die Figur einer jungen Österreicherin, die auf der Suche nach einer verlorenen Verwandten und ihren eigenen jüdischen Wurzeln nach Israel auswandert. Der Artikel analysiert die allgemeine Einstellung zur jüdischen Herkunft sowie das Problem der Erinnerung an vergangene Ereignisse, insbesondere an das Drama des Zweiten Weltkriegs. In ihrem Roman verknüpft die Autorin die Familiengeschichte mit der Geschichte des ganzen Landes, sie verweist auf die Frage des kulturellen und kollektiven Gedächtnisses und insbesondere auf die spezifisch österreichische Erinnerung an die Ereignisse des Holocaust sowie die langjährige Tendenz, die Beteiligung der Österreicher an diesem Kriegsverbrechen zu negieren bzw. ihre Schuld zu vermindern.
Artykuł poświęcony jest obrazowi drugiej wojny światowej w "Abschied von Jerusalem" Anny Mitgutsch, trzymającej w napięciu opowieści o namiętności, zaufaniu i zdradzie, wciąż aktualnej powieści o fascynującej i multikulturowej Jerozolimie, ale także o prywatnych i politycznych relacjach między Izraelczykami i Palestyńczykami. W centrum utworu znajduje się postać młodej Austriaczki, która podąża do Izraela w poszukiwaniu zaginionej krewnej i własnych żydowskich korzeni. Artykuł analizuje powszechny stosunek do żydowskiego pochodzenia, jak również problem pamięci o przeszłych wydarzeniach, zwłaszcza o dramacie drugiej wojny światowej. W swej powieści autorka łączy bowiem historię rodzinną z historią kraju, nawiązuje do zagadnienia pamięci kulturowej i zbiorowej, a zwłaszcza do specyficznej austriackiej pamięci o wydarzeniach Holocaustu i wieloletniej tendencji do umniejszania winy oraz negowania udziału Austriaków w zbrodniach wojennych.
The article is devoted to the image of the Second World War in "Lover, Traitor: A Jerusalem Story" ("Abschied von Jerusalem") by Anna Mitgutsch, a suspenseful story of passion, trust and betrayal, a timely novel about Jerusalem, a fascinating multicultural city, but also about intimate and political relations between Israelis and Palestinians. Mitgutsch’s story centers around a young Austrian woman who goes to Israel to find a lost relative and her own Jewish identity. The article discusses the attitude to Jewish roots and the problem of remembering of past events, especially memories of The Second World War. In her novel the author combines family history with the history of the country, refers to the issue of cultural and collective memory, and especially to the specific Austrian memory of the events of the Holocaust and the long-standing tendency to diminish the guilt and to negate the participation of Austrians in war crime.

The Bar, as a professional group dealing with defence and representation, has been developing on Polish lands at least since the beginning of the XVI century. However, only in the second half of the XIX century, so already after Poland was partitioned, the Bar association acquired its first self-government organization. The particularly intensive period of development of the Bar took place during the existence of the Second Polish Republic. The issue of legal basis of its functioning was regulated at the time. The old, unsystematic and post partition legislation was replaced with uniform and more modern law created by the Polish legislator. The rules which constitute the basis of the Bar association system were specified. The rule of equality of the legal profession as well as the rule of freedom and independence of the Bar association were the ones which gained the most importance. Furthermore, the issues connected with performing the legal profession were regulated and specified. Among the aforementioned issues were the following: the essential requirements necessary to perform the profession, the forms in which it is performed, the range of legal activities and the possibility of combining the legal profession with other activities, the rights and duties of a lawyer as well as disciplinary responsibility. Consequently, the interwar period was a short, albeit extremely important stage of the legal corporation’s development.

The tensions existing in the Church between the preservation of Tradition and its development have always existed. It is difficult to maintain a harmonious balance in this respect. Accentuating fidelity to Tradition means that its development remains in the shadow. And vice versa ‑ focusing on the development process of Tradition, shifts the concern for its integrity. After the Second Vatican Council, the tensions between the Vatican and local churches concerned the synod institution, the episcopate conference and the infallible teaching of the Pope. In the future, these tensions between the preservation of tradition and development will concern celibacy of priests and priesthood of women. There is a space of freedom for new solutions in the Church, but there are also limits that cannot be crossed. No state in the Church, and no more individuals have a monopoly on the truth. It can be discerned in the community in which the Holy Spirit operates.

Mit Beispielen aus Deutschland und Polen werden ihre Methoden, Forschungsbereiche, Forschungsergebnisse und Entwicklungstendenzen besprochen. Diese Reflexionen bauen auf der These auf, dass ‚gender‘ eine wissenschaftliche Tatsache im Sinne Ludwik Flecks ist und gleichzeitig eine wissenschaftliche Analysekategorie, die die meisten Wissenschaftsdisziplinen auf die Bedeutung der Differenz hin öffnet.
Gender studies przedstawiam tu nie tylko w związku z literaturoznawstwem, ale także podejmuję próbę umiejscowienia ich w kontekście politycznym drugiej fali ruchu kobiecego oraz w kontekście badań kobiecych i w nauce w ogóle. Na przykładach z Niemiec i z Polski omawiam metody gender studies, ich zakresy badawcze, wyniki badań literaturoznawczych oraz perspektywy rozwoju. Refleksje te rozwijam zgodnie z tezą, według której ‚gender‘ jest faktem naukowym w znaczeniu Ludwika Flecka i jednocześnie kategorią analityczną, która otwiera większość dyscyplin naukowych na znaczenie różnicy.
Posited in the context of Second-Wave-Feminism and Women Studies, in this text, Gender Studies are introduced with reference to literary sciences. Methods, fields of research, results and new tendencies are discussed by means of examples from Germany and Poland. All these reflections are based on the assumption – inspired by Ludwik Fleck – that ‚gender‘ is both a scientific fact and an analytical category which could customise most of scientific disciplines to the relevance of difference.

Opis:
The ivory wands of the Middle Kingdom display various creatures to be annihilated by protective deities, especially snakes and human foes. It seems that the snakes pictured on the ivory wands represent chaotic numina of primeval times which endanger the uncreated and the animate world. The human foes on the other side are foreigners like Libyans, Asians, Nubians and rebels. It is interesting to note that the figures of the human foes are modelled after an archetype which is taken from the royal monuments showing the king smiting his enemies. While the foes represented on the royal monuments are put down by the king in the shape of a divine bull, lion, sphinx or griffin, the enemies of the ivory wands are smitten by divine forces, among them the hippopotamus-goddess, the lion, and a cat-goddess. The investigation concerns the religious background of the massacre, which is done by the divine forces on snakes and human foes. It is proposed to identify the fighting animals as protective deities originating in art from stellar constellations or decans protecting the mother and her child at the beginning of lifetime.
